    Took a break from my tutorial series to take a friends son fly fishing for the first time. Seriously wasn't expecting to film much...but he picked it up really fast. And since he recently purchased his first action camera and started his own YT channel, I thought it would be cool to teach him the video side also. It was truly a fun afternoon.

    This short video (2:30min) talks/shows how I build transitions (not using the ones in a program). I use these techniques for all my videos, I make edits for my family and friends also and this really helps create a seamless transition between 2 clips.

    I keep a lanyard on mine also but the plastic over the ear keeps breaking. Probably b/c I take it off when I'm not on the water. I run in mine and don't like the feeling of the lanyard bouncing on my neck.

    Costa for several years now. On my 3rd pair b/c I keep dropping them in the water. My cousin likes his wileyx and they are certified safety glasses b/c of the collision/impact resistance. Your employer might pay for or help with these since they are work safety related. Others in my family like them bc they ride motorcycles and need the eye protection also

    Had my knee scoped last week. Can't stand in my kayak and fly fish so I decided to take my conventional gear and make a video that answers the question I get asked the most. How do I get all those angles and shots from my kayak? What I use, how I use them and my techniques. Here ya go....

    Yeah anything fast paced like dirt bike racing would be way easier to get the footage. Basically, I record every minute and change the view several times. But the editing is what I really enjoy. Gives me a chance to put my own touch to the footage. Deciding on the music, the transitions and what not just makes looking through the footage easier. Most of these videos are 10-12 hours of footage chopped down to 2 mins. I'm still learning and find I watch more YT tutorials on camera stuff now than fishing. However, I don't sacrifice any fishing time. Just record everything!

    Published on Aug 28, 2017 Lots of sun and no wind made for a fun day of sneaking up and throwing dry flies to grass carp. I've heard other people say that the grassies they catch don't fight hard. The ones I catch fight like tanks. Check out the giant cannon ball sized splash when one decides to get gone fast.

    Yeah I'd probably lose my mind. For sure I'd be going back tomorrow with the fly rod and some hybrid flies to drop beside them.

    It's funny you mention that. I use to work on Hilton Head and agree it's a cool place to kayak and fish. My oldest daughter was born in Savannah. We decided to move home and closer to family the year she was born. We always have plans of hitting the low country but the drive keeps us closer to AR..

    Published on Jul 14, 2017 They make us crazy but we can't stop fly fishing for grass carp. They are a blast to catch on dry flies. Link in comments to a step-by-step grass carp fly that I've had a lot of success using.

    I took it that way also. Even if you don't want more people fishing, I think we can all agree we need more people protecting our resources. IMO the best way to do that is help them see the value in the outdoors. So...my question is, who's going to do it if our kids don't? Children today have so much potential and the ability to reach way more people than I did growing up because of technology. They will be influenced by someone...I just want to try to have an impact on the decisions they ultimately make.

    It's up to the parents but remember they may not be into hunting or fishing. However, you can still include them. Mine don't fish even though I've spent hours trying to build it into them. But they do like camping and kayaking....so that's what we do. This summer my oldest has gotten into photography (no seriously) but she's been using my camera, asking questions and getting involved. Here we are on the Buffalo River in June and near our house a day or 2 each week. Take them outside and they'll find something they enjoy doing outdoors.

    Thank you. Yeah, the fly is pretty much the least important part of it. I've taken out several guys, including a week ago trying to get content for this video and it didn't work out.

    I can understand that. If I lived closer to trout or redfish if be making those videos. But in South AR it's the best thing going fly fishing wise anyway.

    Thank you. Peacocks are really high on my list. Everyone I know whos caught one says they fight hard plus they are willingness to eat a fly.

    Decided to go a new direction with my latest video. Some of you guys mentioned wanting to hear dialogue so here you go. Also included a short shot of the fly I was using for those that wonder about it. Still learning and trying to get better so any feedback is appreciated...I'm listening!

    Nah not really but a 6 wt would take forever to land a red. You're not going to hurt the fish population in a half day so have fun. A charter is the way to go if you have limited time. You're going to have so much fun. Can't wait to hear about it!
