My photo is a finalist in an Orvis contest
Plastic_worm posted a topic in General Angling Discussion
Pretty excited to find out a photo I submitted for the Orvis "20 Days in September" contest is a finalist. 1-place is a new Orvis Recon. Here's the photo, captured as part of the video I made. If you think it's worth a vote I'd really appreciate it, if you think it deserves one. Thanks in advance! http://www.orvis.com/news/fly-fishin...ge-sling-pack/ -
Congrats on an outstanding day!!

Everyone knows that you're suppose to spray the bear spray on you...your head, arms, neck, any place you don't want to get bite. That sucks!

Never got my feelings hurt. It's just fishing, right!

You know, I have heard that a lot lately. I'm almost tempted to try. I hear the bones are as big as toothpicks.

Thanks! Yes, those are grass carp. They were introduced to control vegetation. More importantly they are so much fun to catch on the fly. The big one in the clip took 2 days to get an eat and 9 mins to land!

Orvis had a photo contest called "20 Days in September" going on all month. It was a fun challenge to get out an fly fish as much as possible. I was able to get all 20 days in and made a short fun video of the adventure. I caught bream, carp, bass, and a snapping turtle. I didn't fish hard and had fun trying to get some cool photographs....you can see those here: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2016/09/orvis-20-days-in-september-contest.html

Thanks guys for following my adventures. Always makes my day to hear it! So I have these pictures b/c I've been trying to get a blog post up about how I use my gopro....that's been a few weeks....I'm slacking!!

I always keep the case on, for the water and impact. But I can imagine the quality is better. I'm just afraid I'll break it. I've watched my kids throw it in the air from a swimming pool and crash on the pool deck w/o hurting the camera (in the case). I made my own float with a pool noodle and carabiner (it's on my phone but I'll post a pic shortly). It'll keep the camera and the octopus mount I use afloat. I haven't used anything yet. Mostly b/c I'm afraid it'l damage the case. But I might give the rain-x a try...I have to clean water spot from the camera pretty often.

I love mine also. I take it everywhere and film everything. Then pull a screen shot later. I like that better for action shots b/c you can move from frame to frame(if set for 30 fps...you get a bunch of angles and not whatever the time lapse setting is. Here are some screen grabs with no filters. Just moving frame to frame.

Thanks guys. Always appreciate any feedback.

Who's ready for Fall? If last week is an indicator of how the bass fishing is going to be in south Ark...I'm excited!

The last post covering several days on many different types of water. It was a great trip...cant believe I waited so long to fish Colorado. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2016/09/colorado-part-3.html

Regular in boats, when I wear my waders, winter and in rivers. I have an manual inflatable for my kayak, when I'm in really shallow water and for summer. The story from the FLW event where John Cox's pfd didn't inflate. http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1532863-bass-boat-wreck-in-smith-lake-flw-tour-event

Help finding a fishing kayak
Plastic_worm replied to nymphermaniac's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
It would be hard to make any real suggestions w/o knowing what type of fishing you do...from your screen name looks like maybe a fly fisher. If you're near a dealer today is a great day to look. Most have sales going on, demo boats for 1/2 price, rentals, etc. I just saw a FB post from one that said "no reasonable offer refused" -
Just got back from a week in Colorado. Part 1 here: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2016/09/intro-to-colorado-part-1.html

There are some videos on Youtube if you decide to diy, but I think most dealers do repairs for a fee. OMTC comes to mind.

This is the follow-up video to the caught in a storm post. Maybe this will explain why I didn't notice the storm approaching...these are small compared to a few I saw. Gar fever! https://youtu.be/viWogo2iHk4

GoPro Hero4 Silver review
Plastic_worm posted a topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
After 7 months of use decided to do a detailed review. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2016/07/gopro-hero4-silver-review.html -
That made me laugh. Now I wonder why they don't just sell them pre-inflated. I guess the real answer is I'm cheap and hoped I'd wouldn't need it.

That sucks man, sorry to hear that.

I usually post fishing stuff. Not the case this time. Had a humbling experience when I got caught out in a storm Sunday. Not my proudest moment but there are lessons to be learned. I learned a few the hard way. Words and short video (not an edit just real life stuff) here. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2016/07/caught-in-storm-kayakers-nightmare.html

Thanks for the shout out. I stumbled upon it also and was shocked to see it. I had no idea!
