  1. Winter bass fishing has been insane....story at: http://jacksonkayak.com/blog/2016/02/13/side-effects/ More pics: https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy/?ref=hl https://www.instagram.com/looknfishy/ http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/ Just a few pics...
  2. Mitch - Thx for the feedback. It was from a few trips with an emphasis on changing the view. Took some time, on the water (fun) and editing (not as fun), but it's getting faster. Still got a lot to learn...I missed a pretty awesome catch b/c I didn't clear my sd card....it cut out on the last 10 minutes of a trip. Harris122 - Lol, this trip wasn't but I'll be up that way on a trout trip soon, I hope I'll post a pic of the big bass I didn't get on film as a new thread.
  3. Latest short video...
  4. Have fun. One of my favorite, if not my favorite species to catch!
  5. Lol....that's why I'm there in the winter. I went to the same place last April...had a gator flip out trying to get under the vegetation. Needed a change of undies. lol!!
  6. Thx everyone. J-Doc the general area is around Felsenthal.
  7. Winter fishing has been pretty good in South Arkansas. Short video I did from last week. https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/ https://www.instagram.com/looknfishy/
  8. Wish I had caught some big ones. I think I broke my smallest fish ever record! In the mouth!! https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  9. What they said^^ but not after Memorial day if you want more fish and less canoe hatch. April thru the first few weeks in May. https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  10. Congrats on the kayak purchase. Lots of great info above, all I would add is to take it out several times and see what works for you. I have a rudder, anchor trolley, cooler, fish finder, paddle holder, rod holders, etc. After time I started eliminating stuff...first was the FF (didn't like setting it up each trip), paddle holder-found way to secure it w/o adding attachments that snag fly line or make noise when I use it. My point is every attachment will be useful at times but only you know what you need currently. The best way to know that is to go fishing and see what you can't fish without. With all that said the rudder is something I use the most. However, I never use it on Ozark rivers/streams, doesn't really work on fast flows and where you need maneuverability. Better as tool to help guide you in the wind. I fly fish from mine so my suggestion for fly fishing is the more stuff you add, the more stuff your fly line will snag. Knots in bungees, rod holders, knobs, and everything else in the kayak!! A paddle with hook removal tool has been really useful for getting to hard to reach snags. I use that little slot in the paddle to rescue my fly line all the time...especially from the rudder, but also lily pads, my streamers from under the water. If you have any other questions, I check this weekly but I'm always on my FB and blog, give me a holler. I'll help any way I can...I'm a kayak junkie. Have fun! http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy/ looknfishy@gmail.com
  11. Don't know anything about it. Website says services available March 2016. SongDogKayakRental.com https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/ https://www.instagram.com/looknfishy/
  12. Maybe Tenkara, b/c mine has been killing me since I got back from SELA. I have an ace band from WM that helps some...but not enough. I'll google this!
  13. If you find yourself waiting in long lines at the mall, this might make that experience not so bad. My latest short in So Much Waterhttps://www.joomag.com/magazine/mag/0442822001444766584/p76
  14. Well that escalated quickly.... On a side note, I see I've graduated to the admirable "Checkered Madtom" on my profile
  15. All the insects were out. Gnats/mosquitoes were out in force w/ no wind. But the VS amber romance helps with the gnats. That's the main reason for the buffed out ninja in most pics. I do frequently get out on the islands. They are firm enough to walk but that also means stirring up the insects. On a side note, I saw a ton of raccoons this trip. More than ever before and they were miles out in the marsh.
  16. Thx, haven't fished reds in TX yet but I really want to. I hear you can wade fish the reds. That would be cool.
  17. Thx, you'll have a great time when you do
  18. Blog post to go along with the pictures I posted in the "Other Regions" area http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/12/pot-of-gold.html
  19. Let me know when you're ready.
  20. Everything was subsurface. Most are visual. I'm addicted to watching a red chase down and crush a fly. The big red, I saw from about 50 yds away. It was crushing bait in deep water. I got close and put a streamer in front of it. I didn't see the take, but I saw him turn and the V closing in. Then the line went tight.
  21. A few have seen the pics on my FB page https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy/?ref=tn_tnmn Just a few from a great trip. My happy place!
  22. That's awesome. Like you, I like trout, but I love fly fishing. I'm an every species kayak fly angler. Just a few from this summer https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  23. Not pushing a brand...I don't work for any kayak manufacturer...I just fish. The cuda 12 is the "all-around" fits most water types kayak from JK...at least that's how it's marketed. I agree and use it as such (marsh, lakes, rivers, swamps, I've island hoped on lake Ouachita, etc). It's a tough kayak. Stays on my truck 100% of the time, in all weather conditions and where ever I drive...MN - SELA this year and in between. I fly fish from it all the time...I wish it were more...but my wife would put a hole in it or maybe me, if I did. The cuda 14 is the bigger water boat. https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  24. I have a cuda 12 and think it handles lakes and rivers well. It turns well enough and tracks well enough for every thing I do....I'm in it a lot and in a lot of water types. I agree with Ham, not sure you need a Coosa HD. I'd look at getting her a cruise (if you want to stay with JK) or other rec kayak...native has some good ones with nice seats. I attached the links to my blog and FB page, they might be helpful in helping you make a decision...nothing for sale...I just fish! http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/looknfishy?ref=hl
  25. Not affiliated but something I would read. Saw this on FB this morning... From Chris Payne...We are piloting Kayak Fly Fishing Magazine to see if we need to make full sized magazines or just inserts. If you'd like to check out the preview and let us know what you think it would be greatly appreciated. http://kayakbassfishing.com/kayak-bass-fishing-magazine/kayak-fly-fishing-magazine/
