He forgot to mention $999 PLUS THE COST INVOLVED FOR THE OBVIOUS NEED FOR "NEW UPHOLSTERY"

Phil Lilley, in my opinion, contributes more good to the area than anyone . . . He has become a one-man "NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH" force, a supplier of maps to help all of us negotiate the sometimes-threatening waters and familiarize us with the various markers and holes along the way, a composer of extremely detail and current fishing reports often accompanied with video and technique and on and on and on . . . extremely helpful and willing to go out of his way to simply improve the Taneycomo experience for all of us . . . Phil, I hereby crown thee the true "MR. T" (T for Taneycomo, of course)

Looking For A Good Spot To Take The Family Fishing
crackleback replied to jimithyashford's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
fishing is just that - "FISHING" . . . not necessarily "CATCHING" . . . your requirements and expectations are above and beyond those of most experienced anglers . . . comfortable setting, CONSISTENT CATCHING for several hours IN ONE PLACE, kids not complaining . . . I don't know if the Ozarks' best guide service could pull that one off . . . sounds like an ideal day in the hereafter to me:) -
beautiful brown! . . . Phil, can't thank you enough for always making me feel like I am somewhat in touch with the latest happenings at Taneycomo . . . your info is always the best, up-to-date and greatly appreciated by those who enjoy the area . . . I know it takes a great deal of effort on your part to continually get these posts on the site . . . please know that they are SO MUCH APPRECIATED by everyone . . . THANK YOU:)

nice job . . . beautiful brown:)
-
thanks abkeenan . . . this photo was taken with my "fishin camera" . . . Canon SD870IS ELPH . . . does a great job and, unlike a cell phone camera, produces high enough resolution to produce an enlarged print with detail . . . I remember years back near St Louis along the Great River Road in Alton, Illinois, people would line up at roadside fish stands to buy deep fried boneless carp sandwiches fresh-caught out of the Illinois River . . . there must be a way to prepare them without the bones:)

the line is Bass Pro Shops XPS Signature Series and it made a believer out of me . . . I had to keep increasing the drag setting as my spool neared the end time after time . . . I'm sure I came as close as you can to the breaking point . . . the line performed better than I would have ever expected . . . incidentally, that's a ZinkerZ PBJ (5” . . . cut in half) on a 1/8 oz Chompers mushroom-head jig

thanks for the positive comments on the photo . . . it is kind of a "pretty" ugly fish . . . it was a lot of fun . . . kept me in suspense for the first 10 minutes until I finally got a glimpse of it . . . unwound my 100 yd spool to within 10 yards of the end on at least five different occasions . . . hope everyone out there gets to experience a "surprise" hook-up like this at least once in their lifetime . . . been seeing so many great photos of bass on the forum this season that I thought I'd throw everyone a curve to break it up a little:)

Fellows Lake Marina
crackleback replied to Richline2258's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Hmmmm? interesting and confusing . . . I took my boat to Fellows about 10 days ago to get the annual sticker . . . that afternoon the only person person working at the marina was a woman I'd guess to be in her 40s . . . very kind and helpful regarding any questions I had . . . I specifically asked her about fishing the marina cove . . . she replied "YES, you may fish the non-marina shoreline all the way back, but you are not allowed to fish the boat slip side or the dock itself" . . . she made no mention of any handicap designation . . . she was not hesitant with her answer and seemed very knowledgeable about any question I asked . . . I fished Fellows yesterday for the first time since getting the boat permit . . . I started back into the marina cove and noticed the two buoys . . . the buoy on the right was difficult to read, but the buoy on the left clearly read "KEEP OUT" . . . obviously contradicting what she told me . . . being unsure of what is and what is not allowable, I left the cove:-( -
thanks for the update . . . I would not have anticipated seeing the kind of water conditions you just described . . . very helpful:-)
-
please check out topic below for the details of the results I had in attempting to apply everyone's spinnerbait techniques . . . sorry for the confusion caused by my mis-dated post :-)

Thanks so much to all who shared advice on techniques for using a blade . . . . . I had a fun afternoon (1pm to 6pm) and a great learning experience with using the blade . . . . this was the first time ever that I truly gave the blade a chance . . . . but it won't be the last . . . . I purchased and threw the the War Eagle 3/8 ounce "mouse" spinnerbait and decided to put a trailer hook on it rather than a plastic trailer or going naked . . . . the wind was kicking up quite a bit so I decided to anchor off main lake points (one-by-one with gravel and chunk rock) with the wind blowing into them . . . . . I would anchor out far enough that I could come within 2 to 3 of the shoreline when casting with the wind at my back . . . . in most cases this would mean that the boat was in 15 to 20 feet of water . . . . . I tried burning, medium and erratic retrieves . . . to my surprise, most of the strikes came on erratic retrieves (throwing to the shoreline, burning it out 4 to 6 feet, pausing for a short fall, twitching it a couple of time "hard", resuming the retrieve in a medium to fast speed, letting it fall again for a second or two, two or three more hard twitches, etc . . . . . . . it seemed to me that most of the strikes came on the twitches after the fall . . . . . sometimes I would make 7 or 8 casts within 4 to 5 feet of the same spot or piece of structure before I would get bit . . . . 13 bass, all largemouth, 3 keeps (all released), largest only 2 1/2 lbs . . . . no damaged or deep-hooked fish . . . . I loved every moment of the afternoon . . . . this is a perfect example of how great this forum is and how generous everyone is in "teaching" members techniques of their own to enable others to share the joy of this great sport . . . . . thank you, thank you, thank you to all who were willing to share their techniques with this new and now much-more-confident spinnerbait beginner . . . . . Note: I could not get to Table Rock on this particular outing so I went to Stockton-dam area-Crabtree access . . . . hardly anyone on the lake . . . . looking forward to next week when I will be able to make it for a day to Table Rock to try the blade . . . I will report back . . . . I sure like that War Eagle "mouse" blade

9-30-11 Table Rock Lake Fishing Report
crackleback replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
From a novice blader, I'd like to say thanks especially to Bill and C188 for the online seminars your info provides to those who cannot get out very often . . . it helps to keep us in touch with current techniques and conditions and is much appreciated . . . . . in general, when fishing transition areas with the blade, do you use a plastic trailer, or just a trailer hook, or both or just the naked blade right out of the package? . . . . and, regardless of depth, do you burn just under the surface more often than not or slow-roll it? . . . . thanks again . . . . I envy your wealth of knowledge and success :-)
