Try Rio. Its worth the extra couple bucks especially when gunning for big fish.
-
That looks like a cross with a brookie. If I'm not mistaken, you can tell by the bigger black spots along the lateral line. I'm not familiar with that river, is there any brookie history there?

I agree. The brothers are definetely prepared when gunning for these bad boys. Heavy spinning rods at night with heavy rapalas and heavy line, and a ton of it. It was an awesome catch though, and congratulations to him, even for a triploid. My opinion is to give him ( and his brother with the previous world record) the world record he deserves, but in a "triploid rainbow trout" class. They have a different DNA patten than a typical trout, how can they be considered the same? From my point of view it seems only fair to the world and the only way to make this legitimate.

Just curious... Does anyone know what the beast was caught on? Size of Line? Spin or fly fishing? Congrats to the angler who caught it! I hope she put up a heck of a fight too! That makes it ten times better I think.

There is no question about it, Stockingfoot. Bootfoot are heavier not as flexible and I don't think any come with studs either. Get yourself some stockingfoots and a good pair of Chota boots and you will not be dissappointed.

I agree.

Friday 8-14-09 Report Maramec Spring Park
ohmz138 replied to Bman's topic in Maramec State Park/Springs
We will get them big boys soon enough pop. I know I am ready for a lunker busting vacation! -
I must agree about Danna's. My dad and I went there on our trip this weekend and were more than satisfied with their Danna's burger. Plus they serve beer and their onion rings are killer. It was very good. The Danna's Burger even comes with some pulled pork on it also, thought that was a cool plus.
-
It would of been good to have the boat but I still had a great time.
-
See you guys there. me and pop are heading down for the weekend.
-
Thats a cute picture Dad. We have to check that water out a little more sometime soon. Ill jump in after em if ya hook em again. Did you show em what the ol' RiverPro can do?

A Great Day Fishing At Meramec Spring Park
ohmz138 replied to Bman's topic in Maramec State Park/Springs
Back at ya pop. -
That's a monster Leonard! I saw one of those down there from dad's boat a few years back. I thought it was a log! Big fish! Anyway, my biggest was around 10 lbs. 26" x 17" as I recall. One day I will catch up with pop. Yeah right.

Whatever brand it is, I would just use 6-10 lb flourocarbon. I usually have a spinning rod with 6 one with eight and a baitcaster with 10 or even 12.

Need A Little Help Picking Out New Waders
ohmz138 replied to TroutFearMe's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
I currently have a pair of Orvis Clearwater waders. I cannot beleive the mileage I have pulled from them. I have fallen down countless times on big rocks , logs, moss, concrete, hooked them, zipped them up in my wader bag zipper, and after two and a half years they just now have a tiny pinhole leak from a small hook. I fixed it in no time with a tube of aquaseal. For the money, those Clearwaters are worth it! If I was to buy another pair, I would probably buy the Pro Guide 3 waders from Orvis for a couple reasons. My last pair was very well constructed. They have stronger seams and have articulated legs. They are a little thinner than most of the Simms waders so if I need to I can bundle up in the winter and still be comfortable in the summer. Simms can be very hot in the spring and summer. Also they have an exterior hand warmer pocket that can be helpful in the deep winter, one of my favorite times to fish. Plus, they still can convert to hip waders simply by folding the top half in. Furthermore, Simms and the rest are nice and all, but for the money and versatility of Orvis waders and the outstanding performance I've had with the cheapest pair, I would go with the Orvis Pro Guide 3 waders ( with a nice pair of Chota boots, can't beat those either). Have fun in CO. Matt -
A good teacher doesnt hurt either.. pop;)

I quit almost a year ago, but when I did smoke I would most of the time dunk it in water to put it out then knock the rest of the tobacco out then throw the butt in my chestpack, stunk up my chestpack for awhile but i couldnt smell it until after i quit. To anyone that even somewhat wants to quit, ask your doctor about Chantix. Seriously, it works, it worked for me and at least ten other people that I know. Think of all the fishin stuff you could buy with 150 bucks a month (5bucks x 30 days)! Its like getting paid to save your life.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Thanks for the info troutfishn, I bet you have fished out there once or twice huh. I will fish the lakes probably in the order you suggested them. You said if I can walk it would be better though, I plan on getting a boat when I go out there, do those few lakes have boats?
-
Im not interested in keeping any really nice fish.... having said that, what is everyone's favorite bass lakes? They dont have to be strictly catch and release lakes, I'm just wondering what would be my best bet to get into em and maybe a few suggestions for lakes to take my kids fishing at, they are four years old and two years old. Thanks for any feedback guys. Tight Lines Matt

Yeah they have been around a long time and they catch everything pretty much. They have a great wide wobble to em. -
If your going down on Lake Taneycomo, the one and only CHUCK GRIES with http://www.anglersandarchery.com/ is the man down there. He will put you on fish wherever you go, boat (He has a very comfortable G3 boat for when water is running) or wade fishing, whatever the conditions might be. He will teach you all you need to know, work with you and whoever is with you, very reasonably priced as well. He will improve your game 100% in some cases! He certainly gave me a whole new outlook on spot fishing! Let me say it again, CHUCK is the man! His son Adam is pretty darn good too. Their fly shop has whatever you need, and is just a cool place to hang out and talk fishin. Fishing with Chuck is an awesome experience!!! All thumbs, toes, and fingers way up in the air for Anglers and Archery. He is not just a guide to many, he is our friend...not too mention one of the best trout magnets I have ever seen. Check out the site or go into the shop and check out the pictures! He personally has helped me and my dad out tremedously and taught us so much about the sport...hats off to you Chuck, we will be back time and time again. Here is just a few of the bruisers he has put me and pop on during the annual run of the browns. Good times, good times Look at that line scream! Man what a time! Bring your running shoes in the fall for sure!!!! A couple years back my father hooked up with the fish of a lifetime, a 17 pounder!!! He battled that beast for a couple hours, during generation, up and down 100 yard stretch of upper taneycomo, when he realized that he might need some help getting the biggest fish he has ever caught in, he got his phone out and called Chuck. Chuck was up in the shop at the time, he then hung up, and was down with my old man in the water chasing that fish in a matter of 5 or 10 minutes!!! Thanks to Chuck, my dad landed that fish and is getting a replica made of it as we speak! Released unharmed, a 29 inch 17lb male brown with a beak big enough to take your hand off!!! lol. What a fish! Check out the picture on BMAN's profile to see it. Thanks, again Chuck for the unforgetable memories.
