  1. Of the three areas highlighted, I can see one out of my family room. To say there is an increase in fishing this area is an understatment! Started seeing boats last weekend, but this weekend there were more. There are a lot of people reading this info and giving it a try. z22
  2. Thanks for your help. z22
  3. I have asked the dealers around the lake, Ulrich and Cope do not sell "loose" motors. I am looking for a new Merc 250 PRO XS. Any help would be appreciated. z22
  4. Techo, You got to stop posting this early in the morning. After reading your post I had to clean up the coffee I shot all over laughing about your post. May try fishing Saturday Happy New Year Z22
  5. I'm fishing. Putting in at Aunts Creek, maybe see you there Techo. z22
  6. Techo I (we) drive a Red Yukon, 99.9% of the time, my wife is driving and backs the boat in the water, boat red/white. She won't let me back the boat in--she knows I will make a fool of myself. She decided 36 years ago, I was no track star, running back and forth from the truck to the boat, and why add to the show of people who can't put their boat in, or take it out. I am first to admit, I am very luckly. I will be on the lookout z22
  7. Techo Thanks for the report. I will be putting in at Aunts Creek this weekend, and as you my wife is my favorite partner/boat backer. Surprised I have not run into you at Aunts Creek, we use this ramp just about every weekend. I usually fish in the AM by myself, the afternoons we spend the day on the lake. Having a house a little over a mile from the ramp is fantastic! z22
  8. Before this year I was breaking floro line quite a bit, using an improved clinch. This was with Seaguar floro. For floro line only I have switched to the Eugene Bend knot, and I have got to say what an improvement! Hardly any breakoffs, and as long as you what your line for nicks, this knot in my opinion is the way to go with floro. z22
  9. I was also at the Aunts Creek Ramp Saturday around noon. Was so bad, we put the boat in the water and my wife took the truck and trailer home, and we met at the neighbors boat dock. People very inconsiderate, and I am not sure they know any better. Cars, trucks, trailers parked everywhere in every direction. This was worse than the 4th of July weekend. I did fish early Saturday and was pleasantly surprised with the old B&P Jig. Fish were shallower than I thought. Ran up the James and saw whites schooling at 2 in the afternoon, great fun. Z22
  10. Now that I have a Hacienda at our lake and I have the chance, inbetween fixups and honey dos, to fish this pond more than the 36 years of me and the wife coming down to fish. I have enjoyed getting out and trying things new, because I know that I will be back very soon to try something else. This goes with being a fisherman...I like Bill want bites, and refine the pattern from there. When my son and his wife come down they are looking to catch fish, no matter what the size. The guides here provide A LOT of good information, and if followed you will catch fish, it is up to the fisherman to "find em". I wonder what the reaction would be if this swamp rat who called Bill was getting quizzed like he was quizzing Bill. They just don't get it. Don't want to talk about the conduct of these "pros" on the water, when they are pushing you off of a spot. I now call point 9, front end point. Enough ranting. Z22
  11. Haven't had a chance to post this, back in late May, I was waking a Red-Fin and had a fish hit so hard I thought I had the lake record smallie. After a good fight, when the fish got close to the boat he saw me and just about broke the rod over the gunnel. No smallie, no white, looked like a striper to me, too long and lean to be a white. Do we have striper/hybrids in the pond? Z22
  12. Well after a lot of trial, tribulation, myself and the wife will be homeowners, in Reeds Spring. Closing 4th of July weekend. The bankers can't make up their mind if we are in KC or RS, who cares we got a home at the lake!! I am looking forward to fishing throughout the summer, and want to give the "off" season a try, (Dec, Jan, Feb) I am sure the fishing will be great, and if it isn't who cares, better be out slinging a jig than sitting at home. Still have a chance to get a boat stall in a 6 stall dock. Mr. Babler didn't think more than 10 to 15 for a stall, is the opinion on this still the same? Would not leave the boat there when I am not, but as a convience maybe. Thanks Z22
  13. 2006 Ranger Z22--Ranger Cup colors (Red-White-black bottom)--Mercury Pro XS Down Starting May 7 thru the weekend.
  14. I went out aroung noon on Saturday to try this, and not use anything else. Seems to me this is one way to catch them right now. I have caught them them this way, but never used this as a "first choice" After putting a contract on a house earlier in the day, I was as nervous as a dad watching his 5 year old use his g-loomis as a light sabre. Needless to say I went to a windy point, and gave it a try. The first hookup was a nice 3+ SJ that after, he gave me a good fight, kindly returned my grub to me without me having to unhook him. It was time to quit thinking about the house and start thinking about fishing. The next 45 minutes was so much fun, my wife told me at least 3 times, you are having too much fun. When the bite went away, I tried another area, no wind=no fish. Thanks to the guys who put out the reports, they really helped me find another way to have a good time on the water. Z22
  15. Thanks for all the comments. Right now I can't think about giving up fishing but who knows. Been going to the Rock since 73, introduced my family to the area, and hopefully my wife will be able to work from home, so who cares where home is at. Bill thanks for the info on boat stall, it is with the property, but I thought they were asking quite a bit for it. I do know that 2 or three years ago slips were going for a pretty high price. Z22
  16. My wife and I have been looking at houses in the area for a 2-3 years now, and will be looking real close at one in the next week. This house is in a sub division. What is everyone's opinion on a boat slip ? Seems most of you trailer your boat ? Is there much break in problems in KC ? I know there have been boat break-ins with boats left on the water. Any infomation on houses ? We will retire here, don't have an exact time, maybe a year or two. Then I don't have to read about fishing I can be out there with you guys. Thanks to everyone, your help is appreciated. Z22
