A good portion of the time canoers and tubers are more to blame for problems between themselves and jet boats than are the boats. You can hear a jet boat coming from a long ways off and unless you are an idiot you have ample time to make sure you are not in a position to cause a problem if the boat comes through.
I was at bagnell yesterday and did very well. We caught around 20 eater sized cats, a few drum, and a spoonbill. Anchored below the dam fishing with cut chad. Had a couple of nice sized fish on that came off before we could see them. Got a ton of bites the whole day.
The floating was pretty good. The water was up some so we only had to drag like 2 in a 6 mile trip. The camping however was not so good when a rainstorm rolled through for about an hour and soaked everything down. I was sleeping on a mattress in the back of my truck but that got a little wet so I had to sleep in the cab which is not very comforable.
Gonna head up to bagnell tomorrow but as of right now I don't know if i wanna bring the boat or just fish off the bank. Bad thing about the boat is that it will take me an extra 120 miles of driving to get it/take it back. How many of you guys fish from the bank?
Anyone that knows what is going on gonna be there tomorrow?
I am hoping to make it up there saturday. Hopefully they are still biting when i get there. Got any tips? This will be my first trip to bagnell in a long time and the first ever out of a boat.
I am thinking about fishing there this weekend. Hoping for some catfish but will take whatever. If i can't get anything to bite will prolly just do some bowfishing.
There is a snagging season that lasts from march 15th to april 30th or may 15th depending on where you are. and then a fall/winter season for the mississippi. If it is not during that season you can not snag for anything even asian carp and other trash fish. So you will just have to wait for next year to snag them.
I would encourage you and everyone to take a few minutes to get on the conservation website and look over the regs. May save you a hefty ticket one day for doing something you didn't know was wrong or out of season.

Anyone know what the river looks like around here?
Been a long time since I put in there but it is close to home and was wondering if it would be worth my time to make a trip to do some boat riding swimming and maybe try to catch a channel cat or something.
