Thanks for the tips gentlemen. After rethinking my predicament, I remembered I jumped from downtown to the trophy area and never focused on the fall creek to trout hollow stretch. Hit the channel side with jigs, tossed up shallow and twitched into deeper water. Every hit came on the big fall into deeper water. White and brown both worked and we picked up bites on nearly every cast. Fished lower end of trophy area in the morning with yellow egg patterns and did well also. I figured out depth was my problem in the trophy area, wasn't fishing deep enough. Started watching where the fish were feeding in the water column and started picking up more fish. Had to keep readjusting our depths as we noticed the fish changing theirs. Saturday was a massive improvement over Friday. Thanks for the tips guys.

So I have fished Taney for years and never had trouble catching trout. I've got two newbies with me and we fished from noon to six. We threw jigs, brown and white both, straight line and under floats. We threw spinners, flies, power eggs, nightcrawlers, trout magnets, everything I could think of. Anybody have any ideas for tomorrow because today was my worst day on Taney ever. Basically fishing from lookout to the landing out of a pontoon and wont be using a flyrod. Any help is appreciated because I'm clueless.

Holy heck man, I never knew what became of you. I freaking love that boat, until I had to push it over a dry levee in pool 6. Sliced opened a perfectly good pair of waders on the prop in the process. Lots of blood has been shed on that bad boy. Someone is getting an awesome deal. And there may even be an old bottle of blackberry brandy rolling under the bench

I found this lake a handful of years back while working. I was amazed at the absolutely huge state of the art parking lot/boat ramp. The lake looks fantastic, tons of wood and grass to fish. All I caught were dinks while fishing the banks. I started hauling the boat down there a few times and it didn't get much better. It seemed like it was one of those lakes where you can literally catch a fish on every cast, but never catch anything of size. I tried throwing big crankbaits, 10" worms, anything I could think of to coax a big fish to bite and it just never happened. They could definitely be in there.......but I couldn't get them.

I prefer to fish the swimming minnows with a twitch and reel approach, twitch 2-3 times and reel in the slack. I've had pretty good luck on days they are biting. I was looking for the sliders yesterday and could only find the shorter crappie sliders and I couldn't find any in purple or white/chart like I was looking for. I know I talked with one gentleman down there last year that was using the bigger bass sliders in white/chart and he was doing well. I normally throw a 1/16oz jighead. I've been having trouble finding a good jighead with a longer shank and wider gap. Do you guys pay any attention to the color of the jig head? Any specific style of jighead or brand that you prefer?

I've fished the upper bull shoals area during the spring run the past few years. I originally started out with jerkbaits and had zero luck. During the past 3 years, I normally throw roostertails (white/chrome blade), roadrunners (white/chart), and 2" grubs in basic minnow colors on an 1/8 or 1/16 head. I've caught everything from whites & walleye to trout and crappie. Is there anything ya'll like better? I know several people are throwing sliders. Do you prefer the smaller sliders for crappie or the bigger bass sliders? Favorite go-to colors? Favorite jighead style, color, or size? I'm definately curious what everyones comfort lure is.

a buddy of mine is one of the blues brothers at the legends show. He showed pics of the roof collapsed. that's just up the hill from phil and the rest of the resorts. Haven't been able to get in contact with another friend that was in Kimberling City for the Everstart Series. Unofficially, the tournament is cancelled. The pictures of the kimberling inn are pretty bad. Word is they will have to level the whole thing and start over.

x6 Here's gonna be your biggest problem......your dad. Training isn't overly difficult, it takes about 15 minutes a day of actual training. But the person that spends the most time around your dog has to be trained too. I've got several friends that are dog trainers and they can make a dog do some amazing things. I was floored after sending my dog to get trained by all the cool stuff she could do. Then I stood right by the trainer and tried to do things the exact same way and the dog was horrible. It wasn't that the dog would only work for the trainer, it was little things that I wasn't doing correctly. My commands weren't right, my hand signals weren't right, my body language wasn't right. So once we fixed that, things got better. The next hurdle though, was that I would let her get away with more than the trainer would. Things like creeping, not sitting straight, etc. Those small things snowballed into bigger things that had to be fixed later with the trainer. If your dad is gonna be the type that lets the dog lay on the couch, eat table scraps, treats the dog like a human, etc, then I wish you the best of luck. You might get lucky, you might not. Just do the best you can and hope for the best.

I've had hodgmans heavy neoprene duck hunting waders and their lightweight breathables both with zippers and both have worked flawlessly.

I was just at Montauk last week staring at the big map on the wall of the lodge. It still said there only 1 brown a day, so that must've been the case in the past.

I'll just chime in and tell you that this is a FANTASTIC pellet rifle for anyone that is in the market. These suckers are powerful and tack drivers to boot.

Hey Al, one of these days I need to pick your brain about that section of the Big where my inlaws live. Always been a lake and pond guy myself and that river fishing is just foreign to me. I should definately take advantage of the high water as we normally can't get upstream with the outboard due to small water and big rocks. Hollar if you ever need a partner down there!

Hate to see all the troubles down that way. Friend of mine made a frantic trip down to ozark trout resort to help those guys out. As of last night, they lacked about 6" before it would get in their lower units. He was out on the dock making adjustments when he said it looked like Lilley had parts of his dock cave in. Lots of docks floating downstream. I've heard rumors that Fall Creek resort might've lost a dock too. Bad bad times but sounds like people are safe.
