Not sure if you're still looking, but I have a galvanized trailer, that came with a 17' fiberglass boat. Has a title, needs work, mostly on lights and probably needs bearings greased. Sell it for $400.

There are a few examples where the lowest common denominator doesn't win out. Brunswick bought Boston Whaler many years ago and while there have been some 'synergies' that haven't been positive (only available with Merc's), much of the unique features and quality that Whaler was known for (stainless everywhere, foam filled hulls, all tinned copper wiring, and phenolic backing) have remained. Turned out that Brunswick liked the idea they could charge more for a premium product. Unfortunately...what Bass Pro has done to Mako does not look promising for Ranger...

I've been a member on this site for a long time, since I moved to the Ozarks in 2009. I've always found this site a huge help and I've contributed one those very few occasions when I felt like I could. I got Phil's email a few months ago about advertising, so that ad for Springfield Dental Care is for my dental office, I'm a general dentist in Springfield. I'm amazed already how many people that I knew through work are fisherman and frequented this site but we had never talked about it. Thanks to all the regulars who are so kind with their information and time, this is a great community that exists for all of us who like to live and fish in the Ozarks.

I'm selling my Boston Whaler Montauk 170. This has been a great boat and I'm the original owner. I've used it for fishing and family time here in the Ozarks, mostly at Table Rock. For more info, please see craigslist ad: http://springfield.craigslist.org/boa/4379947875.html It does include a Humminbird 998 CSI Graph and is ready for bass fishing or anything else you might enjoy! Paddlefish Egg Deal Kind Of Wrangles My Feathers
ktm3ten replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
If you want something to flourish, give humans an incentive to keep it going. We call that incentive...profit. Things become extinct when no one has a motive to promote it's continued existence but only it's destruction. Teaching a kid to throw parts of an animal in the trash, particularly when they are parts that are valued by someone else, does not teach the value of life, a catch, or the sanctity of harvest. -
Paddlefish Egg Deal Kind Of Wrangles My Feathers
ktm3ten replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
The problem here is that our culture has taught for so many years now that 'profit' is a dirty word. Our whole popular culture tells us every day that those who work for nothing and non-profit is good and wholesome but those who seek profit are dirty and ruthless. While there are dirty and ruthless people, profit is not. In this case, someone is willing to pay thousands of dollars (that they presumably gained from honest work somewhere else) in exchange for these eggs. For fear that someone harvests these eggs in hopes of making money, we decide to use the government to destroy a resource. Bill couldn't be more right here, our fear of profit seeking is causing the destruction in potentially millions of dollars of wealth, simply thrown away. I like sport, I like the outdoors and serenity it provides. I also think that guides who make a profit by taking customers out to enjoy this and teaching new people the beauty of our sport is good and both client, guide, and casual sportsman like me and all those who read this board, benefit from that trade. Our guides that have sustainable businesses that exist for many years are not 'raping' the resource, they have more interest in protecting it than anyone...and so the profit motive goes. Similarly, I met a family a couple weeks ago who saved up all year to drive down from Mexico, MO for dad to teach his 9 year old boy what snaggin' is all about. They were cleaning a monster paddlefish and were disposing of the eggs, telling me about this travesty. If we'd allow them to utilize the several thousand dollar resource they harvested, their lives, regular people, and the community they live in (and potentially they fish in) would be made better. Instead, for fear of 'profit', we use government to force them to throw the eggs in the dumpster and pay their own darn gas to get home. Who wins here? -
Those commercials where he's braggin about the SHO's "holeshot" are going to be even funnier lookin' now. I've never understood the holeshot thing...?

Humminbird 997C Si With New Transducer/gps For Sale
ktm3ten replied to ktm3ten's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Price drop to $925 -
I am selling a used Humminbird 997c SI GPS/Sonar unit. This has been used for 4 years, has always worked flawlessly and has been updated to latest software. I am only selling because I upgraded to a 998. It will come with a brand new side imaging transducer and a brand new GPS unit (I didn't remove the old one's so you will get the ones that came with 998), cover, power cable, and standard mounting bracket (also new). The bad: There is one small scrape on the power cord from mounting that I have covered with repair tape. It does not affect the performance of the unit at all and the scrape doesn't go through to the wire, just the outside jacket. Asking $1150. Call or text Nick at 303-918-9080 or send me a PM or email to coloktm@mac.com Thanks for looking!

Again, be careful on rules. A recent discussion on a wakeboard site talked about Livewells as a way to spread invasive species. They had never considered their pump in/out ballast tanks...
-
Everyone should remember, when you say, "they should make a law..." you may not like that law. I've lived in several places where fisherman made requests about skiers/wakeboards, etc. Many of those lakes ended up with restrictions that affected fisherman too. Horsepower limitations, speed limits, whole sections of lakes off limits to certain activities, etc. Try to remember, it's public. When something is public, everyone MUST get along or the lowest common denominator will win. I recently heard some rule makers discussing damage to the docks by wakeboard boats. It was brought up by some of the wakers the amount of fishing gear that is wrapped around their lifts. A serious proposal involved no wakes and no fishing within 100 yards of any dock. I know it's frustrating, but just be careful. Any time you say "they should make a law," you may not like that law and by threat of force from Water Patrol, you will live by it.

We (myself included) always seem to mention when we are treated poorly by retailers and manufacturers, so I thought I'd relay a good experience for once. I bought a Shimano Crucial rod at Bass Pro in May of 2010. Yesterday, while setting the hook (not some crazy hook set, just a firm one), the tip section broke. We can argue that it's my fault because of the way I set the hook, but I fell like a $150 rod shouldn't break when not abused. I've always tried to buy rods with good warranties but have never used one. I did, however, remember that Shimano advertises their "over the counter" lifetime warranty. I took the rod and receipt back to Bass Pro today. I was initially told by the Customer Service desk that I'd have to send it back to Shimano. I walked down to fishing and looked at the tag on the new shimano rods and sure enough, it still says "Over the Counter" lifetime warranty. I asked the manager in the fishing department what gives and he grabbed a similar rod, took me to Customer service and asked me to pay the price difference ($10) since the price had gone up. I felt like this was fair since the rod is 22 months old. I was on my way with a new rod. I really appreciated the fact that they stood behind the product and it makes me much more likely to buy more Shimano rods in the future. Kudos to Bass Pro and Shimano.

First, I'll say that I'm a nobody, I've never fished a tournament (though I'd like to some day), just a guy who likes to go fishing when I can. Yesterday was my first day with A-Rig. Caught 2 great fish, one over 3 lbs and one over 4. So for that, i had a great time, much bigger and more consistent fish than I can usually catch. However, I heard someone say once, "I know I can catch fish with a crank bait, I just don't enjoy it. It's not fun FOR ME." That's kind of how I feel about the A-Rig. It's an efficient system, there's no denying it catches fish. I just don't enjoy it. It's not the physical aspect, it's just not fun. For me, the sudden jerk on a drop shot or a texas rig or of course top water...now that gets my heart going. The A-rig, it's like I either snagged something or I got a fish, but I'm not sure because it's so muted. What do you all think?

just wanted to check in and say hi....I have a Montauk 170, so there's at least 2 of us whalers out on Table Rock this weekend. I've only seen one other whaler in the past w years the rock. Good luck this weekend!
-
Thanks all- I really like the Whaler, it is a 17' Montauk. It's a great boat for fishing out of, the center console makes it very easy to get around and I took the bow rail off mine to mount a trolling motor. I think for a 17' multi use boat, it's a great all arounder. The security in knowing it won't sink is why I bought it...just piece of mind. So far, haven't seen much rough water on Table Rock, but you never know when that wind will come up! Here's a picture, If anyone ever sees the boat out there, come say hi. I can always use any tips cause I'm probably not catching much! Thanks again to everyone for your generous contributions to the site!

Hey all, I'm pretty new to Missouri so fishing Table Rock is a challenge for me. Bass fishing in general is all new to me but reading this site has helped immensely as have the seminars, etc. I fished out of from cape fair to the south today. Water temps rose from 51 when i arrived at Cape Fair Marina to 56.3 degrees at one point in a shallow north side cove. Tried stick baits, smoke grub, and wiggle warts in 3 colors. The firetiger wiggle wart was the answer. I caught 4 k's off of rocky main lake points, each time in 8-10 ft of water. All of them were very hard hits (anything soft and I either don't notice or I instinctively jerk and rip it out!). I know, 4 fish is nothing to brag about but for a guy who's happy just to boat some fish, thought it'd be interesting to some of you all that the warts are starting to work. If anyone is ever out and see's a 17' center console Boston Whaler, come say hi. I know the stickers are coming to identify those of us on the site, but I think I'm the only one on the lake this time of year who doesn't drive a bass boat! Thanks again!

I took these shots yesterday up the James. I think some of these might be spoonbills, but not sure. These were all taken with my 997C SI. Let me know if I'm wrong and this is something else, I'm new to all this!

I moved to MO about 6 months ago and have been spending most weekends on Table Rock, particularly near Cape Fair (I live in Billings). I'm totally new to bass fishing. Growing up in Colorado, I spent most of my time fly fishing. Now that I'm here, I've had good days (for me that means 4 or 5 decent bass) and more than a few rough days of no fish or 1 or 2 blue gill. I feel like I really need some help just getting a basis for bass patterns, what makes a good spot to work, and a lot of help getting through the many techniques. I've learned as much as I can on the web, I can tie a drop shot rig, I know what a shakey head is, I've bought a few redfins and zara spooks. Now I'm ready to learn the best ways to fish these rigs, when to fish what, and most importantly, how I can consistently get on and hook up with some decent fish. I read the reports every day about people's success, I think now I just need some on the water guidance. Are the local guides here mostly out to get people a day of fishing and catch as many as possible or are there some (any in particular) who will spend the day teaching? Am I even at the stage where I wouldn't be wasting a guide's time trying to teach me? Are there any guides who can do some teaching on electronics? I've got a humminbird graph and chart plotter and I'd like some help learning to read that as well. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Can someone explain to me what secondary points are? I just recently moved here and been trying to figure out this bass fishing thing...it's harder than I thought it was going to be!! I read as much as I can, but what is meant by a "secondary point" in the fishing reports? I'm putting in at cape fair and fishing mostly downstream from there. Seems I've tried everything and I catch a few small guys...mostly kentucky's, but getting a bit frustrated. yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back: my wife was fishing (and I use that term loosely) with a nightcrawler and single split shot, she caught 3 decent sized bass, me...nothing. I'm needing some help and guidance before I totally loose my pride. I'm heading out this AM to Cape Fair again, let me know if anyone's got any other pointers. Thanks
