We are coming down the 23rd and staying through the weekend. We will be at Kon Tiki in the Camdenton area. i know the Big Bass was this weekend, any reports as far as what was working what wasn't? I have a couple of friends who were down there and talked about big males up building beds in 1-7ft of water. Think that is going to stay the same? Any suggestions would be helpful. We come down once a year and would love to be able to catch some fish.

thanks for all the tips....heading down tomorrow, I am wondering how this cold snap will affect them
-
well that doesn't make me happy.......keep any pointers coming. We leave at 9 on Thursday so a lot will change between now and then. ANy info is helpful, even if you point me to some good current reports. Most everything i am finding online is over a week old and a ton can change in a week this time of year

Well it's that time of year again. Heading down to Kon Tiki for our yearly family and friends fishing trip. Weather looks decent, but anything compared to the snow last year. I am looking for any info on Bass pasterns that you guys can give. Are they moving onto beds or just on their way up? Anything that seems to be working for you guys?

thanks for the report. good to hear they are in the backs of coves....even with the crazy drop in temps we might be able to find them.
-
thanks. weather is looking crazy for the trip.....i have no clue what we are going to do. low in the 30s over night and high of 50s is going to really jack things up

Lake Of The Ozarks Better Than Table Rock (For Bass)?
brianetz1 replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
I will come at this from a casual fishermen's angle. For 5 straight years we went down to the Rock near shell knob in late april/early may and had OK fishing. We hit it once where we caught about 20 fish in a day with 2 or 3 keeps mixed in. Last year, we decided to try LOTO for our yearly trip just for something different and were catching 20 fish a day minimum with 5+ keeps depending on the weather. It was just easier to fish for the causal fishermen. I know for you guys that are down there or close enough where you fish it often can figure out the patterns based on tree leaf color and the size of the shadow of the Oak on Big Bertha's creek, but for those who don't have that intimate knowledge of that lake it can be pretty finicky The one nice thing about the Rock is that is you never have to be worried about the big boats swamping you while fishing down where we were, but we really have to watch out for that at LOTO. -
Mainly Largemouth all the reports i get is that the cold has really slowed things down......any first hand reports?

I will be fishing May 2-5 in camdenton for my yearly father son fishing trip. Any suggestions on coves, lures, depths? You think they will be in full spawn mode by then? thanks in advance for any suggestions.

good to hear. i think i will be hitting it this weekend hoping that the temp has gone up a few degrees with the warm weather

Heading Down 5/3 - Camdenton Area - Fishing Report?
brianetz1 replied to brianetz1's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.....if you have any other poimters for a once a year bass fishermen at LOTO it would be greatly appreciated. -
great advice. You have helped me in the past when we have been going down to the rock. man i wish there was someone like you in the LOTO forum. Going down there later this week and would love to have similar advice from someone over there. Posted a similar question over there and all i hear is crickets. Those of us who only get out a couple of times a year really appreciate people like you giving us helpful hints so that we don't spend too much time fishing dead water, but don't realize it because we aren't down there all the time. Thanks again for all the help you and others have given in the past.

I know a week can make a difference, but i am heading down for a few days next week and i am looking for anyones report in the camdenton area.....staying at Kontiki resort if that gives you any idea. we will be fishing for bass mostly and i was wondering if the spawn is over, water clarity and if the topwater bite is still kicking. thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I have been out the past few days on lakes 37 and 28 and both were producing. 37 = a ton of short bass on topwater from 6-9 on Tuesday. Nothing big at all, but had fun all day long. Biggest was 1lb at the very most. 28 = the opposite, 8 quality fish smallest just under 15in biggest around 16.5 and around 3lb. Hitting fast moving baits 8 feet of the banks. Seem to be holding to the massive amount of underwater cover. Used 3-5ft silver/black diver for 3 of them, 2 on white chartreuse spinner and 3 on white chatter bait. All moving pretty fast and all strikes were hard.

Can anyone get a pic of the shell knob bridge? we are heading down tomorrow morning regardless of if we fish. Don't want to lose our deposit......i just want to see how the water is around that area to either dash my hopes of getting on the water sometime this weekend or bolster my hopes.
-
bill do you think this water will come down to a managable level by the weekend if you don't get much more rain? i know 4 days is a long time with the darn all the way open
-
we tried to do some fishing in the 2008 flood and we caught 1 fish the whole time. so i can totally agree with you on this one........the uninformed masses have big issues when it is this high.

Novice Fishermen Coming Down The Weekend Of The 28Th
brianetz1 replied to brianetz1's topic in Table Rock Lake
thanks, i tried to reference those two and got what he mentioned on there. With the high water is this going to change anything? still fishing popper/redfin in the morning, then throwing jig/craw or shakey after about 10? I honestly really appreciate any help anyone can give, and will try and update the thread daily with anything that i find out about the area while i am down there. I think hollow has internet in their cabins. -
I'll be making my once a year trip down to the Rock the weekend of the 28th. My father and i do this every year (check my posts from last year) and only get out 1 time a year. Staying at Hickory Hollow in the shell knob/viola area and fishing for LM. I have seen in a few different threads mentions about "the tournament" going on that weekend. We are going to be renting plain old john boats and putting our own motors on there.........are we going to be getting swamped out of everything even being as far away from the main part of the lake as we are? Secondly, my resources are limited at best, what would be the top 4 things you would invest in that would give me the best chance to catch fish that weekend? And the obligatory, how would you fish them? I know we are still 2 weeks away, but i have also seen posts explaining that "tips" are going to be few and far between for that week because of "the tournament" ANy help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We always have fun and were down there even when we happened to come down during the 100 year flood that you guys had 3 years ago. Thanks in advance for hany help anyone can give me. Brian
-
what are the odds that many of them are going to be down in the shell knob viola area?
-
thanks for the suggestion i had a redfin last year, (same time) but i have fished the rapala for so long it is hard to break away from that since it was producing fish
-
you mention throwing a redfin at beds.......do you just twitch it above the beds? slow return? Walk it? you also mention 10-15 fow range, still using redfin? or switching to a tube or a jig and craw? going to be down the kings area on the weekend of the 28th, so i will be hitting the same time.
