  1. Ran across this company's site and wondered if anyone on here had done business with them. Sure looks like something old men like myself could use. http://ezeestep.com/ezeewp/
  2. Think you have the crappie figured out. Nice catch.
  3. lmt, That is a very fat fish! jim m, We have discussed length limits in the past and I too would like to see it raised to 18". Went to Bull Shoals recently and we caught a lot of 20 to 24" fish that were very fat. We did catch a lot of shorts but when most of them are 17+ they are a lot more fun.
  4. That is a nice boat. Hope you and your son enjoy it. Ditto to what has been said above and also Stockton has a considerable amount of water with standing timber and depending on water level some of the trees can be just below the surface so until you know the areas very well only go thru them at an idle. I fish on Stockton a lot and know these areas and I still go thru them at an idle. There are a lot of ramps and many of them get little use so get a copy of the lake map (or the internet) from the Corp of Eng office to give you their locations.
  5. A friend and I fished 5 hrs Wed morning and had plenty of wind to help us. We bb on points and in muddy water off wind blown points. Ended up finding that the eyes were very shallow (8 to 10'). Had some bonus fish - 14.5" smallie and some shorter ones and 16 very large bluegill. Also had 6 keeper walleyes.
  6. Pretty sure that was you I waved at on Tues Lmt Out. We fished 3 days this week and found very little pattern on walleyes. They bit in depths from 10 to 40' and seemed widely scattered. By Thurs. we found a few on a couple of points. Pulled cranks on lead for crappie and caught most of them between 20 and 30' in most any depth of water as long as it was in a cove.

    walleye

I have fished Norfork and Bull Shoals quite often and although they have an 18" length limit, I have always caught about the same percentage of keepers as I have fishing Stockton and I fish Stockton on a regular basis. My brother fished Stockton for many years when it had an 18" length limit and he has told me that he had always caught about the same percentage of keepers as we do now BUT they were a lot bigger. We are not biologists, just fishermen but it just seems reasonable that if you leave them in the lake longer you will have bigger fish. Yes Powerdive, John Estes is one fine fisherman and I have learned an awful lot about walleye fishing from both of you.
  8. There is also a Red eye bass and we are on the north edge of its range but I have caught what I thought were some in the Pome river and in Stockton. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redeye_bass I am no bass expert but they did have red eyes and looked like the pictures. Anyone else caught bass with bright red eyes?
  9. They finished 22 out of 48 boats which is not a bad finish for Green Bay. I have fished Green Bay and there is plenty of fish but catching those with any size is really tough and the weather can be horrible.
  10. That was a pretty good day. Glad you both got out and enjoyed the fall weather.
  11. http://masterswalleyecircuit.com/mwc-live/ Two of our Stockton walleye fishermen qualified for and are fishing this tournament starting today and going through Saturday. This tournament is the pinnacle of professional walleye fishing. The team is Stanton and Brown and they had a good day today and here is hoping that the next two are even better. You can follow the tournament on the link above.
  12. WP, I have fished Truman a number of times and if it works on Stockton it will work on Truman. It has some very fine walleye fishing and it doesn't seem to get the pressure that Stockton does. I was out yesterday in the heat of the day and had one keeper and one short but pulled cranks on lead and came up with some crappie and bluegill so I did not go hungry. Did not see any thermocline. They are still running water but only in the late afternoon which is probably a good time to go.
  13. Was out today. Did not see much of a thermocline. Caught a couple of eyes, lots of channel cats, bass, but the best catch of the day was a 10.5" bluegill. It had a fillet not much smaller than a 16" eye that we cleaned.
  14. If time is a big factor, the odds are best if you pull crankbaits and pull them so they run about 18: Stay in 20 plus feet of water.
  15. It was nice to visit with Lmt Out and and his wife yesterday. We were going by at the time he hooked and landed that huge fish. It was a dandy!
  16. http://huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations I believe any enforcement agent will count any fish they find in your freezer or elsewhere as part of your possession limit. I wonder if anyone has ever completely followed the label regulations?
  17. I just happened to have those days off. Might have to test your theory.
  18. Also fished most of the day on friday with part of the time around the dam area and ended up with one crappie. All I saw were boats constantly moving from one spot to another so not likely many were catching fish.
  19. As of Monday the water temp at Mutton was 41 and risibility was about 18". Water temp had risen over 3 deg. in one week.
  20. My experience has been that in the fall there is usually a major hatch of shad and they grow quickly and spread through out the water system so most species follow them and consequently can be found at all depths up to 35' or so until the water temp gets down to below 40 deg. At that point the shad begin to form large balls in order to stay warm and the predators follow the shad balls at which point jigs, spoons, and trolling very deep crank baits usually work best. Tipping jigs with minnows helps also.
  21. We as tax payers are footing the bill for the Dept of Ag to subsidize the type of farming that has destroyed the quail and we foot the bill for the MDC and KDC and other state wildlife agencies that try to increase the quail population. The only thing being accomplished is the fleecing of the tax payer and we put these politicians in office and pay them until they die so they can do this to us. Doesn't say much for the intelligence of the majority of the voters of this country. I believe that quail populations as we used to know them are not going to happen again.

    Bowhunter

Antlers to be proud of! Good job.
  23. Bluegill are hard to beat MOP. Most of mine come as a by product of walleye fishing. Anyone have a good method of catching the large ones? Anyone fish for them in the winter?
  24. Those are very fine fish CH! Couple of fine young men there also. Did the eyes come on crank baits like the bass? How did you catch yours Kramr? Bouncers, cranks, jigs ?
  25. Fished for awhile this afternoon. Actually had jacket and rain gear on part of the time. Like August when it is in the 60's, rainy, and windy. Had 7 walleyes with 2 16" keepers. About 16 to 20' on slow death and crawlers off bouncers. The little catfish are still active also.
