  1. Didn't realize I was in the Bass Fishing forum when I posted this topic. Might have been better suited if I'd put it in the other topic forum pertaining to rods/reels/lines/leaders/waders in the Fly Fishing forum. My apologies for inadvertently posting to the wrong topic area.
  2. Thanks for the replies,.. keep 'em coming! I'm considering giving one of his Alpha Series 5/6 a try, hard to go wrong with the price so long as they're reliable & trouble free.
  3. Curious to hear from those who have received and tried the reels that Justin @ Allen's Fly Fishing is offering and what your experiences are, likes, dislikes, design layout, reliability? They're great looking reels! Tnx
  4. Good Lord,.... Guy's, great work on cleaning up the trash, it's beyond me why some people like to go out & enjoy nature only to wreck the area by tossing out trash here there & everywhere. That's a lot of trash good job done by all.
  5. Whoa,... that's a nice size for Capps from what I've seen, nice job! And where is Hickory???
  6. Wow, P.L. I didn't know you had this generous offer going on. Might have to take you up on this. Thanks for bumping this topic!
  7. Great video, thanks for sharing!
  8. I too have PLine 2Lb. I was reluctant to use is as I believe it equates to be 8X,... anyone know if this is true? The Rio 7X I have is 2.5 Lb. As far as the Vanish is concerned,... maybe the manufacturer should have considered a different name other than "Vanish", too bad it's getting hard to find!
  9. Triple Surgeon's Knot from leader to tippet & Uni-knot to fly. The only roll of this stuff I have & used is 7X,... maybe it's just too small.
  10. Wow, lots of great artists yall' listen to, a lot of which I like, 'cept for country, don't listen to too much of that if I have a choice, it's just never been my thing. I'll have to jump on the Neil Young wagon, maybe some Dave Matthew's, Marshall Tucker, The Allman Bros & never,...never forget the talent & unique sound from our own good old Ozark Mountain Daredevils. One of my all time fav's is Watermill: & Spaceship Orion: OK, make that two.
  11. Phil, thanks for the reply! I realize my question was somewhat vague, but mostly I was trying to figure out the amount (or volume rather) of water & level between no units running or 1 unit, ergo no generation to 1 unit would be wadable,... 2 units running "man down" forget about trying to wade fish. Heck for all I know each unit could vary in it's degree of discharge. I'm not sure how the whole power generation rate is determined, I guess time will tell, & from the help of those here on the forum.
  12. I'm tying to remember if it was 0 units while wading or 1 unit while I waded, it's been awhile since I've gone, but the water was about mid butt for being 5'11" I'm thinking it's one unit at that height,..... can someone confirm this. Thanks!
  13. Not seeing any recent fishing reports, I've been wondering what the morning / evening fishing is turning out to be like?
  14. Knots always to be moistened, (spit). So I understand Rio's higher cost might be attributed to better packaging. Since flouro is very susceptible to heat, what's that say about pulling tippet through your fingers creating friction to relax kinked & coiled line? Probably not the greatest thing do, eh?
  15. Thanks for the input! I guess to some extent "to each his own" may apply to a degree. I too have used Rio Flouro, lately I've read where Rio is easily susceptible to knot breakage, line tangles, wind knots, kinks, and coils,is very susceptible to abrasion and nicks, thus reducing it's reliability & effectiveness, all of which I've experienced, and it's overall rating seems to be very substandard. I have a roll that I'll probably donate to the landfill soon, as this has been a problem for me. I'm switching out to something different. Glad for those who have luck with it and I'm not out to speak badly of it, I'm just offering my past experience and with what I've read, and looking for something different to try.
  16. I'm sure that more than likely this question has been beat to death, my apologies for posting an "old as dirt" question. Glad that's out of the way,... My question is, what is generally preferred for tippet at Taney's Tailwaters? Brand & preference mainly Has anyone ever heard of Stroft GTM & if so, please share your experience, likes & dislikes. Thanks!
  17. Sounds pretty good Gatorjet. Whatever you happen to find in your yard that'll fit in the pot just throw it in and you could just call it Jambalyarda.
  18. Great report JDC, thanks for sharing.
  19. Great looking Bow, nice scenery pics too! Thanks for sharing.
  20. Is this during late afternoon/early evening?
  21. Thanks TB!
  22. I was there yesterday trying to figure out just where to go, I referenced a map I had and 1st went to the MDC area on the left just past the bridge outside of town to the south, looked like it was worth trying, but I didn't (I purposely left my waders @ home), after that I tried to locate another MDC area just down that same road maybe 150 yds, that was listed on my GPS but was apparently in a field across the road from a house (with small dogs)& access didn't look too great. So I thought I'd give the city park a look, first upstream, about the only fish I saw were about 10" ers & under, pretty much where main street run into the park, then I continued downstream which didn't look too promising for not having waders. My overall opinion at the time was it's worth another try but maybe after we get a little rain as the water level seemed a bit low except for the pools here & there. If anyone has any input as far as just where to go on this cool little creek, I'd greatly appreciate any tips & advise before I venture down there again and just try to "wing it" Thanks!
  23. So,... when you're saying "trestle" are you referring to the vicinity of the Railroad Bridge Hole on the edge of town as noted on the map? Thanks!
