  1. I'm a little late to this thread, but I had to post in it. I only fish in the fall for Whites. I'm usually golfing every weekend, but I take a month off to go to Stockton. Been doing this for over 15 years (not as long as some of you) but this is my two cents. Wind is the key. If there's no wind, I go home empty handed. I have my best luck with wind out of the north or west blowing toward the bank. I used to think overcast days were the best, but when I was out a couple of weeks ago, I did much better in the sun than the shade. My best years are when the lake is low, like now. For years I only used chartreuse and orange rooster tails. Now, I use pearl sliders and dark purple swimming minnows. Hope this helps some of you. Good luck! I almost forgot to add that water temp is really important. I won't catch anything unless it's below 65.
  2. It wasn't a fish story dad...it must have been that rotten line you gave me ; )
  3. Boomer Sooner!
  4. I think a few of us on here should pitch in and buy a Thompson Fishing guide gift certificate for you for an early Christmas present. Just kidding. I mainly go to Stockton this time of year because, to me, there is nothing better on earth that getting into a school of White Bass when there are eating EVERYTHING! I have my usual spots I go to and the last few years I've struck out a lot more than I've caught em'. You just have to stay out there and try different things. You'll get into them eventually. Good luck.
  5. Take 123 to VV. When the road turns right, go left on a little farm road, follow the road down to an old 1800's looking school house, make a right, then your next left, and go to the boat ramp. There's a beaten down path off of the parking lot. Follow it down all the way to the point. You can also go left at the school and try down there. I've never had much luck there though.
  6. I started at Bona on Friday and got absolutely nothing. Ended up getting a few whites at Highpoint. They were hitting on every cast till the wind quit blowing. Every fish me and my friend caught were inside five feet from the shore. Set the hook on one and literally pulled it up on shore in one second. It almost took the fun out of it. Going back out in the morning.
  7. Capt, where were you catching them? I'm heading back to Bona...again this weekend. I've tried the highpoint area when the winds are out of the south and never had luck. I'm needing some new places to try out from the banks when my two spots are fishless. Thanks
  8. Went to Bona and Highpoint and didn't catch anything other than a diseased white bass and a few smaller ones. Anyone ever seen a white with a bunch of bulging white spots on it? It looked like white fish eggs stuck to the sides of it. By the way, anyone know a good spot to catch whites from the shore and what are you using? I usually use rooster tails, roadrunners, and crappie jigs.
  9. I'm heading to the bona bridge today for some whites. I'll give you an update when I get back.
  10. I got my info wrong it looks like. We're suppose to put in at Bay Creek instead of Buck Hollow. I keep getting conflicting reports from two rivers canoe and akers ferry. two rivers says it's unfloatable and akers ferry says it's fine, running at 2.2 ft.
  11. I'd like to know also. I'm wanting to put in at buck hollow and get out at Eminence. I saw the water level above alley was at 1.27. Is it still doable with a canoe and gear to last for a day and a half? I'm wanting to avoid the crowds and catch some fish, but I don't want to drag all the way up to Alley. Also, are there any other places to put in about 6-8 miles above Alley Spring?
