  1. Definitely worth it. Good-to-great fishing. There might be a tree or two across the creek. Usually is at least one when I go. In a kayak it should be cool. if you fish hard it's an all-day float 6,7,8 hours.
  2. yeah I'm 6'6" 300 lb. I'm 26 and can still move/bend around pretty good. I was thinking of getting a solo canoe, but after seeing those videos I am consdering a SOT kayak.
  3. How much do the Coosa's cost?
  4. Awesome. Gotta love exploring the Ozarks rivers. I wish I had time to get out more often. Maybe one of these days me and my daughter can do the same thing (she's only 1).
  5. Yes and no, that is where I fished, but it was on Friday, I took a half day off work... That's one of my go-to wade spots, and I usually do great there(now the secret is out) but this time I was amazed at the lack of fish. I don't what the deal was. What did you think of the creek?
  6. smoke with black & silver glitter.. BSP should have it. They usually have around 10-15 different colors.
  7. I did a little wading yesterday on the upper upper Finley (near Fordland) and I didn't even see a bass, just shiners and nibblers. I know this is crazy, maybe bordering on stupid, but the utter lack of fish in a stretch that usually produces has me wondering: Is it possible a lot of the bass population has been washed down stream? It did receive some major flooding.
  8. Awesome! (I minored in Geology at Missouri State).
  9. Looks awesome. I need to get back down there, but it seems like all my fishing buddies' wives are having babies. ??????? Its crazy.
  10. From the Little Sugar. Biggest GS I've ever seen. I'm 6'7 so you have to take into account my hand is pretty big.
  11. The water is deep around those access points. You'll probably be walking through the brush along the banks, or swimming while holding one arm up out of the water to keep your fishing pole and lures dry. But hell, that ain't nothing I haven't done before... It just depends on how bad you want to catch Creek fish.
  12. I'd recommend Hog Heaven in Pineville. Get ahold of Russ and I think he'd be able to take care of it.
  13. I think the fishing is good all the way from Linden to the Park, so wherever you want to paddle at, you'll be catching some fish. Don't worry about asking all these questions, that's what this fishing forum is for anyhow.
  14. Floated today down to John's Ford. Fish weren't biting, but the pace was great, and the color of the water is awesome right now on the Upper Finley.
  15. Yeah, they shut the gates to the park.
  16. No problem. Good luck fishing.
  17. Here's a google maps of Ozark and the Finley River. Starting from the Business 65 bridge (Yellow), going upstream: Park Bridge, Riverside Bridge (closed), and Green Bridge. Best way is go out McCracken Rd, turn left on Hawkins Rd. (There's a Jehovah's Witness church there), go about a mile take your first right and you're there. It's a little tough getting a kayak down from the road to the water, but it's not too bad, I've seen worse. Greenbridge is roughly halfway between Linden and the Ozark Park. map of ozark mo - Google Maps.pdf
  18. You might consider putting in at Green Bridge, you can go upstream or down from there. Park on the north side of the bridge though (far side when coming from Ozark).
  19. I thought I'd put this out there, just in case somebody is interested. I grew up around Bradleyville, and I know these kids need all the help they can get. You could even go a little early and fish Beaver Creek a little bit--or stay afterward and check out Leon Combs' Elk ranch & herds. Bradleyville scholarship walk/run to be held Saturday The 16th Annual Bradleyville Scholarship Walk/Run will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Bradleyville. Walkers, joggers and runners will gather on Brownbranch Hill, above the canoe rental, by 8:30 a.m. to register. Registration is $5 for students K-12, or $10 in pledges. Adult fee is $12. Participants will be eligible for about $3,000 in total cash prizes. Male and female winners will each receive a $500 prize, with second place receiving $250 and third place, $125. The over-40 age group will win $250 for first, $125 for second and $65.00 for third. Ned Reynolds will emcee the event. The Lennon Brothers and Gail will start things off by singing the National Anthem. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund, which provides $1,000 for each year a Bradleyville graduate remains in college or an accredited trade school. Free soft drinks, bottled water and hotdogs will be served, and Dot and Leon Combs invite everyone to their house on Bugle Mountain to enjoy desserts, coffee, soft drinks and lots of casual visiting afterward.
  20. What a victory. This shouldn't be a time to celebrate politicos, the celebration should be for armed forces. I've heard a lot of criticism directed towards Barry Obama saying he's taking too much ownership of this operation. Oh well, In my opinion I'm glad it got done no matter who's President. Obama, Bush, that wacky chick from Alaska... It sends the message: You attack us, and take credit for it, you will die. The extremists have to know that nobody could hide better than "Osama Bin-Hidin'". So they know they know they have no chance of living after attacking the US. The two-bit suicide bombers might not care about this, but the 'bigwig' mastermind terrorists aren't the suicide type. I think finding and killing Bin Laden will go a long way in deterring future large-scale attacks. Congrats the guys and ladies that were involved in this operation, and a big thanks to the troops that have fought in Afghanistan/Pakistan over the last 9 or so years.
  21. You should salvage some of that tree and make something out of it--a table, or a shelf, etc... You can keep it as a family heirloom.
  22. Glad to hear you got though it relatively unscathed, and I hope everything goes well in the cleanup. I'm going to have to get down there for a trip. I'm getting ready to move to your area, starting next week I'll be the new regional planner at SCOCOG (South Central Ozarks Council of Governments) in Pomona. Oh and if you ever have any more "old crappy canoes" you don't really want any more, let me know, And I'll drive over and take one off your hands.
  23. That's good to hear. I've never caught one, but see them all the time when creek fishing. Where I come from people would grab them with a sucker hook, then put sticks in their mouth to lodge it open then either just throw them up on the bank or back into the water where they'd drown. I was a little kid when I witnessed this, now I see it's just stupid and wrong. But my view on gar has been shaped in that kind of environment where they're hated. It's good to see that they are considered sport fish in different parts of the state.
