  1. If you will raise the motor all the way up after it has drained and then go all the way down again, you might be surprised at the extra water that will come out of most motors. I always raise and lower 2-3 times when it is cold weather. I don't bother with stabil in my gasoline. I just keep adding fresh gas as I fish during the winter. You don't have to keep the tank full in the winter because condensation is a very minor amount of moisture if it happens at all.

    Walleye

If you are planning on trying that type of fishing I suggest you read a little about it. Here are some links for you. http://bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot_fish.html http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/guides/dropshot.html http://www.bigfishtackle.com/articles/fish...eshwater44.html http://www.richz.com/fishing/articles/dropshot.html

    Walleye

Yesterday we caught some keeper walleye along bluffy banks on plastics. They were 10-15' deep. Color or type of plastic didn't seem to matter as long as it was a dark color, but it was cloudy, windy, and cold.
  5. I thought it very strange for you to think it was worn out. I have some Symmetrys with 7 years use at about 100 days per year and they are like new in the way they work. I have only had to replace 2 roller clutches and 1 bail spring in all this time.
  6. That binding does occur when you get the rollers in the anti reverse clutch wet. They need to be fairly dry to do their job. You can remove the spool and blow the water out of the clutch and be back in business in less than a minute.
  7. You friendly guy must have been Jerry Snider. He owns the bait shop and guides. I am running the 520 and like it a lot. If you want to talk to a really knowledgeable guy about electronics, call Marine Repair Center in Spfld. and talk to George he sells all makes. 1-417-833-9191
  8. Starting to get freezing rain at 8:45 am.
  9. I would like to know what you wore out on the Sahara. I have a bunch of Shimanos and haven't worn much out over the last 10 years.
  10. So far only low visability due to thick fog.
  11. I skin trout and lightly baste with cold pressed olive oil, sprinkle with lemon pepper and smoke on a medium hickory heat for 2 hours. Take them off and eat them hot or cold. They are good that way but only half as good as walleye.
  12. Glad you got on to some. Andrew said he was in a Bass Cat so the Skeeter prolly wasn't him. I haven't been out lately too many other irons in the fire and a bit too much wind.
  13. I have an emulator downloaded and a lake file downloaded. I can't figure out how to view the lake file on the emulator. Any suggestions?
  14. I gave Fireline a try a few years ago. I hated it, cut it off and threw it away. I now use Power Pro in 8/1 and what ever diameter the 30 is. I have had the 8/1 on for years and haven't even turned it around yet. I have braid on at least 10 reels. I use the florescent yellow line. I do use a leader in some situations. The best knot I have ever used for braid is the San Diego jam.
  15. I have no problem with waypoints, icons, and trails which I mark on the unit I am using at the time, save them to an SD card and transfer them to the other head. I have started to record my day's fishing trip on the console unit. Playing it back on the 'puter I have seen several things which I missed during the day. I have isolated some items and gotten the coordinates for waypoints. I have also played the same recording on the unit head and marked waypoints as good stuff has scrolled by. When I compare the waypoints using the two methods they are quite different for example, one of them gave a W9345.545 with the 'puter while marked on the unit in the garage it was W9348.460. That is quite a difference. Which way do you think is the most accurate? Also have you used any programs to convert one mfg waypoints to another. I have downloaded GPSBabel and can't get it to run.
  16. Which of you guys are recording your trips on an SD card? I would like some waypoint pointers please.
  17. This time of the year you can find them anywhere from the CC bridge to the dam on the Big Sac arm and the same goes for the Little Sac. Andrew they aren't tied up and can be anywhere they want. Sometimes they are in coves. Sometimes they are on points. Sometimes they are on straight banks. The last time I fished there they were in the bushes and we had to cast into them and pick the fish out. If you find them that way you had better have a good supply of jigs or what ever bait you are using. Bait color has made no difference at all.
  18. The windiest spots you can find in about 1' of water.
  19. Neither of those baits. We were using slab hunters and jigs.
  20. With water temps in the low to mid 50s the bite is still on. Yesterday 3 boats of us fished for white bass and wound up with just under 200. One boat only caught 2 limits but could only fish for 3 hours.

    Gps

I have some gps units and he is exactly right. If you want it to mean anything to you LIVE WITH it. I only go to bed without a gps around. And I still am only fair with one.
  22. Same kind of results I had. I headed back north to bass fish.
