I was about 2.miles up the James beyond the confluence of the James and Flat. There was no wind. I had only been drinking water. I was fishing with the boat pointing up stream. The debris was moving up the stream also. It was going faster than my boat. How could this happen? I thought that water ran down hill.
Kyle and I hit the water at. 6. We went up there was lots of fog and floaters. We had 4 fish in the first hour. 3 of them were nice.
It got slow after that. The bite quit at 10. We fished until 12 then called it quits. Had a total of 17 bass.
We caught fish on spinnerbait buzzbaits frogs shaky and Ned but never could get a pattern.
Tuesday Eagle Rock was trashy and Big M was fine. However Cassville is flooding .
If there was lots of rain farther south there is no telling what you may find.
We did some driving and looking yesterday afternoon. Eagle Rock was off color with debris. Big M had good color but the lower parking lot is covered. If you launch by yourself plan to get your feet wet.
Kings at the 86 bridge is chocolate milk. Shell Knob looks ok. Flat Creek at the bridge is muddy. Did not drive to Cape Fair dock as the road is freshly oiled.
I do have someone else who is interested and lives close by. I really don't want the hassle of packing up and shipping. That is why I said local pick up.
Last week Kyle and I caught 40 bass up in the James. We decided to try it out again this am. It was slower. We only managed 24 this morning. We have had trouble finding keepers.
Thanks for the screen shot. Like lip stated I wasn’t looking for them to be that shallow. I did see millions of shad shallower than 10’. They were so thick they would change the reading on my depth finder.
Went down this morning cruised around points and bluffs out to 90 feet from Carney to Piney. Never saw more than 1 fish here and there. I guess I was looking in the wrong places or don’t know what to look for.
Thanks. We always called it JL’s Hollow or Carney Branch. I‘ve never heard it called cool water cove. I’d be honored to be shown some tips on this technique,
I have put new electronics on my rig hoping that I can find this bite that I have heard so much about over the years.
I have set a goal for myself to learn to fish for the suspended KYs this summer. When does this generally start and how far down the James would I need to go to start my search?
Does anyone have some screen shots of what I need to look for?
We went up. Caught fish on spinner bait, buzz bait and plastics. Wound up catching over 40 but only 4 keepers. The fish were healthy and fat. We could not get any deep fish at all. They were from 2 to 8 feet deep.
