A couple of weeks ago they were hitting cranks in shallow water in the backs of coves.

Shad, craw, blue/chart Bandit 300 was the best. Wiggle wart lost the fish.

gunner I went today. Tried spinnerbaits and buzzbaits early...nothing doing. Went to cranks and had 6 opportunities before finally hooking up and keeping fish on. Caught 9 on cranks with 2 keepers. The bite quit at 10. I switched to jigs and plastics. I caught 4 more and missed some. By 1:30 it was hot and the wind was dying down so I headed for the AC. I fished from State Park to just this side of Googer Creek.

There is a good ramp at Stockton. There are several MDC marked brush piles in the area.

When I get a consistant shallow bite I'll pull it out again. I keep one tied on all the time just in case I get the urge.

Though they are not my favorite baits, I have been using them for a few weeks and they have been working for me.

Try the Pitzen knot. You can tie it in the dark or with a pair of gloves on in the winter. It works for mono, braid, and fluro.

Depending on the location of the ramp, I sometimes carry a pistol when by myself at night. -
Cedar Ridge and High Point are the ones that would give a problem. The lower end should be ok.

The winter of 2006 it got 12' low. That was a tremendous crappie winter.

I don't think you will see many changes as the MDC doesn't think fishermen are smart enough to distinguish different types of fish for example look at the white bass, stripe bass, hybrid rules.

Bat I have been wondering the same thing.

I was out this week and caught only 5. They were on spinnerbaits and crankbaits in 2 fow. Probably made 1000 casts for those 5 fish.

You will always have weed seeds in the ground. Keep them under control by growing lots of good quality grass which keeps the weed seeds shaded so they won't germinate. If you want to do a real good job then take soil samples and have a test done. That way you will know whether or not to use fertilizer and if so how much. As for seed you will have to choose whether you want a warm season grass or a cool season one. Personally I use a cool season grass which comes on early in the spring, goes dormant in the hot summer and rejuvenates in the fall (tall fescue).

Springfield Lake Motor Limit?

We used to be allowed to use any boat with what ever size engine as long as the gas engine was trimmed up and not run but some just wouldn't follow the rules so things changed. Now the hp limit is enforced by the Spfld. police department and they may have more important things to do most of the time. That is not to say that they won't be around and give tickets to violaters time to time and that is enough to keep my boat off. -
