  1. I think if you look at the manufacturing process of a hook, you might be in for a surprise. I'll let the metalurgists here tell you more details. but it's a lot more complicated than you think. Simply bending wire and sharpening it is not the only thing... There is plating, heat treating, and other processes that hooks go through before they are ready to fish... But that is an interesting idea...
  2. He was a news anchor on KY3... (Check the spelling... LOL)
  3. New podcast is up on the site... you may or may not recognize this month's interviewee...
  4. I've started a new website called "Ozark Memories" which is going to be a collection of podcasts about interesting people and stories of the Ozarks. Check it out by clicking here... and clicking on "Ozark Memories" at the top of the page... I want this to be podcasts and not writings. Maybe that will be another site... If you have an interesting Ozark memory or know someone who would be an interesting interview for a podcast, let me know by emailing me at terry@terrybeeson.net
  5. I think I see Jubilation T Cornpone in the background... Why didn't you get a pic of Daisy Mae?
  6. Happy Birthday! Spend it with something tuggin' on your line!!!
  7. Dang, Jeremy... showing Michael all those big browns causes me to have to work all day Monday in the fly shop instead of fishing... Nice pheesh!!!
  8. Thanks, ya'll... You can now order a copy online at www.terrybeeson.net Maybe I'll have a book signing day at BCO soon... Since I'm working here today, I guess I could do it today, huh?
  9. Exactly... Zach Matthews (who is in the video) was fishing with John Wilson who showed him the Davy Knot. That's why he gives John kudos... By the way... Davy will tell you that the knot is not that easy to tie correctly and he is right. But once you get the hang of it and do it correctly every time, it is a 100% knot. I've used it for a few years now and never had one come apart on me... well... one that I tied correctly. When at a fly fishing or tying event and "the man" is there (Davy Wotton) have him show you the CORRECT way to tie it. Matt's video is done correctly, by the way... Don't ask me to describe the correct way... you just have to see it...
  10. If you have not yet found this website, it's worth a listen... well... except for having to listen to Michael Kyle for an hour on night fishing Taney... Good stuff, Michael... I think you can hear me when I went to the restroom in the middle of your interview... www.liv2flyfish.com
  11. Very nice work!!! I love the brown trout handle... I have a proposal for you as well, but I'm sure Phil's is closer to fruition than mine. Dang... I wish I had known this a few weeks ago...
  12. By the way... I was a bit speechless the other night and wish I could go back and thank my lovely wife, Cindy, for putting up with me so I could do the things I have done for the Southern Council. She has been behind me and allowed me to do a lot of things and I feel sometimes I've neglected her more than I should to get things done. She deserves a bigger chunk of this award than I... So if you see her, give her that deserved portion...
  13. I have another one in the works, Ronnie... Hope to have it ready by Sowbug... Thanks for the kudos.
  14. Yes, Don... you and all the other "little people" must now kneel in my presence... It's so hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way... You know, Laker... I think you're right... However, I'll let you explain that one to my wife... Thanks for the kudos... I was shocked, humbled, and honored to accept the award. I looked over the list of past winners and have some big shoes to fill for sure. JB... Let me know your thoughts on the book. I got good feedback from Bob Clouser on it, so my chest is puffed out even bigger!!!
  15. Click here - you never know what's going to land in your net...
  16. You are so right, Zack... Phil went above and beyond for sure. And on his birthday as well...
  17. A coon whistle is suppose to be good luck. I'm betting a bear whistle would be very good luck as well. I knew a man several years ago who owned a walking cane make out of three bull whistles...
  18. Two recent incidents should be interjected here: 1. The fellow in Springfield who ran after and chased down a purse snatcher shooting his concealed weapon, apparently in traffic. I say he was in the wrong for doing that but commend his intentions. He will certainly face charges for firing the weapon when and where he did. One fact was that he had no reason to fear that his life was in danger... He was chasing them. 2. Recently near my hometown in Arkansas a fellow walked out to his truck to go to work. Two men attacked him and began beating him (by the way, this fellow turned out to be a martial arts instructor in his 50s.) His son was in the house and heard his dad calling for help. He approached the kitchen window with a 9mm. One of the guys saw him and started toward the door. I'm not sure if this guy was armed or not. The son fired one round through the window, killing the perp. The other one fled, leaving dad roughed up a little, but he was able to interview with police and the news media... As for a shotgun, there are many models out there on the marked SPECIFICALLY designed for home defense. I don't see how they could sell them if they were illegal. The key to "self defense" in any case is the idea of immenent danger and fear for your life. And if someone is coming toward my door with a gun blasting, I ain't waitin' for him to come in...
  19. PLUS, Brian, this is at his place in Oklahoma... That makes it even more better-er... LOL.... A day fishing with the man is worth a ton. The things you pick up by mere osmosis being with him is unreal...
  20. So the close up shot of those GPS coordinates I saw on the video were on there by accident? Just givin' both of you a hard time.... Phil... are you Bill's Santy Clause?
  21. Scout had the idea... gnaw on a turkey foot while the humans do all the work... LOL Nice video... nice pheesh...
  22. (organ music in the background...) Tune in tomorrow for "Days of our Guiding Young and Restless Anglers..." Yeah, but I can call Flysmallie one...
  23. Click here to view how you could spend a day fishing with Dave Whitlock at his place....
  24. Did he get to take his bullet out of his shirt pocket? Just kidding... I'm glad they caught the guy, but the question is, will he do any time or will he get a slap on the wrist? Now... before anyone gets upset with the Barney Fife joke at the top... I had a friend who was a cop in a town of about 500 people who recently was killed when he pulled over a stolen vehicle and walked up to confront the driver. Took a bullet before he could even react... I admire and respect all the "Barneys" out there for sure.... God bless you all for your service.
