  1. I really llked the Bud commercial about the ancestry of one of the Clydesdales and "The Boss" ruled the halftime show... Other than that, good game... Some bad calls, but overall I agree. The fans got their money's worth.
  2. Yeah, I'm sure there will be a lot of folks in the same boat, Dano... My LOML and I are making chili chees dip, seafood dip, and some turkey and cheese baked sandwiches (she makes them with butter on the top and bottom of a roll and they are fantastic!!) plus I'm frying tortilla chips to go with the dip. A few Coors Lights and we're set!!!
  3. Click here....
  4. Happy Birthday all ya'll...
  5. Hey... Tell Conehead I said "hey"....
  6. Great shots Jeremy... Truly a reminder of the Christmas Day 2000 ice storm in Texarkana. I'm tellin' ya... If you've never been through one of these storms, you ain't got a clue how devastating they really are. I can still hear trees popping, cracking, and falling... Sounded like a big bomb. Again... the melting will begin... but BE CAREFUL when it does. BIG chunks of ice will fall...
  7. I figured Duckydoty had snared you with a slump buster... OMG... "...screamed like a woman..." You sure it was the shaking or the smell inside the waders? Poor muskrat was sayin' "dumb fly fishermen anyways... Can't take a little beaver tail slap, heron squawk, or muskrat nudge..."
  8. Nice captures!! A silver lining to the cloud you're dealing with. Great detail on the bird shot. Care to share settings? Which lens? How much crop?
  9. Dang Phil... bummer for you and the others. OK... 1 cubic foot of ice weighs 57.5 lbs at 32 deg F... 30ft x 20ft x 1/4 ft (3 inches) x 57.5 = 8,625lbs Plug in your own numbers to get your results...

    Iced In

While you wussies are all home cuz you can't get to work... Just kiddin'... I'm at work. Made it in fine. But all the clinics are closed and not much going on computer wise in the hospitals, so kinda slow... But still able to get to the forums, do a little photo editing, and download some stuff. Then I get to go out at 9pm and de-ice the Dodge, and slide home...
  11. Thank you kind sir... Now if Tim will come over and put one of those big Mac bows on the end of my line, I'll be set!!!
  12. SF... No filter... Well, the UV filter, which I keep on the lenses all the time for protection from dust and dirt... Shutter speed was about 1/2 second if I remember right (have to look at the Raw file to see for sure...) Zach... This one does have a knob you can put on the end and a grip so you can use it as a walking stick. Pretty neat for $20. I'm gunning for a good tripod next, though. I've got a cheap $6 I got at Radio Shack on clearance, but want something more sturdy. Of course, I don't think I'll be getting any of the $1,500 ones.... LOL
  13. Geez, JoRob... EVERYbody knows it goes on the front end....
  14. Oklahoma? You can't get to Crane from there... Right in the center of the BR section is the bridge in the middle of town. On the north side of the bridge and the west side of the road is the City Park. You can park and fish there... You'll have to go down the street for any "facilities" though... they took out the porta-potties... There are a couple of Conservation areas that can be used to access the river, but hard to explain how to get there. Maybe Tim can enlighten us...
  15. I'll add this to the mix... When you are looking at a vise, I would say the best idea is to buy a good generic pedestal THEN buy the vise with a clamp. I have the clamp for my Renzetti that came with it, but I already had a good base to put it on. I really wish all vises came with a two part mast that would allow both pedestal and clamp mouning. Some do, some don't...
  16. Pump 3 1/2" #4s and #5s through it duck hunting - three shots at a time, ducks coming in every half hour for 6 hours... THAT'll put a knot on your shoulder... Did you pattern it at 40 yards? How was it? Turkey choke is a good idea on any gun you're going to go after gobblers with.
  17. OK... there are three options here... 1. Tie a loop in the end and loop connect the leader. OK, but not my first choice by far. 2. Install a loop connector (acts like a chinese handcuff and add super glue or similar to help hold it.) The Dave Whitlock type are great and the others I've used are pretty good. I have this on one line and never had a problem. It makes it a lot easier to change leaders using this method. My choice... 3. Nail knot. Without a welded loop, this connection is probably best if you can tie a good one. I tie my backing to line with a nail knot and have one line to leader with a nail knot. The only down side to this is changing leaders, which I do more often than many, so I've gone to loops on all my lines to leaders.
  18. I'm partial to RIO but have a couple of SA lines as well. I've cast the sharkskin and the feel and floating is great. I just don't know if I would ever get use to the noise... I think you'll be happy with Sharkskin or RIO Gold...
  19. I like Bennett except in the spring and summer when it looks like a bunch of people hearding the fish... I bet it's sweet fishing in the C&R season...
  20. Thanks ya'll.. PF... No, not quitting fishing. We didn't get there until after 4 or there would have been flies wet before the pictures. Ronnie... One word for ya... MONOPOD.... I picked one up at WM and really makes a difference. Phil... Images sent...
  21. Went eagle spotting yesterday and wound up at Roaring River (after 4pm, so no fishing.) We saw a few eagles and got pretty close to one. Images turned out blurry, but did get a good shot or two of the river itself. Thought I'd share...
  22. I have the Renzetti Traveler also and love it. But, honestly, I don't think you would be disappointed with any of the above mentioned. The Peak and Griffin I've tied on and really liked. The DynaKing has been one that I've heard a lot of guys say they won't give up. But I just really like the Renzetti. I think if you come to Sowbug in March and look at the different vises, you'll be even MORE confused...
  23. Looks like you did a lot better that I did... But you did fish longer. Great looking fish. As I said in my report, I WILL be back to Crane for sure!!!
  24. I didn't spend but an hour on Crane my first time. With the weather change and other obligations, I got there about 10 this morning. I fished the city park and ran into Brad who was fishing at the end of the road in the park. He moved upstream and I did spot several fish he told me were cruising there. Had a 10 stimulator over a 14 bead head nymph. Cast after cast went un-noticed. Moved downstream and spotted fish, cast to them, but not much going on. Finally spotted a 7 incher just waiting for a snack, high sticked the nymph into his zone, and he took. Missed him, but a couple passes later, I took him to hand only to have him slip out and back into the water... Oh well, no picture, but a good hour of fun. In the infamous words of the Governator - "I'll be bahck!" Nice meeting you Brad...
  25. Very nice shots! Thanks for sharing...
