  1. So, if that WAS minimum flow, how was it compared to wading water at 0 units? Looks like a good trip. I agree with Dano... That Brown pic with the SJW in its mouth is priceless!
  2. Dang... I thought those were "free bait..."
  3. Bill, Was that you up by the dam missing those big ones on the south shore? I heard several moans coming from that boat when bent fly rods would straighten out...
  4. Puts a whole other meaning to "Krispy Kremes"... Randy... you're just saying there will be donuts so Duane will show up...
  5. I swear I just heard Jerry Lee Lewis... He's out there somewhere every night The music's playin' loud He's doing all of those fifty's steps He's in a 2008 crowd Dim lights hide the milage line Clairol hides the gray And he won't mention anything To give his old age away Oh Lord, he's thirty-nine an he's holdin' Holdin' everything that he can From seventeen to twenty-five He'll prove he's still a man He's holding to a candle And it's burning at both ends Thirty-nine and holding Holdin' everything that he can Well, now you can bet he'll never see Thirty-nine, again Son, you oughta given up a long time ago But you just keep on hangin' in He still thinks that he's the man That he once used to be Boy, you're just thirty-nine And you're dreamin' Acting twenty-three Oh-oh, he's thirty-nine, he's holdin' Holdin' everything that he can From seventeen to twenty-five To prove he's still a man He's a-holding to a candle My God, it's burning at both ends! He's thirty-nine and he's holdin' Holdin' everything he can
  6. Trav, Why when you can fish?...
  7. Greer's Ferry? You mean Grinder's Ferry? Spring offers good fishing, but can be hard to dodge all the canoe traffic, especially on the upper portion. mid to late fall is good as Dano offered. I would try fishing below Gilbert as well as above.
  8. Well, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are pretty old, but I still say dinosuars are older... Oh... you said "stone"... not STONES.... I'll be "older than dirt" this year... Thanks for the early reminder...
  9. You mean there is other stuff in Branson beside Taneycomo? I wondered what all them purty lights were about when driving to and from the dam after dark...
  10. Welcome aboard!! I've eaten at Big Jake's a few times. Good steaks and the train is pretty kewl...
  11. 935 12 ga 3.5 auto? You are a glutton for punishment. My shoulder hurts from shooting a 20 ga. Mossberg. Of course I'm talking from a duck hunting or squirrel point of view. If you're looking for a turkey gun, OK. I bet you can find a good one at a good price in one that doesn't have the recoil they have. Good luck in your search. Just be sure to run a few rounds through it before buying.
  12. Belated birthday wishes to you both...
  13. The Spring is still one of my favorite streams to fish. I just don't get to fish it like I did when I lived in Mammoth Spring. It's just too rough commute to Springfield from there... Next time you have to move down to Bayou Access and try it out.
  14. Ham... Steve is OK... Along with John Berry and a few others in the area. But Gassville is a disaster for sure.
  15. Doug, I've used ground turkey instead of ground beef in a lot of recipes. As long as you are "spicing it up" a bit, the recipe comes out quite the same and sometimes even better. If you add some beef stock (use beef bullion cubes in water to make it) you will get the beef flavor you're after. However, the BEST alternative is to buy 8% ground beef and mix it half and half with turkey. Then you get some of the beef flavor in it for sure.
  16. A couple? You mean you're not going to tie a couple DOZEN for me?
  17. I take 160 to Branson West then 265? and going straight instead of turning to go over the dam. This time of year, taking the 76 exit to Fall Creek Rd is not a bad route. But Duane's route is a pretty good one, too... (Isn't that Shepard of the Hills?)
  18. Depends on what I'm fishing. Different types of fishing different times of flies. John has a good point about stealth, though... Then again, I just try to fish whichever way they are taking!! I'm pretty flexible that way.
  19. In the immortal words of Briscoe Darlin'.... "He one of ours?"
  20. Both sound really good... As for the dip... I really like making my own chips for the dip. Just buy the taco size corn tortilla shells - the "soft" ones, not the "hard" ones. Cut them into wedges by stacking them and cutting like a pie. I make six chips out of one shell. Deep fry them until crispy. Careful not to over cook or under cook. Drain and sprinkle salt on them. BEST chip and dip... 'coz the chips are hot and fresh!! As for dip, I've used Velveeta (1 lb) with a package of taco seasoning instead of Rotel. Pretty good dip that way. But if you really want to spice up your Super Bowl party, get Leonard to make you a batch of SEAHORSES!!!! MMMMMMMM
  21. Hey Michael... What materials should we bring? (OK... I COULD buy them at the shop...)
  22. Allowing guest posts does open the door for a lot of things... some positive, but mostly negative. I would require a membership with email to post a reply. Lurkers should be able to do just that... lurk. It's not like anything we say on here is all that secret or anything. I'm curious about anyone (other than the one person) who claims to have been denied membership to this forum (other than spammers.) I just don't see Phil or the other admins taking any action like that with a legitimate poster. Just think... I'm still on here... Phil, I vote to keep things like they are.
  23. I agree with Web... I've used hot dogs in the past, but just the cheap ones... Back home, we had the best hot dogs in the world and I couldn't bring myself to waste them on a fish... But they DO work! Try one... if you don't catch a fish, have a weenie roast!!
  24. I thought I was in the wrong forum... whew... Yep... dedicated server would be nice. One with LOTS of RAM and LOTS and LOTS of storage... and TOP END processing speed... In fact, just go ahead and purchase a supercomputer for us Phil...
  25. Dano, That was a quote from a radio commercial in Jonesboro for Mr T's Liquor Store in Cardwell, MO... "located on Highway 412, just across the Kahlua colored waters of the St. Francis River in Cardwell, Missouri..." Yep, I know the upper region is a really nice river, but downstream it is a muddy mess. And, yep, Dano, I've had a piece of catfish or two from there... as well as some duck... As for carp... it's been a few years, but I've had some carp that I must say tasted just like chicken... or goat... or armadillo... I can't decide...
