Some Flies I Have Tied
Terry Beeson replied to soggyfeet's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
That one looks like my great-aunt Mable after an all-nighter at the VFW... Seriously... Some good looking flies that will catch fish, I'm sure of it... I'm curious about the one in the last picture... Your inspiration for that fly and maybe the recipe? -
Yeah, I hate it when they hold a gun to my head and make me fish...
-
That would be my PowerBait fly... unless I decide the Green Giant Nibblet fly will work better... Honestly, tho, I would say it is the good ol' olive wooly bugger. Of course, I'm no opposed to pulling out a PS Sculpin or CrackleBack first as well.

Dang it, Don... Yor gonna make me cry... I yewsta have a dawg named Blue... Briscoe Darling: How 'bout "Don't Hit Your Grandma with a Great Big Stick"? Charlene Darling: No, Paw, That one makes me cry!

Bamboo Slightly Split Between Guides
Terry Beeson replied to TroutBum4wt's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
Duct tape? OK... seriously... I don't think I would chance super glue... There should be a couple of good grass rod makers on here, but there are a bunch on this forum http://www.rodbuildingforum.com/ who can help you with the right answer... -
Stretch Nylon Vs Waxed Thread
Terry Beeson replied to zander's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Is there an echo in here? I've used UNI, UNI-Stretch, and Flashabou... All three have their place in a Crackleback. My suggestion is to use all three, see which one you like best - well... which one the FISH like best. I think you'll find there are times when any will work, some times when one or the other only will work, and some times when NEITHER will work... In the immortal words of Eddie Murphy... "Boy, id bin a nong time since dem days. Hi, I'm Buh-weet, amembuh me? And I have compiled for you and your nistening pleasure, dum ub my mavorite tongs. Id's all ite here in dis uhn pectacular opper: "Buh-weet Sings". Take a wisten" "MUNCE... TICE... FEE TINES UH MAYDEE!!!" "Wookin' Pa Nub in all da wong paces. Wookin ' Pa Nub." (That's right... once Buckwheat sings a song, it's eternally his...) Order today. Send $49.95 for the full volume to: Buh-Weet Bah Firty Fee New Nork, New Nork "Take it fum "Ow Gang": yo gang will nub it. Buy my wecord! O-tay!" -

St. Francis River?
Terry Beeson replied to jackaroe22677's topic in Messages for, and from, the Admin
"The Kahlua colored waters of the St Francis River..." I know it's much nicer upstream... But I have seen some nice big cats come out of the lower part... and the duck hunting is great!!! -
I'm more familiar with its former contents... Nice find, though...

My ex-wife provided plenty of PMS for years... Hey Seth... Leonard does TOO exist... As does the Taneycomo Giant Man-eating Killer Squid!!!! By the way... If you come across a pile of poop and wonder if it is TGMEKS poop, there is a way to tell... If it is, it will have a Simms label in it...

Backcountry Outfitters Fly Tying
Terry Beeson replied to Micheal Kyle's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Michael, Does this mean you are back among the cyber-living? Also, can you show me how to tie a BCOS? -
Sad news for sure. Prayers for the family... And another reminder... Let's be careful out there!!

When you find out, write a book and you will become the richest author in the world!!!! #1 Best Seller for YEARS! Second only to the Bible!!! Phil has the best answer to your question, but I want to add something... If I may... I have had a couple of friends meet their maker due to generation changes and not being careful. I've also had a close call or two myself and you will hear countless tales of close calls and disasters from the novice up to guys who have fished the waters for a lifetime. Water levels/flows can change in a heartbeat. And without warning. Just because the water is wadable now does not mean it will be five minutes from now. And it's tough to see the chart from the middle of the stream. What I'm getting at is this... BE CAREFUL out there!!! And while you may think this is redundantly redundant and that you already know about this... I just have to say that you can NEVER say the above enough to those who fish tailwaters... especially those who are new to that type of angling. Well, and to those who are NOT so new. They (I) need to be reminded periodically of how dangerous it can be.

I dropped by the shop Thursday. Things are looking good! More room for more stuff. And Jess is still the door greeter... Best wishes on the new store and I'll do my best to be there for the grand opening!!! -
Who is this "Mr. Kyle" of whom you speak? I'll be in soon to check out the bargains... Hey Duane... If you see Michael tomorrow, tell him to check his email ASAP... I've got him some help for Conclave... GOOD help...

Dang... wish I'd-a knowed it sooner... I'd-a stopped by to say howdy... I was just downstairs on the 4th floor this afternoon!!! Congrats, Ducky!! If you happen to be there in the morning, I'll try to come by for a bit...

We made it OK here in south Nixa. Was skeery for a bit about 3am, but everything went around us. A-OK here... But praying that everyone else is doing OK and came through... Check in... Let us hear if you're OK...
-
Hey... I resemble that remark... Besides... Scheetz paid me good money to come up with that story for him!!! Hey... Look at it this way, Scheetz... Now those are REALLY breathable waders!!!

Had a great time, guys. Those who didn't show up missed some GREAT food! The donuts, the meatball sandwiches, the seahorses, the stuffed peppers, the chicken... ALL really good... And wish you had been there cuz there was LOTS left to eat. Yeah... I lost a pair of hemos down there as well... Next year I'm bringing a lot more corn nuggets... Dang... I'm STILL cold!!! Hey Michael... The ducks were flyin' all over me and Duane that mornin'...

My beef with Rib Crib and Ruby Tuesday is they left us high and dry. As I said, I don't expect perfection, but at least give it the ol' college try. I have no real beef with Buckingham's - at least they told us they were out before we actually ordered - and they do have the best BBQ around here for my money. I was just blind-sided with two restaurants not having ribs at the same time. I was already PO'd and just decided they didn't need me any angrier... I'll come to your house next NYE, Pat... As for NYE and the "dangers" I'm with you. We were planning an EARLY dinner and then home. My wife has been an ER nurse and has seen the results of those "nuckleheads" you talked about.
-
For NYE, Cindy and I decided to go out to eat since she has to work today (NYD.) In retrospect, we should have stayed home and had leftovers... Stop #1 - Rib Crib in Ozark - We've eaten here several times and it is my step-daughter's favorite. She loves ribs and votes these as the best. I think it's just because she can get "all you can eat" which is a LOT of ribs in her case. They were a bit busy, but 6pm on NYE, who isn't? We got a seat right off, but our server took his ever-lovin' time getting to us for a drink order. Finally got that, ordered the all you can eat ribs for three, and sat back in anticipation of a fine meal. Twenty minutes later, I hear the server at the next table informing the folks that THEY RAN OUT OF RIBS! Then the next table, and the next... All the while, we are sitting there with empty glasses and hungry looks on our faces and no food whatsoever. Ten minutes later, our server walks up to the OTHER table and fills their tea glasses, then turns to our table to give Amanda another Dt Coke. He starts to walk off when I stop him and ask him the status of the ribs... Finally at that point he decides to inform us there are NO RIBS, but we can sub another meat. By this time, I'm already ticked off, so I say no... He then says he'll talk to the manager (why?) and be right back. He comes back with a BILL FOR OUR DRINKS! I pay the bill, walk out, and will NOT be darkening the doors of Rib Crib for a while... But I WILL be on their website with a complaint. Stop #2 - Buckingham's BBQ, Nixa - We walk in, look over the menu for a while as the order taker sits behind the counter twidling her thumbs. Finally, my wife tells her she'll have a rack of ribs to which comes the reply, "sorry, WE'RE OUT OF RIBS." My reply is a huffy grunt and a quite loud "You have GOT to be KIDDING me!" as I turn and walk out the door. Two places NOTED FOR THEIR RIBS that are OUT OF RIBS on a HOLIDAY before 6pm? WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THIS???? Stop #3 - Ruby Tuesday's, Nixa - Only our second time here, but last time was OK and by now our diabetic kid, who THANK GOD has not taken any insulin yet, is really getting hungry. We walk in, the hostess asks how many - three - and proceeds to walk around the restaurant THREE TIMES in search of a table. Within clear eyesight, I see four freshly dressed and ready tables and one booth that just needs to be cleared and wiped off. But NOOOOOOOOOOO... We are FINALLY (after five minutes... I timed it...) taken to our table in the corner. OK... we're here... and the first question of the server is if they have any ribs... Yes, they do... So he takes off with an order for drinks. He comes back rather quickly with the drinks, sets them down, and takes off... I catch him and ask if he can get us an appetizer... Sure - and takes off before I can catch him again and let him know we're ready to order our meal. Well, 10 minutes later, he comes back and tells us the appetizer will be right out. Then he finally asks if we're ready to order. We do so, and he takes off again. Twenty minutes later, I notice that nobody in this area of the restaurant has anything to eat except one table that came in after we did. The table next to us has been there an hour. We've been there 40 minutes. The table across came in right after the one hour folks. FINALLY, the hostess comes by and wipes off the table behind me. I ask if she can check on our order. She says OK and takes off. Ten minutes later, still NOTHING... Finally, a guy comes out of the kitchen and serves a table down the way. One of the other tables with no food gets his attention. The manager comes over, tries to calm us all down, I've already gotten up to leave but Cindy said we HAD to eat something. My reply was "Eat what? The table cloth?" But I calmed down and waited. The manager offered us drink refills to which Cindy and I asked to have a beer. She said she would buy us a beer. Then she tells two other tables that their meals are on the house... in fact the whole section is on the house. Well, we FINALLY get our appetizer - broken chips and all - and then our meal... Then the bill... No the beer was not on it, but everything else was... By this time I am so angry, I just pay the bill and walk out... It will be a while before I eat ANYWHERE in Ozark or Nixa... Any restaurant people out there... If you don't have your act together for the night, at LEAST get out there and tell your customers. Offer them something for their trouble... But DON'T treat the next table BETTER than you do me... I WON'T be back... and I WILL let everyone I run into know about how horrible the service is... I don't expect perfection, but I DO expect an effort towards it... Rant off...

Funny... In all those pictures of all those big fish, I've never seen the shot holes where you've blasted them with the 12 gauge, Michael... Duane... And I thought you were flashing your head lamp... Now I know those were all muzzle blasts...
