Zach... what brand of rod was it? It may have a guarantee. I've had a couple of rods that I had replaced due to the guarantee against me being stupid... Little do they know... (shuddup, Leonard... )

Most furled leaders have a loop end on both ends. Some have a metal ring at the tippet end. Just add your tippet to the leader by loop-to-loop or Davy knot or other knot.

Nice pics... nice pheesh!... -
Web, Furled leaders are not really braided, but are twisted. Google "furled leader jigs" to learn more about how to make them. They are what you make them... They can be stiff, or supple. You control it with the material, wraps, and twisting. I've tried several and like most of them for sure. There was a guy at Conclave last year who had his jig there and was making them right there on the spot. I bought one of his and really liked it. Click here and read this article from "Hatches" magazine on making them. There is a lot of information on several websites on the jigs, materials, and how to make these leaders.

Uh... the fish never bite on Taney between October and December... Yeah... that's it... that's the ticket... they never bite... and the pine squirrel sculpin scares the trout away and attracts the Taneycomo Squid... yeah... the squid... that's it... that's the ticket... Nobody go fishing in Taney during October and November... The wicked witch of the Rebar will get you, my pretty... AND YOUR LITTLE DOG, TOO!!!! Just ask the great and powerful Wizard of Taney.... He'll tell ya... OK... OK... OK... Seriously... Here's the deal. I will start working full time while going to school full time on October 29th. I predict that since this will greatly hamper my ability to fish Taney, on that day the big browns will begin to gobble up flies all over the area between Outlet 1 and Big Hole... The brown "run" does seem to mirror very close the rut of the Whitetail deer... So early November is a good bet...

The sum of the Black Crows of any two sides of an AC/DC album is equal to the Stevie Ray Vaughn of the remaining Van Halen. Oh, joy! oh, rapture! I've got a brain!!!! "The Wizard of Taney" sees all, knows all... Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!!!! Hey Ducky... you forgot to mention how Michael pees in the water, checks the color and flow of the pee, and then wets his finger, points it to the sky, and then makes his predictions...

Naw, Dano... You're famous for two things... 1. The Elvis announcement... 2. Making Eagle Claw fly rods and Pfleugar reels popular again (share that reel part with Tom...) We won't mention that THIRD thing you're famous for... ...
-
So... all you real music fans... Where were you 30 years ago last Thursday (August 16th?) I bet I know where Dano was... I was in college... but can't remember exactly when I heard the news...

Yep... sounds like the symptoms of a virus. I use AVG free edition anti-virus which seems to work pretty well for me. Have you fired up your computer in safe mode, Phil? Sometimes just a simple fire up in safe mode then rebooting can clear things up. (Using my best "Elwood Blues" voice) - "Probably a "sign from God" to buy a Mac..."

The "cheap reel" debate is a fun one at times. The reel you mentioned will work.... now... What is the value of a reel? Some folks tend to view the reel as only a place to hold the fly line during storage. Many fish are landed without touching the reel. I, myself, put very few fish on the reel. So why spend big bucks on one? Others value a "good" reel to fight larger fish. A good drag will make a difference in a fight with a good size fish for sure. Other factors to be considered are the durability of the reel. Composite ("plastic") reels and cast aluminum reels can and will break if accidently dropped in the parking lot (personal experience speaking.) Machined reels are more "durable" in that sense. But, you may argue that you can buy 5 or 6 of the WalMart reels for the price of one "high dollar" reel. Honestly, I think it's a matter of personal taste, usage, and budgetary issues that help us decide which reel to use. As long as the $50 reel is working for you (I have a couple of $20 reels that are doing just fine myself) then go for it!!!

As part of my Political Science class, we were asked to log on to the link below and take a "test" to see where we actually lie politically. Many of us feel we are either "conservative" or "liberal" and many are. However, after going through the tutorial and test, I think some of you will be surprised just where you DO stand... Click on www.idealog.org and hit the "Run IDEAlog" link at the left. Then, click on the "Run IDEAlog" link on the next page unless you do not have the plugin and can't see the link. Just follow the instructions if you don't. Go through the indroduction and tutorial section before you do the self-test. At LEAST do the tutorial first. When you complete the self-test, let us know if you were surprised at the results. You don't have to tell where you "landed" but just if you were "right on" or "very different" from what you THOUGHT you were...

Bodiless rattler bites man

STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!!!! NEVER I mean NEVER try to pick up any fresh kill of any kind like that. Yes, nerves and muscles can still "work" after an animal is considered dead. I've watched dead snakes move a couple of hours after having their heads chopped off... Again.... STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!!!! -
Just listen to Johnny Cash... he can tell you... Now I taught the weeping willow how to cry, And I showed the clouds how to cover up a clear blue sky. And the tears that I cried for that woman are gonna flood you Big River. Then I'm gonna sit right here until I die. I met her accidentally in St. Paul (Minnesota). And it tore me up every time I heard her drawl, Southern drawl. Then I heard my dream was back Downstream cavortin' in Davenport, And I followed you, Big River, when you called. Then you took me to St. Louis later on (down the river). A freighter said she's been here but she's gone, boy, she's gone. I found her trail in Memphis, but she just walked up the block. She raised a few eyebrows and then she went on down alone. Now, won't you batter down by Baton Rouge, River Queen, roll it on. Take that woman on down to New Orleans, New Orleans. Go on, I've had enough; dump my blues down in the gulf. She loves you, Big River, more than me.

Web has some good thoughts there... Basically, if you lean toward the accounting, numbers crunching, pocket protector side of the equation, it use to be (and still is for the most part) a Microsoft (PC) world. If you lean more toward the colorful graphic animation, games and video, tee-shirt/tats/piercing world, it use to be (and still is) a Mac world. However, the two worlds seem to be more and more working toward the middle ground, or rather working towards melding into one big happy family. Maybe have the PC in one room and the Mac in another networked together with a WiFi system that your neighbors can suck internet off you... Hmmmmm.... Marketing tool for the resort? "Stay at Lilly's Landing - we have free wireless internet"?

There are several dropper rigs and methods you can use. The "top" fly can be a dry used as an indicator or can ride in front of the "bottom" fly in the water column. The top fly can be a bottom dweller with a mid column fly following. You can tie tippet to the bend in the top fly hook and attach a dropper, or you can use a swivel, or you can tie a piece of tippet above the top fly knot, or you can tie on the top fly and leave an extra long (12-24 inch) tag in the knot and use that for the dropper fly. I guess I'm trying to say the possibilities are somewhat endless...

Never had a woman in your life, there, Web? Everyone send me $500 and as soon as I have half a million in the bank, I'll post a picture of the PMS... (Don't worry, Leonard... you'll get a cut... 5 percent.... )

I have that reel (but used) and it is a sweet vintage reel. That one could be new/never used, but hard to tell for sure...
