Mike, You need to get with the Ozark Fly Fishers in St. Louis: Ozark Fly Fishers Contact: Brian Ellis 2216 Viewroyal Drive, St. Louis, MO 63131 Email: ellis@boeing.com Phone: (314) 822-1819 URL: http://ozarkflyfishers.org/ You don't have to be a member to go to Conclave, but being a member of an FFF club enhances your fly fishing for sure. Catfish, We got there around 5:30 and stayed until they drew for the raffle. We had to wait on my sister and BIL to eat, but was worth the wait. I went to school and/or worked with half the people working that meal and the booths or their parents. My mom taught 3/4 of them in school. I'll try to find out about St E's bazzar... if they still have one...
-
Yep... I was there. I was the one complaining there was no beer, hugging all the women, and harassing the Bingo caller... I DID have my fly shirt and Southern Council FFF cap on... I didn't find out about the Bazzar until late last week. My mom turns 80 tomorrow (Tue) and we went down to celebrate her birthday. Just drove down Saturday afternoon, went to St Vincent, and back home Sunday morning after breakfast. Those Gangluff boys sure do make a mean BBQ brisket!!! I even won a couple pounds of bacon and my wife won a tool box at Bingo! Wish I had known you were there. We could have set up to meet. OH... and my complaints about the lack of beer did score. One of the Gangluff boys directed me to the back of his pickup and a cooler full of Bud Light... Did see a lot of folks I haven't seen in years.... Funny story... We stopped at Branson to do a little clothes shopping at the outlet store for the kid. At the checkout counter they ask for your zip code. The lady next to us gave hers. It was very familiar. I looked over and called her name... She is from St Vincent... Small world...

Sobriety checkpoint....and shakedown....

HHC, Good advice! From personal experience, let me relate. I was on my way home on a business trip a few years back. I topped a hill going about 10 mph over the limit and met a highway patrol car. He turned and came after me, but the area we were in (at 11pm or so) was pretty remote and not very "shoulder friendly" so I gave him a wave and drove about a mile and a half or more to a parking lot of a restaurant and motel. When he approached me, he asked if I did not see him and I explained I did not want to pull off "back there" and wanted to find a better spot so we would not be too close to the road and traffic. He looked up the highway and said, "Oh, well, I... uh... yeah... I appreciate that, sir." He DID give me a ticket, though... -
Welcome to the forum...

What's worse, drew, is that some people actually FALL for that kind of thing... If I had all the money that has been promised me from Africa and the middle east, I would buy the Waltons, Bill Gates, and several sheiks... And I've had about 328 "cousins" die in tragic accidents, plane crashes, car crashes, and such over there... Of course my eBay and PayPal accounts get screwed up every once in a while and "they" need my personal information to make sure I am me... My wife got her first "your eBay account is suspended" email last night... Thank GOD she told me about it, because she was thinking it was true... Looks like it's from eBay... smells like it's from eBay... but it AIN'T from eBay... By the way... if any of you get a suspicious email "from eBay"... forward it to spoof@ebay.com... They will let you know pretty fast if it is legit or not... and most times it is not...

Which reminds me... With the humidity and some storms coming through, my hair is all frizzy and hard to manage... What shampoo are you guys using to keep the frizzies down?
-

I waiting my by mail station... And have a nice day... " (Thanks, guys, for protecting us from the spam... "The SPAMINATORS!!!!")
-
Well, THAT'S a given... Tisha has already outfished me... (Shuddup, Leonard... )
-
Did the Grand Master PooPah give you a little dance around the brass pole? Did he flash his headlights at you at the lap dance? Yeah, you never "see" the squid... But he's there...
-
Gotta give credit where credit is due... It's not my sculpin... Leonard showed me that fly... But it IS a killer on Taney for sure... Whomever the fly belongs to... With Tisha and Christina in the Strippers Club, it now has a WHOLE new meaning... I guess we'll have to cut down on the chili dogs before fishing, guys...
-
What kind of work are you looking for, Ducky? I'll keep my eyes and ears open during my search. Maybe when Flex wins the lottery, he'll hire BOTH of us!!!
-
Caddis... Just be careful around Gore and don't run into the bridge and let it fall on your head... (They got trouts in Gore? Dang... wish I'd-a knowed that a few years ago... use to go through Gore about twice a month... shesh...)
-
PJ... half the fun of night fishing is in the parking lot for sure... Great bunch of folks... Welcome to the strippers club...
-
Tisha, There are a lot of guys and gals around here who will be more than willing to give you and your BF some casting and fishing 101s... Southwest Missouri Fly Fishers meet the second Thursday of the month at the Nature Center in Springfield. Keep an eye out for other opportunities on this forum. Click here for the SMFF website... We'll also get you into fly tying and other fly fishing related "stuff." After you learn some basic fly fishing, we'll initiate you and your BF in the Friday Night Taney Strippers Club... I know you talked about fishing at night... You get into fly fishing and you'll dump those ultralights in the garbage.... (Not that there's anything wrong with spin fishing... kudos to Jerry Seinfeld) Stream hair care products? You been talkin' to John Wilson?...
-
Get them rods and streamers ready fellas... I won't be there... Heading south to Arkansas for my mom's 80th birthday and the Bazaar at St. Vincent... So the fishing will be ON big time...
-
... and 16 inches no doubt... (I should know... been there, done that... )

Fishing "gin clear" waters

Hey Dano... I fogot to add "What rod should I be using when holding my fish out in front of me at arm's length during the picture?" -
Yeah, lesson learned... And, yes, welcome to the forum, Tisha... When you learn to use that fly rod, you can give me some lessons... Maybe we can compare notes on stirring things up around here, too... Hey... I WISH I had caught a dink yesterday... And as for the rest of you jokers... oh... wait... can't use those symbols... Here... let me tap it out is Morse code No, Dano... I was not wearing gloves... but I WAS shuffling...
-
Wow... What a bummer. I've witnessed some "dumb" things at boat ramps and some honest "D'OH"s as well. Most of them cause damage to property... but personal injury is always a possibility. Yeah... let's be careful out there... Glad to hear the prognosis is good...
-
OK... OK... OK... I didn't see the fish that well. She was upstream from me and in the fog... that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it... OK... that and I was jealous... But I would have sworn that fish was around 15 inches or so. You DID get a round of applause from the tourist observation deck... That was pretty kewl since you were the only one that caught anything... Nice pheesh afterall, Tisha! Nice meeting you yesterday even though we didn't really meet, just chatted a bit. Yes, you did offer me a scud, but my set up was not geared for scud fishing. And I was getting ready to leave. OH... and by the way... it's a matter of perspective... With my big...uh... profile... a fish like that looks like a dink when I hold it up... And besides... it's hard to focus on a fish when someone like that is holding it up...

Fishing "gin clear" waters
Terry Beeson replied to Terry Beeson's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Actually, I would like everyone's opinion on wearing gloves while foul hooking fish on power bait at outlet 2 brought up by shuffling while running your boat between fishermen on an olive wooly bugger I named the "Terry Fly"... And what effect that has on DO and minimum flow.... at night... -
No... I think I should have been ready to switch to scuds... Or the fish need a lesson...
