Are we talking catch and release or keepers? If C&R I would suggest you consider using a Ketchum Release tool or similar instead of a net unless you want a picture. While I don't use one myself, the rubber nets are the ticket you're looking for. They are more expensive than the mesh, but it gets rid of your problem. For me, I'll deal with the occasional tangle... Yet ANOTHER reason for barbless hooks...

Settling out of court is probably in the best interest of everyone at this point. However, had this become a big public court proceeding, it might have opened the eyes of a lot of the public and many developers that they can not just start scalping the land without repercussion. I'm with you, John. I'm glad TU has a dog in the fight. Maybe something will begin to happen soon. "The owner of Homeport Land Co., Benny Doyal, has spent almost $170,000 to clean up the site in accordance with ADEQ standards. In June, ADEQ officials said they were satisfied with the steps Doyal had taken at the site. In August, a heavy rain washed away hay bales and silt fences on the site and the lawsuit was filed." Maybe ADEQ needs to raise their "standards" a bit.

Welcome to the forum. My wife use to work at OMC and we were members of MedEvac. I'm just glad I never got to meet you under a professional circumstance.... We'll be anxious to get some reports from you...

Crappie.com (click here) has a good discussion on Arkansas Blacknose in their forum. If you look at those fillets under a microscope, you might never again eat any fish...

Nope... wasn't MY trash... Now if it had been an OLIVE PSS, then it would have been mine... You know, Leonard, you should quit claiming the fish that your son actually catches. That's just WRONG!!! We all know he's a much better fisherman than you. And I bet HE tied those PSCSs... And what are you doing fishing in the daylight? Doesn't your fly rod turn into a pumpkin at daylight? Or is that the blue van that turns into the pumpkin? Watch out guys... Next thing on Leonard's list of flies to invent is the PS-PDQ-NYFD-ICU812-MRPIGGS-MRNOTPIGGS-OSAR-LIB-MRPIGGS2 Sounds like the day I was having yesterday only the fish gained a couple of pounds overnight...

I don't fish them as often as I would probably like to, but seems I'm better at "matching the hatch" when it comes to flies under the surface. I've fished the Spring River (AR) with a dry and really enjoy that surface take. Something about watching that trout sip the fly off the surface that makes a chill go down the spine... This might be a good topic for a session at Sowbug and/or Conclave about fishing dries in the White River basin...

YOU'RE the one responsible for all the Playboy and Spice Channel charges on my cable bill!!!! At LEAST you could RECORD them!

Your secret is safe with me and the first 4-500 people I run into... Nice pics... That second one looks mighty familiar, though....

I had a buddy of mine tell me he was fishing one hot summer day and had a guy horn in on him when he started hauling in 3-6 lb fish from a weedbed. Well, after a couple of bumps of the boats, my bud just drops his rod onto the deck, takes his shoes off, and decided to cool off... That's right... he jumped right in and spalshed around saying the water was really refreshing. The guy in the other boat said a few choice words, indicated my buddy was "number one" and sped off...

A couple of shots from a .45 across their bow sometimes works... I feel your pain, dude... I quit bass fishing and don't care to fish tournaments for that very reason. I got crowded to the point that I just quit... I don't fish for money or glory. I fish to relax. Anyway, I did have a couple of guys move in on me one time that were fishing in a tournament. After I cast across their lines a couple of times and tangled up their rigs with mine with a "Oh... I'm sorry... I've been casting to that spot for 10 minutes and didn't notice you had started casting there too..." they finally got the message and moved on. I still want to try the .45 across the bow, but I don't look good in an orange jumpsuit...

Birthday Greetings 3/4 and 3/5 2007

Happy Birthday guys... Have a good one! -
I noticed a "buffalo gnat" hatch around my head in the parking lot about 3pm... jeez those things can be annoying... The guy fishing below me was catching quite a few on a black bugger with a bit of Krystal Flash in them. That was around 1:30 when I got there until about 2:30 and they turned off again. He gave me one to try, but I had to leave before I got a chance.

I missed it... dang it... but I think it turned the fish on...

Can't tell you how many times the deer hunting has been so slow that I put the rifle and bow in the back seat and brought out the fishing rod to take home some Crappie between November and January. Looks like you might be doing the same at times now... Sounds like a good trip...

Fishing 3/4 and late afternoon emergency
Terry Beeson replied to bobby b.'s topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
The horn went off at 3:30 pm just as I was loading up to leave. I did say a little prayer that everyone would get out safe... I hope they did. Now you have me anxious to know for sure... That horn is nothing to ignore for sure... -
Wasn't me, Seth... My Ranger is an extended cab with no cover, slightly "slammed" and still has "Arkie" plates... I was parked about halfway down the first parking lot between outlet 1 & 2. Wasn't me for sure opening day because I was parked at work... Yep... I'm ready to get home tonight and tie up a few squirrels for my next trip.

That ain't that small... I grew up in a "town" so small it only had a store, post office, and school. My mom was the school teacher, my dad the mailman, and my sister ran the store... Now THAT'S small... (about 100 population... still...) Yes sir those small lakes can hold big fish. When I was a kid, I was with my dad on the farm when he went to check on an older couple fishing in the 45 acre lake located in one corner of the farm. While we were there, the lady caught a fish (on a cane pole by the way...) She fought it for about 15 minutes before her hubby finally grabbed the 9 lb bass. About that time, HIS bobber went under and after another 15 minute fight, HE landed a SECOND 9 lb-er.... Since then I've always LOVED to bass fish small lakes for big bass. My best was a 7 1/2 - 8 lb largemouth on a lake about 65 acres big. I've always wanted to try the Gustafson/Goldman thing and fish through the ice... Well, ice thicker than a couple of inches.... Welcome to the forum, Jordan...

I got to spend a couple of hours on Taney this afternoon. Not a lot to report, but it did start off GREAT! I got to TRD around 1:30 and walked in at Outlet 1. I had tied an olive pine squirrel sculpin onto the end of my 5 wt and knew when I stepped in the water that I had "dun good." I almost stepped in a sculpin and he darted away. As I was making my way to the middle of the stream, I noticed the guy fishing downstream was fighting a fish. As soon as I got even with him, I cast the sculpin and "BAM" got a strike and hauled in a nice 12 inch 'Bow. The guy below me and I both caught fish on every other cast. All of them 10-14 inch and fat as town dogs! Anyway, the wind was pretty rough, and I made one bad backcast that cost me the only olive pine squirrel sculpin in the fly box. I tied on an olive zonker and continued to catch, but not as many. Then they just shut off... I had to leave at 3pm and was getting ready to leave when the horn went off... three times... So, the day was probably bust anyway... Had my OAF cap on!!! Must be a good luck cap! Good fishing even if there were no bigguns......
