  1. Thanks
  2. I see that you have a Jackson Bite kayak. I just bought 2 of those boats. How did it handle on the Eleven Point river?
  3. Thomasville down to Arkansas is about 50 miles, but there is a lot of dead water to paddle through the last day or two. I've never been above Greer Spring in the summer, so not sure how much dragging is needed. I've heard it gets pretty low. Have you considered the Buffalo River in Arkansas instead?
  4. I called Boiling Spring Campground today to reserve a campsite, rent 2 kayaks, and pay for shuttling of 2 private kayaks. They told me they don't do private shuttles? I find that hard to believe as I've never run into an outfitter before that won't take that easy money. Are there any other options for camping, renting, and shuttling on the Gasconade near that area? Needs to be family friendly.
  5. Extreme stealth would be my advice. This goes for walking and moving around and casting and presentation. You may even need to sit and wait at a hole for 30 minutes before the first cast.
  6. I tried a float on the Niangua a few years ago and it was packed shoulder-to-shoulder with floaters. Are there floats on the river that have much less people and mostly fishermen? I'm especially interested in smallmouth fishing.
  7. Mind if I ask the take-in and take-out locations? My dad and I have been trying to find some good smallie waters.
  8. Great job guiding us to the fish as always, Brian! Thanks!
  9. I believe that is a mayfly.
  10. Thanks for the info. We'll be taking two cars to shuttle our kayaks. Unless you know of anyone that would provide shutting services?
  11. My dad and are floating between Competition and Falcon and spending one night on the river. Could someone please tell me where the access points are near Competition and Falcon?
  12. I fly fish and used dries on Mill Creek.
  13. I've fished Mill Creek a few times. Beautiful little creek with wild rainbows. The fish are mostly the size of fingerlings. Lots of overhanging tree branches.
  14. The pickerel is beautiful and big! Nice catch! That's the first real stonefly I've every seen on the EPR, and I have looked for the often. How did you locate it, under a rock?
  15. Thanks again, everyone, for the tips.

  17. Where can I find those?
  18. Thanks for all the tips! Can't wait to hunt down my first walleye.
  19. Ahhh. I see! I'll definitely try that then.
  20. I'm looking for sub-surface flies most likely.
  21. I'm looking for a couple of suggestions on effective flies for fly fishing for walleye in late Feb. early Mar. I'll either tie them if they're easy enough or buy them.
  22. Our troop is using Two River Canoe Rental for our 50-mile float trip. They are putting us in at Baptist on Monday, and we're taking out at Two Rivers Friday night. What are the attractions along the way that we should stop and visit? Are there any places along that part of the river to restock ice, water, and use the bathrooms and empty trash?
  23. We'll be getting off the river on Saturday morning.
  24. I just realized all of the email alerts for this thread went to spam. Thanks for the replies! We'll be floating Monday afternoon to Saturday afternoon. Our troop does a long float every year and our kids are taught to respect nature and others and we practice the principles of Leave No Trace. We have plenty of adult leadership including fathers. We'll have around 14 people total.
  25. Hello, everyone. We are taking a boy scout troop on a 50-mile float on the Current River this summer. I was wondering if you all could offer some advice. 1. Are there some outfitters that offer discounted rates for Boy Scout troops? 2. What are the best places to put in and take out to cover 50 miles of water? 3. Are there places along these route where we can restock water and ice? 4. Are there any must-see scenic areas that we should stop and explore along the way? 5. Is river-bank camping readily available along the route? And/or are there campgrounds?
