  1. We're actually hoping to find some top-water smallmouth fishing closer to home. The EPR is 4+ hours away and the fish don't come to the surface much, if at all. We fish the EPR for trout several times per year.
  2. My friend and I are looking for a smallmouth fly fishing guide. We live in Columbia, MO. We're interested in exploring the smallmouth waters that are relatively close to the Columbia (within 3-4 hours) area. We're especially interested in top-water fishing and we prefer remote areas where possible (i.e., avoiding the canoe hatches). We'd like to learn how to find and catch larger smallmouth. EDIT: We are looking for a professional fly fishing smallmouth guide (to hire for a day of fishing).
  3. The lake in Columbia has been stocked. I've caught plenty of trout there this year.
  4. Any suggestions for flies and size for this time of the year (for rainbow or browns). What size tippet is recommended? The Current has kicked my butt every time I've been there, so I'd like to be better prepared with known-to-work flies this time.
  5. We are fly fishing. And we're 100% catch-and-release. Fly suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.
  6. My brother and I are camping and fishing the Current River Mon and Tues the week of Thanksgiving. We will probably spend most of our time around Tan Vat and Baptist. We were wondering what the brown trout activity is like that time of the year? Is there a spawn going on? How to fish for browns? That sort of thing.
  7. How would you guys compare the Lamson Konic to the Ross Flyrise? I have two Konics, but have been wanting to try out a Ross Flyrise.
  8. Nice fish. Thanks for the report.
  9. We have 4 coming down from Columbia, MO. Max, Chad, Dave, and Wil. Here's the webpage for the event: http://www.11pointcanoe.com/flyflingers.htm
  10. What happened to them?
  11. You never know when or where Tito the Ghost Angler will appear ...
  12. "Kinda surpised the fish don't grow larger overall." Me, too! Any ideas?
  13. There is no chance that won't catch bluegill.
  14. I enjoyed reading that report very much. Thanks for taking the time to share it!

  17. Do you have a link to the bag you purchased? (I have an Orvis sling bag and it is in no way waterproof.)
  18. I look forward to your report!
  19. Under $100.
  20. I recently purchased a TFO Finesse 3wt 4pc fly rod. I'm looking for some advice on an affordable reel that will balance well with the rod.
  21. I use a sling bag and I love it. I've been using it for years. http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=96Y1
  22. Gaines? Got a link?
  23. You should match the line weight to the rod.
  24. Do you have a link to the product?
  25. We had another fantastic day fishing Kris Nelson (guide) on Taneycomo. We spent most of the morning chuck-and-ducking sub-surface flies and caught a ton of fish, many nice, large ones. I got into one that tore off all of my line and most of my backing. We fished dries, pounding the banks for the last couple of hours of the day and did pretty well. We had a very exciting "triple" on dries. All three of us had a fish on at once, and we landed all three of them. Once again I must say, Kris Nelson (http://tandemflyoutfitters.com/) is an excellent guide. If you are looking for a great time catching fish in the Ozarks, give Kris a whirl. You won't regret it. All of our trips with him have exceeded all expectations.
