  1. Eric, i too enjoy watching your reports and not once did it cross my mind you were feeding the public "false" information to drum up business for yourself. I never post on this site because I'm not from the area and would have very little to contribute, but i enjoy reading all the reports to get me through the long Iowa winters. When i read Bill's response to the posting of the videos, i was shocked by his assault on you and was inspired to submit a post. Now I'm sure Bill will respond by saying he wasn't directly attacking you or your reports, but the rest of us on the site who have non-biased opinions will agree with me, this was attack on your character. I think Bill's post showed very little class, especially considering both your report and Pete's report said the same thing. I encourage all who post to keep on posting the reports and videos; the silent majority loves to read them and we don't past judgement on you like others do.
  2. My wife offered me the same deal after she received a bonus for work. I would suggest if you are going to spend that sort of money, go light weight. The two reels I would suggest are the Shimano Stradic CI4 and the Pflueger Patriarch. Both are light as a feather (7 oz) and cost $200. I got the CI4 and I think it is an awesome reel. As for a rod, I would suggest a Shimano Crucial or Cumara. Both are super sensitive and have life time warranty. I got the Cumara and accidently broke the tip off. I sent the rod to Shimano and within a week I had a new rod at my doorstep. Another good company to buy a rod from is St. Croix. Make sure you consider their lifetime warranty rods because they are great at honoring their warranties too. If you are spending that kind of money, its nice to know you will have the rod for a very long time.
  3. Its the top subject in this tablerock forum. Its labeled "Url For Finding Structures On Tablerock"
  4. I tried EasyGPS with no success. Must be GPS Babel. Thanks.
  5. Does anybody on this forum have experience downloading the MDC structure waypoints from the top of the forum onto a humminbird unit. I consider myself somewhat knowledgable with this sort of thing, but I just can't get the waypoints into humminbird PC. I have downloaded .gpx file to my computer, but it seems to be in a lowrance and garmin format. I have tried ever way I can think of to get it to work, but I have had no success. I figure since the bite on the lake right now sucks right now, maybe somebody might be able to help me.
  6. Thank you all for your suggestions. Going to give DynaProp a try. Can't wait to get down there and fish next week.
  7. Using my buddies boat when I come down in October. I plan on removing the prop and just dropping it off until it is done. I come down to tablerock a bunch in late fall, winter and early spring because the only fishing happening here is ice fishing. Thanks for the advice.
  8. I need some help finding a good prop repair man. While loading my boat on tablerock a couple of weeks back, I hit a rock and slightly bent 2 blades of my stainless steel prop and have nicks and scratches on all three blades. I live in Iowa and local boat shop stated most props cost $160 if they don't need welding. I thought this was ridiculous and now plan on bringing my prop down with me to tablerock at the end of October to see if I can save a little money. Any suggestions on where to take it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I was wondering what kind of hours the shops are open because I want to do some fishing while down there. I need to know when to pull off the water so that I can get my prop to them. Thanks again.
  9. I acciedently broke a shimano rod and sent it back with a letter saying it broke while trying to pull my lure from a snag. They replced it at no cost to me. All I had to do is pay for postage. It only took them 2 weeks to get me a new pole. I attatched the website explaining what to do and where to send. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/Warrenty_Services.html
  10. Tfsh, I enjoy your reports and pics (I also fish the indian point area alot), I hope this does not keep you from posting in the future. I live in Iowa and the ponds near my house are beginning to freeze for the winter, so those reports and pictures help me get through my cold winters of no fishing.
  11. Here is a link to answer your questions. Looks to me that commercial dock owners have the right to patrol and protect the area around their docks, but only people with federal jurisdiction would be able to enforce the regulation. According to the article, the water patrol does not have jurisdiction to enforce this regulation. My question is how do I find out if the dock is a commercially licensed dock? http://www.mswp.dps.mo.gov/News/NRDetailbasic.asp?Type=G&offset=80&ID=N07060027
  12. Thanks for the advice from all of you. I had decided to hire a guide, but all the guides I called are booked, some until late October. I still plan on going Tuesday or Wednesday and maybe I will get lucky and figure out the fish. If I don't catch one, I will still enjoy it. Fly fishing is new to me and I am just excited I get to try it again. I am from Iowa and we don't have many, if any, trout streams around my part of the state.
  13. I'm coming down to TR monday and fishing in the winter bass series with a buddy next Saturday. While down there, I want to try to do some fly fishing on Taneycomo for a day or two. I am new to fly fishing and have only been on one fly fishing trip (yellowstone, and it was awesome!). Would it be worth it to hire a guide or is Taneycomo an easy lake to pattern for a novice? I am leaning towards hiring a guide, but if you all think should be able to get on a fish or two without a guide, I will reconsider. I also want to mention I am catch and release angler and will not be keeping any of my catch.
  14. Thanks for your help guys. Terry, I was a little misleading in saying I wanted a #5 Evolution Vexsis. I want the 5 weight #2 Vexsis reel. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I was real tired when I posted last night. It looks like I will be going with the Sage Ross combo. My gut had been telling me all along to get those two, but it was nice to hear it from you all. Thank you all so much for your quick responses.
  15. I plan on purchasing a very nice combo and I am torn on which to choose. The first choice is a Sage Z-axis 590-4 with Ross Evolution Vexis #5 reel. The second is an Orvis ZG Helios 905-4 with Orvis CFO II reel #5. I been researching this on the internet the past week and I am starting to lean toward the Sage/Ross. It seems to me that Orvis ocasionally has a bad review on some of their other products, and this concerns me. If anyone has personal experience with any of these companies, your opinion will be greatly appreciated. Going to Yellowstone next month, so I will be making this purchase next weekend.
  16. Thanks for the info. I had no idea the stickers were available and planned on buying a couple of sets.
  17. ktm3ten, your post brings back memories of my first years of fishing on Table Rock. My college buddy (Reelhawk) parent's had bought a resort on Indian Point and we would come down to fish on breaks. We sucked at catching fish. We did not know what to throw, where to fish and we didn't know of any forums like this on the web to help us out. One day we were out struggling to get a bite and crossed paths with a local guide. It was the best thing that ever could have happened to us. He told us where they were biting, what they were biting on, and gave us a handful of the plastics lures to fish with until we could go get our own. We finally started catching fish on a lake that always seemed to humble us. I don't know the name of the guide who helped us approxamatly 15 yrs ago, but if you are on this forum reading this, I want to say thanks. I also want to say thanks to the guides who are nice enough to post their reports on this site. Your information helps me enjoying catching fish the 2 times a year I get to come visit.
  18. Reelhawk had called to tell me he had been killing the bass in the backs of coves and invited me to the cove he was in. In one hour of fishing in his cove, my partner and I had 3 keepers, including these two 3lb 10 oz bass. We did not fish longer because we needed to head back to Iowa. Who would have guessed the fish would be that active in the back of coves with 46 degree water. This cove had shad all over the place, but the difference between this cove and other coves with shad was that this one did not have any dying shad on the surface. Don't know if that mattered or not, just thought I would throw that out there. Thanks for inviting us over Reelhawk.
  19. Here is the picture. Caught it on a grub in 10 ft of water near back of cove. I was hoping to catch some on jerkbaits, but I had a problem fishing them in the wind we had today.
  20. Unfortunatly, I will not be making it to the tournament tomorrow. The hydraulic steering in my boat sprung a leak and it is no loger safe to drive at high speeds. When I trim my motor up, the hyrdualic line brushes up against the transom and it somehow loosened the fitting enough to allow air into the system. I know how to fix the problem, but don't have the tools or hydraulic fluid to fix it here. As for my fishing, it has been slow since I am limited to the indian point area. I did catch a real nice 5.5 lb smallie and a kentucky, and nothing else.
  21. I live in Glenwood and my fishing partner lives in Council Bluffs. My buddy from Des Moines and his friend (the other EP from Iowa on this forum) are also coming down. My buddy's parents own a resort on Indian Point, which explains my dam area experience.
  22. I'm just writing to say I am totally pumped about getting to fish in the AIA tournament this weekend. It has been a long winter in Iowa with more snow than I have ever seen in my 36yrs. With how bad the winter had been, I still find it hard to believe I am fishing tomorrow. My partner has never been to TR, so I hope the poor conditions change so that he can experience the Rock in its true glory. I only have experience fishing around the dam, so I might need to make my first trip up one of the rivers to find warmer water. I have been hearing a lot about Aunt's Creek. Should I try there? We will be fishing out of a white Stratos with black and gold stripes & 225 Evinrude on it. I hope to meet some of you at the tournament. If I find some fish, I will be sure to post a report and maybe I will no longer be considered a lurker.
  23. When it comes to online shopping, I no longer use BPS because their selection is not as good as Landbigfish.com or Tacklewarehouse.com. BPS shipping cost are ridiculous too. They charge by the amount you spend, not size or weight. I have used both the websites I listed and they each have a huge selection, competitive prices and extremely cheap and fast shipping.
  24. You must register your unit on the web site first. This is done under the link "support", then "product registration". If you are already registered, just log onto the site under "support", then "my account" and the links to the updates will show up in the "my profile box". The "HummingbirdPC" program is also located there for download to your computer.
