  1. QUOTE "Bottom line is, you are responsible for your own safety. You can not blame it on a SW Power employee, faulty equipment, or the guy across the stream failing to let you know the water was coming up. The horn is a courtesy, we all know what will happen when they turn the water on. I always used a marker stone and kept a watch on it." Good point JD! I always look for some rock or marker and keep an eye on it. Even then not a good idea to wade out too far at the BS dam tailwater on the White ...it comes up really fast sometimes
  2. I almost went under at the same spot one late morning. I heard the horn but chose a spot ot walk out with a deep hole between the shore and my location. I was up to my armpits before i got to shore with a little help from a taller guy that helped me. If you are wading parallel with the shore that is easy to do. When the fishing is good it is easy to get distracted.
  3. Yes indeed, That was supper tonight. The fry-daddy got a workout. Gooood eating.
  4. Landed at bwl lake 34 at dusk lst night.
  5. No length limit but 15 daily limit.
  6. Gator .... I will be down thurs - Sunday maybe we can hook up sometime to swap stories or fish. Will send PM with cell phone.
  7. Caught at Warsaw below Truman March 31 by Zach my grandson. Zach is over 6 foot so estimate the spooner. He and friends had a great day of snagging.
  8. Sorry DaddyO but if I am not mistaken .... residents only.
  9. Great report. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Don't forget you still have to buy a trout permit even though the regular license is free and hunting special permits (deer and turkiey) I think? .
  11. Here most every day.
  12. Thanks Bred. What lakes would you recommend?
  13. if they are not running too much water you can walk the trail behind the cabins down to the shoals and wade fish there. I also like to drive down to the white hole access and the entire bank on on either side of the launching area is always great. You can also cross over the other side and fish wildcat shoals farther down if the water is not too swift.
  14. If you are talking about kolondike by Katy trail the big lake there is full of fish catch and release. I caught a nice 4# largemouth there off the bridge and you can catch bluegil off the bridge forever. The trick is to get the bait down fast enough to get by the 3 inchers at the top and down where the large gills are hiding under logs and under the bridge in the shade. Lots of fun though for younguns that just want to catch something. Use very small hooks with long shank like a cricket hook and cover it with a short piece of crawler. small jigs also will catch bass and gills. Micros in green, white, yellow/blk etc 1/250 to 1/80.
  15. Thanks. Nice fish and report Leonard. Thanks for snapping the pic Duane.
  16. Duane et al thanks for the report: I don't care so much how they spells them thar words, but I do care how they catches them thar fish. Leonard how bout a pic of the new fly when you get time.
  17. Loomis has a nice reel for around $ 100 and it has a wonderful quiet drag unlike the Orvis that goes click click all the way home. I have one on my9 ft. 5 wgt orvis trident 7.5 mid flex and love it. I can't remember the name of the model but BPS carries them and they are a nice goldtone color. Balances reel (sp) nice on the Orvis rod.
  18. MDRSTL: Please don't take all of the posts personal. Their are a few members that get real picky and critical at times. The majority of the members here enjoy looking at the pics. I wonder just how long those deformed fish would survive anyway. I was an interesting post and informative pic segment. I think the best part of this forum is the vast numbers of knowledgable members with diverse opinions. Keep posting and ignore the ignorant. Don't take literally all of the comments since there lots of us with dry humor and satire inserted in our posts that is not meant to be critical but to just add to the flavor of the forum. For the most part the large percentage of the posters are well meaning sportsman and if you have the pleasure of meeting them in person you will find are just great folks. Keep on posting and don't let the sarcasam and critics get to you. Your opinions are just a valuable as theirs and absence from this forum would be a loss for us. Our great Admin team will red button sometimes but they allow lots of leeway which is great and do little censorship.
  19. I love this forum. Lots of views that are informational in spite of the pot stirring that sometimes occurs. Just don't take everthing you read personal or as the last word on this subject.
  20. Wow!, on the forum 3 months and alrady knows so much about the sportsmen that have been here for nearly 5 years. Let see the profile says no friends!!! No info on profile, and classy screen name "waderfarts" Guys better listen up us'ns hill billy baitchuckers and dynomite fishers can larn a lots frum this guy.
  21. Actually I meant anglers and archery as the guide service that I would recommend and I have had nothing but excellent advice and service from them. The other guide service that I didnt mention by name is at the upper end of the lake nuff said. Or mayby too much. What angered me about the guide I paid 300 dollars and a nice tip showed pretty a pretty bad attitude and actually threatened some waders because they were in HIS spot. Not the sportsmanship and traits that I want my grandson to see. Thanks for clearing that up for mew Lool0
  22. Phil: I logged in just fine now and so far no problems. Thanks for your timely addressing of the issues and providing such a great site and forum. We the members of the forum appreciate you and your admin team for the great service that you provide.
  23. Best bet: Go through Phil (Lilley's Landing)or River Run near the dam to get a guide and you cant go wrong. I have done both. there is another outfitter near the upper area (not from a reosort or dock) that I have used twice and was disapointed both times. I take my grandchildren out for one on one with guide to learn or if I dont want to pull the boat down. I can usually stumble along on my own if by myself and catch fish. Just tell the service what type of fishing method you are wanting to learn and call early and they can fix you up for a great trip. Well worth the money for first trip or learning the skills. If you want to go at night Leanord Keeley (Taneycomo nights.com is very good and will put you on fish or die trying.
