  1. JD midwest Quote: JD The reasons that Palin's daughter has not been brought up. 1: Its off limits and out of character. 2: Alot of the American Public has the same problem, it gives her something more in common with the average Joe. 3: Obama is the product of an 18 year old unwed pregnancy. End quote. If 1 is out of character why is the statement you make in 3 is not. Which by the way is only speculation. If it is so off limits why do you mention the exact same fact about Obama???????????????? Oh I get it .... only off limits if it is a republician.. Taxi ....maybe a wizz test should be a requirement for posting here??? by the logic in some of the posts.
  2. Trav who is this guy signing the nafta document ? double click the picture and read the caption. President GWBush pushed the nafta agreement until buchannan scared the pants off him in the 92 election. Clinton signed the final agreement with most republicans and democrats voting in favor ot the treaty. A picture is worth a thousands words of misinformation

There is a way to fix it but everytime the money is allocated they never complete the job. As I said before which you must of missed European nations on the north coast have been doing it for years They gave up on levees in the 30's and have a soficticated line of sea walls that move in and out of ports, rivers and inlets with tides, high winds and huge north atlantic storms that come in monthly. They work fine and have replaced the dikes and levees which constantly fail/

Rusty: The whole northern coast of central Europe is several feet below sea level. Much more than 4 ft. The goverenments there have taken proactive measures to take care of it. I saw a film on modern miracles where huge walls were moved in and out in the seaports automatically as storms are detected from the treacherous northern seas there. Those storm are category 3 to 5 often and there is never a cathasophre. Of course the governtments there do not give away billions of tax payers money to solve every other country around the world problems either. They take care of their own first. It is a political problem that can be laid at the feet of both parties Dem and Rep for neglecting the 4th largest seaport in the world.....New Orleans. It is in the national interest to secure that harbor for national defense and enconomic security. If we can send a man to the moon and every politician from both parties to tour every country in the world to find out what you can by watching the travel channel on cable and of course get some photo ops for elections ..... then we can surely afford to secure New Orleans. 5. Dovetail: Looks like Phil's dock. If that is the case it is a good place to revive and feed since fishing is not allowed between the boat slips. If the pig does like we are told goes back to its imprinted area it will soon be back up to the hole where his size and aggression gave her a territory. probably take her a day to get back and reclaim the spot. Still better than on a grill somewhere or on a family room wall. Thanks for releasing it friend. Thom
  6. this is the results of a water survey taken by "stream team" in Missouri from the Spring River. The Visual Stream Survey is used to determine if there are any obvious pollution problems on the river and to characterize the riparian environment through which the river flows, like (1) floodplain land use, (2) riparian cover, (3) riverbank cover, (4) bed composition of riffle, (5) percent embeddedness of cobble structure, (6) signs of human use, (7) algae, (8) water color, and (9) water odor. The Biological Monitoring includes completing a Macro invertebrate data sheet. We'll be looking for specific Macro invertebrates that are (1) sensitive, (2) somewhat sensitive or (3) tolerant of water quality. They include: Caddis Fly Larvae, Hellgrammites, Mayfly Nymphs, Gilled Snails, Riffle Beetles, Stonefly Nymphs, Water Penny Larvae, other Beetle Larvae, Clams/Mussels, Crane Fly Larvae, Crayfish, Dragonfly Nymphs, Damselfly Nymphs, Scuds, Sow bugs, Fish fly Larvae, Alderfly Larvae, Water snipe Fly, Aquatic Worms, Black Fly Larvae, Leeches, Midge Larvae, Pouch Snails, and other Snails. it indicates that all of the above are found in the river and are being checked for any problems.
  7. LMW: I am jealous but I will be back there soon. Great to hear you and wife had a great time. It seems that every time I fish Taney I learn something new and meet some great folks. Even a bad day fishing is better than a good one at work. Sounds as though you did great fishing yesterday though. Wait until you catch em midging or hitting small jigs. Lots of non stop fun. Thom
  8. LMW: I have found that Lilleys is a great place to stay for the following reasons when I run out of timeshare time it is where I head as well as most of my friends and family. 1. It is located on a great spot on Taney. Upstream or down good fishing depending on how you fish. 2. Great place to launch (Coopers) and dock folks will help you get set up launching if needed. 3. Always someone available at dock for help or advice. 4. Keeping boat at dock is less expensive if you are a guest than launching every day. 5. Lodging and tackle shop (well stocked) as good or better than most anywhere. 6. Boat rental very reasonable also. 7. Customer service excellent. Just ask and they will usually exceed your expectations. Thom
  9. Wow don't that make your juices flow. I reminds me I have about 6 trips to schedule between now and December at Taney I need to get busy. I know that guy and some of his close competers are still in the stream. Thanks for sharing
  10. Al: Thank you for the refreshing story. This is indeed a fishing forum and it is worth sorting through all of the political dribble to read such a great article. Thanks Thom

    Oaf Elections!

Oh now I remember why I quit posting here. We are offered to participate in a poll in an important presidential election by someone who can't even spell the name of one of the canidates. A genius who scorns a religion which has changed history and by which the majority of our sensible civil laws in this country is based. Who could take such a poll seriously? I might consider voting for McCaint but could someone tell me where he stands. He has changed his positons 4 times that I can tell by reading his senate record just on abortion and immigartion. Maybe if he could have Kerry as his running mate then he could present both positions at the same time. Why did I even bother.
  14. LMW Welcome back. If you walk in at outlet 1 and up the bank to the cable there lots of places to wade. My grandson and I caught lots of rainbows, browns, and even small mouth and whites there a few weeks ago. We used flyrods and spinning gear with large 1/8 or smaller white, sculpen, and white/red or black/yellow jigs. Also small scuds, egg flys, san jaun worms all worked for us. You just have to weight enough to get it down where the fish are. Thom
  15. nice job Terry. Next week I plan on doing some housekeeping on the one I made. I like the little holes and places that different tool can be placed in. One of the things I did on mine was to get a length of brass brazing rod and cut it in short pieces. I lined them across the back by drilling holes and pushiing them in about every 1 1/2 inches. I also used dowel rods for the same thing. I then put my thread, floss , lead, and tinsel spools on them. Atter I get it cleaned I will post a picture of it. Did you use forsner bits for the large holes. that is what I used since it doesn't splinter the wood. I have made three now one for my grandson, my first one and now the newer one . each time I add a little more. What I made my base out of was a piece of 3/4 plywood which I added a veneer walnut top over. the side lumber and trim are from oak purchased at home depot. Probally 30 dollars total for a 120 dollar station purchased.
  16. I just talked to my son who is at Lilleys this week. He has been doing very well with 1/8 oz white jig below the dam outlet 1 or 2 and also casting to the bank in one of Phil's rental boats. He caught two browns yesterday one below the dam 22" and one casting to the shallow area and back flosting. It was 20". Catching lots of 14 to 16 in bows all fighting hard and brightly colored. He also doing well on a bright red san Jaun worm under peach egg fly.
  17. Mclothier: Now if we had the recipe for the secret meat rub we would be all set. Maybe a good new topic starter.
  18. Bill: Very close to the recipe that i use. Only difference is that I use the cornbread stuffing mix like you use for turkey and mix the ingredients with that just like stuffing a turkey. Put the mix inside the cavity. What is left extra bake on the side of the fish outside the cavity. This same recipe with a little different twist. Filet the fish and roll the filets abound the dressing and place a toothpick through the filet roll to hold it. Lay the fillets after in a baking dish side by side like you do biscuits. No bones and lots of flavor. MMMMMMM! Thanks for the report. Thom
  19. If you don't mind spending a little you can drive up to Lilly's and rent one of his jon boats reasonablely or one from scotty's down from the landing. Then you can motor upstream or in that area and fly fish as you float back down.
  20. Chief, you get an attaboy as well as the agent. Had a simular experience at Bennet one summer and didn't feel badly at all.
  21. Great report Jeremy: Fishing the area you described we caught lots of fish last week. Especially at night. There are some spots where the fish are podded up behind the islands and structure. I did real good on rust shell back scud under a y2k in those spots all with the water running 4 units. I also fish near one man and his wife that was fishing slack water below lookout island and also on the point royalle side up from there stripping wollie buggers on top. The first rainbow was caught on 14 soft shelled scud rust colored and released below the island at fall creek The whites were caught on white 1/16 jig along with several other bass at outlet one around the corner The second raibow was caught on a y2k below lookout island and released both were near 20" didn't want to take the time to measure accurately because of the long time fight the fish in swift current. I brioke anothe large rainbow off right at the boat at fall creek trying to land and release him to quickly. I'll catch him agian later this summer.
  22. MoBass: Contrary to what most people believe about tackle shops on the lake I have found that the prices are reasonable and the quality is excellent. The tackle in the shop is to catch fish not fishermen. Most of the local shops near the dam are good also. but I was docked at Phil's and always found good tackle and tying material there. Why waste gas to shop. As is mostly the case when I arrived last week I found that after a few days I needed to stock up on some tying materials. Maribou blood quills and plumbs in various colors...sculpen, white, green etc. I found that Lilleys shop had everything I needed and was less than the box store. Quality great. That includes plugs etc. Good selection of hooks in small quanities as well as boxed of larger quanities in the most common sizes. If you just need a small quanity for the trip it is packaged that way also.
  23. Zach used 1/32 small green jig undr a lighted marker. Caught 20 + fish 930-1200. Biggest RB 18 smallest 14 fat and full.
  24. Pictures of a few of several fish caught. Thanks for the help Leonard (taneycomo nights.com)
  25. Grand son zach caught and released this bass at the cable 6 pm today. White 1/16 jig with a little tease of pink.
