  1. I guess I just need to get comfortable with dubbing.

    Chiefs

Ok, if you consider bringing a player in who might have 3 years left not rebuilding, you are not only delusional, but have no idea what is going on. They brought Montana in to put asses in the seats, plain and simple. The Schot was a horrendous playoff coach, which is why he was fired at Cleveland, KC and now SD, no arguments from anyone who knows football. Grbac was a waste. He had no talent, but because he played for SF behind Young, he got the benefit of the doubt. He won a Super Bowl with Baltimore because of Ray "Killa" Lewis, not the offense. Marcus Allen, half his career? Did you fail math? He played for the Raiders from 1982-1992, and KC from 1993-1997. That is barely 1/3 of his career. Bowe is no different than any other money grubbing number 2 receiver wanting to be a number 1. He does not have the leadership of a Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice. Sorry. I say OUR best player, because I live just outside of KC making the Chiefs, my local team. I wish them well every year, hoping this city can see a winner again. Hell, it has been 40 years. Now, Glenn Dorsey, why not draft something we needed? A quarterback, a tight end (Tony G is old), offensive line, or secondary. No, they draft a defensive tackle. Great impact player, huh? They need to get rid of Peterson and get someone in there who knows football. Now, as for the Cubs....wait till September. Go CARDS!
  3. You do mean legally within their rights to do so, right? Morally, we should conserve our natural resources for future generations, but if the waters keep heating up, get used to carp.
  4. Spiteful much? It is your right to keep them within LIMITS set forth by either KDWP, AGFC or MDC. It is illegal to keep as many as you say you catch. We are talking about catch and release not, changing our mindset about caring about our neighbor and the future. I agree with Al on how he handles small streams and native fish. If you keep a native fish, you will deplete stocks of natives in that watershed, whereas if you keep a spot in the Meramec, you are helping natives. It is a delicate balance.
  5. It depends on what time of year you want to come down. Spring, you can get into wipers on most any large lake that contains these sterile voracious feeders, smallies on streams in the fall, catfish in the summer on rivers, browns below Bull Shoals Dam in the fall also.
  6. Ok, kevin, you are new here right? Comments like this one: Who am I to tell anyone what to drive etc. I guess I am a citizen of the world who thinks about my children and grandchildren and what they will face if we dont get off our selfish butts and take care of EACH other for a change. will do nothing but get you branded as self righteous on this forum. We are all conservation minded, but in a put and take fishery, the key word is take. Almost any trout water in the state of Missouri is put and take. The only ones that aren't are the Blue Ribbon waters, upper Current, 11pt, Crane, Mill, Blue Springs, Little Piney, Barren Fork, and I am sure I am missing one or two more (Meramec, and Roubidoux Red Ribbon areas come to mind), but you get the idea. Every other trout water here is put and take. The state manages them as such, and no fuss has ever been made about them being otherwise. Now about my comment on why do you get to tell someone what to drive? You realize this warming is not an anomaly, this is a natural occurrence, and there is evidence of it being such. Could explain why global warming is not the number one story anymore, eh? All of the slaves to global warming hype need to realize that Al Gore (An Inconvenient Truth) uses more electricity than most in this country. Not that that matters, he is not one of the "selfish butts", he is one who tells others what to do, not as he does obviously. "The limits change with the creel assessments done by the fish and game ppl. And they wont let it get to nothing but why do we have to let it go that far?" The answer here is because we are but a small percentage of fisherpeople on our waterways, and as such, we cannot govern the others actions. If you think you can, more power to you, but my theory is control what you have control over, and do not let what the others do affect your enjoyment of the outdoors. "I guess from the posts, we need to keep all we are entitled to each time we go so no one else gets mine." This, is your right as a license holder in any state. For example, you can keep I believe it is 50 crappie each time out. Have fun, that is good eating. Now, most on here choose NOT to keep any fish, and strictly fish catch and release. If you want to exercise some authority over how someone protects their resources, I suggest you speak to children and fishing classes, or summerschool fishing classes. Thanks. Chief-it is not that you did not connect, just that I choose to stand by my views Thanks man, hope I get to wet a line with you!
  7. They already do, it is called the Endangered Species Act. And, the state of California has declined to have any new refineries or storage facilities built in their state.
  8. Thanks Dan, I was just gonna ask! I have seen that before, but it is nice to hear how easy it is!
  9. When I speak of the government building refineries, they have to approve it, and they have not. We have not built a new refinery in over 30 years. The state of California will not allow a refinery to be built there anymore. That should not be up to the state personally. The cause of gas going up, is a WORLD ECONOMY. We should be concerned with helping ourselves and screw everyone else. Who can help us if we need it? Bring ALL of our troops home and let the world deal with itself.
  10. Not a problem Stu, by the way I am Andy Webb on warmfly.com. That is a DDH leech. I need to tie some of those up for over here at the spillway of the local lake.
  11. Ok, a few things here, the gas and oil crisis, my gas has dropped almost thirty cents a gallon in the last week and a half, I am pretty happy about that, and I know others are too, but that is all I will say about that, except that if our government had built more refineries in the last 30 years we would not be in this situation. It is possible that less fish are found on high pressure water because they give the fish sloppy presentations, cattle like approaches, or the fish are smarter than the fisherman. The state manages how many fish are available in high pressure watersheds, like for example, on the Meramec, there are less smallmouth bass due to spotted bass hybridization, so yes, there are less of one kind, but more of another. Take this into consideration. It is someone's right to drive what they want, but who are you to tell someone what is right for them to drive? Are you the person in control of their decisions or thoughts? I believe this is a free country, and if you drive past a used car lot, you will see more full size trucks than anything on the lots. There is a lot in my hometown offering 4.9% anyone is approved on trucks, SUVs and vans. If a resource is suffering it is most likely due to other factors, low oxygen levels, low levels of available structure, or poor management, rather than overharvest. Think of this before layin the blame on a fisherman who likes to keep a few fish. You speak of good times ahead and harp on others for things happening now, I am confused by your entire post. For someone who said to not take something personal, you sure are.
  12. You are brave to post something about landing a fish without a net on this website...you might get crucified as a barbarian! Use the way mentioned above, that is all I do.
  13. http://www.warmfly.com/index.php?option=co...amp;topic=272.0 That is the Cap Spider, and it is probably my favorite! I fish it on 2 and 3wt outfits. I tie a fly like a Bugger, but rather than marabou, it uses a flashabou tail, 5/32 beadhead, and a peacock cactus chenille body with grizzly hackle palmered forward. Also, I like a little black streamer I tie with small silver bead chain eyes, and black bou tail with black bou wing. You fish all of these slowly near bottom, and watch your line for twitches.
  14. http://www.warmfly.com/index.php?option=co...mp;topic=1067.0 Try not to target catfish? HAHA...Tell that to this guy! He catches hundreds a year, on ONE pattern.
  15. JS, I have heard of 15" smallies from that trickle, so just be diligent in where you fish, fish every nook and cranny that might hold a fish or two, and you are right, spring and fall would probably be best. Also, you might consider taking a 2 or 3wt there for the smaller fish you are likely to encounter. I honestly cannot wait to get the chance to fish there. I will probably get down towards the mouth where it gets a little deeper, but that is a gorgeous place! Little Niangua at Mule Shoe, hmm...place where I caught my only smallie ever, on a spinning rod with a Rapala in HIGH water. You know the low water bridge you go across and park at the top of the hill? The island there, on the side away from the parking area, I ran the lure along the grass, and whammo! Fish on. Thanks for this information on BBC.
  16. Have you hooked one on a fly rod? Try it, and your opinion will change.
  17. After the other thread, this does not need to be brought up. There are people on this forum, who follow the TU mantra, to conserve and protect America's coldwater fisheries,(regardless of cost, or if the fishery is completely stocked fish, with no spawning.) That means releasing every fish you catch because that one fish cannot be replaced by the stocking truck next week. I am for C&R on wild streams, on small streams, on any water where you think you are the only person fishing it and want to keep it that way. However, the law is the law, if you do not like someone keeping a 25# fish, tough, that is the law. Would someone have the same heart attack if someone kept a 100# blue catfish from the Missouri River? Nope, even though that fish is older, they would not feel the same way because it was an old fish. That brown was old, and would not have survived release. He did a good job.
  18. If they could park a few agents at each waterway, there would be no money for stocking...sounds like a double edged sword, eh?
  19. Tim, isn't the Angel a part of Hardy's new Korean made initiative? That can't be good.
  20. How thick is the cottonmouth population around Crane?
  21. If I wanted one Tim, how long would it take to ship to me, from purchase, and what price would you have on it?
  22. Overharvesting by some of less than ideal morals?
  23. that is the first 20+ i have heard from that creek in awhile! congrats
  24. Any shops in the Ozarks carry this reel? I love the look and the drag, and will be buying one, but would rather buy from someone on here than give my money to some dealer in another state or region. Let me know.
