  1. I am planning a trip out there soon, but need a shorter rod still () I cannot wait to fish the tranquil spring creek!
  2. Is this rod sold? If not, let me know please ASAP!
  3. Speaking of woollies, I need to grab some good hackles for a few and some more marabou...well, now I know what to get at the orvis warehouse sale Friday night.
  4. I too would lean toward the trout parks in Missouri. Namely the park at Roaring River. That park was kind to me before I learned to fly fish. There is no wading in RRSP except for in the catch and release area and below the park itself on Roaring River.
  5. I have caught numerous fish on buggers and they are normally the first fly to be tied onto my leader, especially for warmwater! Bass one cast, gill next, followed by redear, and last but not least, crappie...they all love them! Most of my fishing is in lakes and ponds, I fish them parallel to the shoreline and strip it back to me in short to long strips alternating what I choose.
  6. Wow, that much change in that little amount of time? Just imagine how it will look next year, and the year after? Maybe a brown trout spawning run right into that hole like someone else mentioned, or just a deep place to hold a few large fish...
  7. I would rather wet wade any day of the week. However, if the cold water is a problem (55-60degrees all year long) I suggest breathables, but if you can handle it, wet wade all day. I find the cold therapeutic on my bad knees.
  8. Ok, here is another point. Why not just wet wade if it is that darn hot in the summer? Why bother with waders at all? In that case, if you currently have neoprene waders, like I do, you can dress sparingly underneath them in early spring and late fall and be comfy. I have no gripes about neo. I am prone to cramping in cold weather, and neos keep me from cramping also. I prefer to wet wade if I can, I will be wet tubing this year, after the water temps hit 65 or so, while others are struggling with waders on and off, I am fishing.
  9. Well, when you get a Battenkill Mid Arbor III reel for $119, and they throw in a free line (Wonderline Generation3) I can't gripe, as it is the best line I have fished.
  10. I can see new plugs, but wow...breaking it down it is every week and a half for oil...WOW. Ok, note to self, do not expect over 300k from ANY new vehicle with sloppy maintenance.
  11. According to MDC, 95+% of all reported "cougar" spottings end up being bobcats, yet I do not know how the hell one confuses these two creatures. I recall in the Conservationist last year or in 06 sometime there was an article on this very matter and there were only like 7 confirmed cougars in the state in 30 years or so, so all of these supposed cougar locations are just that..."supposed". I need to see photographic proof.
  12. I have an Orvis Generation3 Wonderline WF5F on my Avid 5wt. I love it!
  13. Streamers are my favorite flies for anything that swims.
  14. Well, I love how people have this idea of fly fishing as it is only for trout. We in KS fly fish for carp more than trout. I got out for a few minutes the other night throwing Clousers for awhile on my new Avid rod just to get out when it was 60* here.

    Super Bowl

Well, you know...Eli for Prez? What a hell of a game!
  16. Anyone know where I can find a Winston rod, WT, LT, BL5, DL4, etc. used for cheap (reasonably anyway) or new on sale or clearance? If so, let me know through either PM or in a reply on here.
  17. Greg mentions the 9' 5wt St Croix Avid. I bought one last week and absolutely love the rod! When I got that, it was on sale at the fly shop for 20% off, and being an Orvis shop, I took advantage of the Battenkill Mid Arbor III and free WF5F Wonderline Generation3. It is a dream combination! I recommend the Avid highly!
  18. If you have fly tackle, I would throw some 3" Clousers in either chartreuse over white, or blue over white. Toss them, and let them sink for about three seconds, then strip it pretty quick and hang on.
  19. May be able to run down there, but can't guarantee anything. Would just love to know what the deals are, so maybe I can call you and grab a few things.
  20. I am going to have to make one in a few weeks. The wood for it cannot be more than probably $10, and some nails.
  21. 52% first, then I realized I flipflopped the stonefly nymph and mayfly nymph, so 60% after that.
  22. As long as the fish are not 10+# wipers, you could get by with a 5/6wt rod. A lot of the guys here locally in KS fish 5wt rods for wipers all spring long.

    Super Bowl

Dan, I have hit that stage, and now am trying to counteract it...less soda, more beer...wait, that's how I got here. About the testing of Bonds, they did test him, he came back negative for steroids, but positive for other performance enhancers...look at the pictures of him in the mid 90s with the Pirates, and look at them now. It cannot be the same man. For the Patriots, hope they know that karma is a b****.

    Super Bowl

So, nobody has a problem with a team who has been caught CHEATING tempting fate with perfection? I for one, think of this like I do Barry Bonds. He may have hit the most homeruns, but he did not do it the same way Hank Aaron did, so therefore, he is not the home run king, he is a cheating 42 year old man. You do not change body types in your late 30s unless you are juicing. That is neither here nor there. GO GIANTS!
  25. Any new news on these reels?
