  1. Started tying this pattern this year for smallies. It swims it darts and it catches fish.
  2. Caught all of them on double deceivers.
  3. All pre and post spawn fish.
  4. Fished Beaver Tailwaters yesterday with pretty good results. Arrived at Parker Bottoms around sunrise and started catching fish right away. Caught a hand full of small rainbows all with excellent color. Managed to catch one good brown. Decided to fish down at the HWY 62 bridge. Caught a few small rainbows in the deeper holes. The sun came out and the fishing slowed down. The river was in good shape other than the rock snot.
  5. Used Simms L2 gortex waders. Size medium. No tear or leaks. $80
  6. bump....$60obo.
  7. There's some tight bends and turns between The Falls and Pineville. Just my opinion, but it would be better with a canoe or kayak.
  8. Selling a used Ross Reels Rhythm R3. 5-7wt. reel.Fly line not included. $70 obo.
  9. Any water over a foot deep is good water around the Pineville access. The further you go downstream the better it gets.
  10. I've been wade fishing. Just down stream from Russ's place it gets too deep to wade, and a kayak would work awesome to float through that stretch. The whole river is fishing good, so other than dragging in a few spots any section you choose to float should be good. I've been using two flies, green zudbubbler and a big black foam popper with excellent results.
  11. Blacks as in largemouth bass. For some reason the blacks eat alot better in the afternoons, I guess due to the warmer water. The few that I caught were smaller and not worth a pic.
  12. Decided to do an early morning trip. With the cooler temps I really didn't know what to expect. Well the topwater bite was still very good and the fish were hungry. The water is very low and the moss is starting to get thick and nasty. Caught around 25 fish total, mostly smallies with a few blacks. same fish different angle
  13. Floated the Elk last week. It's and getting lower each day. We had to get out and walk the boat down a few shoals.
  14. The topwater bite is ON. If you want to catch some river fish on topwater, the time is now.
  15. Float throughout the week. Less people, better fishing.
  16. Decided to do my annual float with the wife a little earlier this year due to water conditions. My wife wanted to catch fish and I knew that the fly rod wouldn't be the best bet. So with a bucket and cast net and a few dozen minnows we made our way downstream. We started at Kozy Kamp and floated to the private access below the low water bridge. The fishing was good and the float was perfect. The last black that I caught hit a black popper harder than any fish that I've ever caught.
  17. please delete this post, thanks
  18. This and a few other secret patterns that i'm keeping quite about.
  19. Here's a black that I caught yesterday. I've caught a few spots, but not many in the Elk. I have caught a few mean mouths( spotted and smallmouth mixed). Some of the blacks have big mouths and some have smaller mouths.
  20. The Elk can be completely different during the week. I've floated on a Wednesday without another boat the whole float. Some days like Fridays can be pretty busy, but not like the weekends. To avoid the crowds I wade fish the late afternoons or early mornings. The best bet is to wait till late September or early October to float ( if there's any water). .
  21. Looks to be a black bass. The Elk is full of them. Looks like you did good.
  22. The fishing keeps getting better and better.
  23. I don't think they're as PURE as everyone thinks. Wild yes, beautiful yes,100% McCloud questionable.Just my2 cents.
  24. you can put in at the ball fields downstream from the dam.
