  1. I think it's from the spring floods. I know it's hard to sight fish with the current water conditions.
  2. You can find the biggest case of douchebaggery at Taney. If only Taney was in the middle of BFE.
  3. How many first time anglers go and get skunked and never go back? One weekend there will be ten fisherman and the next there will be one. As soon as some pics of big browns being caught below Taney and the White the crowd at Crane will die down.
  4. I fished the Elk this morning. Caught most of mine on top, with a few on a big olive circus peanut. Seems like the fish were holding in the current and slack water.
  5. Nice river largemouth.
  6. The cabelas SLA reel is good for lighter rods. I have one on my 7'6" 3wt. and it balances it out good.
  7. I've used glass and plastic on my flies, the glass last longer than the plastic beads. I tie the rabbit strip in over the gap. Really how much side to side movement is there really going to be. In my opinion the way you cast determines if the fly will foul. Sometimes my fly won't foul after using it all day until I get tired and start making lazy cast. You might want to PM Jeremy Hunt or Brian Wise they both use and tie articulated flies.
  8. Ive seen a pic of a huge Taney brown on facebook, its huge.
  9. So did you kill the fish to turn in the tag?
  10. Maybe tying the strip in back by the bend of the hook more, or make a loop with 30 pound mono underneath the tail and on top of the hook to make a small platform for the strip to sit on.
  11. Trout and Smallmouth both would eat it. Looks like a winner to me. Nice job.
  12. The middle rabbit strip looks like it might foul the hook easy, other than that it looks like a good fly.
  13. I agree the Elk has fished very good this year. More quality fish then past years. We floated Thursday with good results on top water.
  14. You might try throwing some big streamers. The browns might start working their way upstream for the spawn soon.
  15. I've fished there before in the spring and you could walk across all the carp, drum or whatever they are. Thousands of them.
  16. Poor fish, it will take awhile for the fish to get their colors back.
  17. All caught on top.
  18. If you look at the first picture you will notice the beating that my fly took.
  19. Fished the Elk Friday afternoon and this morning, the fishing is very good right now. The topwater bite in full swing. Here a few from my latest trips.
  20. Good post, I enjoyed it.
  21. I have a pair of Simms G4's with Vibram, they have saved my butt several times. The slickest river bottom that I've been around is at Roaring River down from the park at the conservation area. I think a few on here can a agree its slick. I have fished it with both felt and Vibrams, and the Vibrams (without studs) gripped far better than the felt. And the best part about Vibrams in my opinion is I can put them in the back of my car and they will be dry by the time that I'm home without soaking the carpet.
  22. I fished ELk yesterday afternoon, the fishing was crazy. Caught all my fish on a secret topwater fly. Man I love the topwater bite.
  23. I've been having excellent results on fur strip clousers and circus peanuts. If you tie them big enough the sunfish will stay away for the most part. I use a sink tip line for both small water and big water. I tie most of my flies to be in the 5-6 inch range, and catch smallies from 6-18 inches.
  24. I second the 9 foot 5wt. rod. I fished with an Airflo Ridgeline for the first time last weekend, very sweet line. Found it on sell at Red truck fly fishing for $30.
  25. Caught this bass last year. Don't know the weight, but was easily over 20 inches.
