  1. I've gone through 4 Rio lines, and have Rio LT on my 3wt. right now. I usually go through a line a year. Mainly because of hard use and not treating it after use. I just picked up some Airflo ridge line for my 5wt. that im going to try out this weekend. When you start getting into specialty lines like Rio Clouser, Rio Smallmouth the higher priced line is by far the best choice. The only Cortland line that I would buy is the Lazerline, made to last a long time. In the end its your rod and reel and your money. You may want to check you the Rio mainstream.
  2. Good looking fly Brian, on my list to tie.
  3. I agree with Kayser, pretty much hit the nail on the head. I sometimes use 30 pound mono when I want a stiffer connection with less movement.
  4. Yeah carry a gps or you might get shot.
  5. Some are crosscut. Meaning that you can palmer them easier. Some of the magnum zonker strips have longer hair.
  6. Check Anglers Workshop. They have a very good catalog that they can send you in the mail.

    Elk Report

i fished the Elk this afternoon, i saw all kinds of catfish swimming around. I've noticed that the bigger fish (bass) are either in the shade or deep current. I usually fish around the Mt Shira area, how is the fishing around Noel and downstream?
  8. Tfo rods are the best rod for the money. They also have an awesome warranty.
  9. the thought of more than one in the river is scary.
  10. Go across the bridge after turning right at the light by the old Nunally lot. After crossing the bridge the is a Vet clinic on the left. I've parked there and walked downstream and done pretty good also. You can also park at the parking lot by the dam of the lake, and walk down stream. Probably more fishing pressure the closer you are to the lake. You can park at Crye- Leike and fish that part of the creek also.
  11. Thanks now i won't get a good nights sleep due to nightmares of huge browns eating flies the size of baby chickens.
  12. One cast with the TFO Clouser rod and i feel in love. Its a rod that does the work for you.
  13. Brodin nets are sweet. The ghost series are the way to go. You just have to pay an arm and leg for one, unless you find one on sale.
  14. The Rockhouse to trigger gap section is the most popular section to float. The river is getting almost to low to float, but perfect for wade fishing. We've seen some big Redhorse also along with some big catfish and carp.
  15. I've fished the Kings the past two weekends. The ratio between spots and smallies is no comparison. There are far more smallies than spots. My opinion the Kings has gotten better over the past few years. I've seen more big fish between Rockhouse and 62 bridge than past years.
  16. Where do you access Big Sugar at?
  17. maybe someone can make some sense out of this? http://www.nationalrivers.org/states/mo-law.htm
  18. I'm outing out of this argument. I know my rights as a fisherman, but i talked to parachiteadams39 via pm and cleared the mud.
  19. I'm not going to say what hole or section i caught this fish from. I will say that it was on a San Juan worm below a indicator about 4 feet deep on 5x tippet. I will also say that we saw alot of bigger fish in the deeper holes and around structure.
  20. You doubt he would allow me to access his land? Sounds like a maybe to me. I'm not shy or scared to ask a landowner access to his land. I guess i can drive around and find the owners of the land attached to the creek and ask myself. After all they can only say no, which to my understanding by law i have access to the creek if entered via public access.
  21. Caught this fish Sunday morning and released it back unharmed. The creek fished good and is starting to clear up. Lots of trash on the banks.
  22. I have yet to be told NO by landowner or sign. And since you claim to know this landowner on Crane i would like for you to send me his phone number or address in a pm so i can contact him about letting me look for arrowheads in his field. Understandable if not.
  23. trespassing or not, if i owned land on any river or lake i think i would at least pick the trash and tires up and dispose of them the right way. After paying $50 of a Missouri non resident license i'm not going to guess where i can and can't fish on a creek or river. If there is any river or creek that needs a clean up it Crane. I packed out a Wal-Mart sack full of trash.
  24. i always put the fish back. Three guys with zebco 33's walked in behind us. They might have keeped some fish. I have my own views on trespassing and stream access as do you. I've heard all kinds of stories about land owners with guns running people off. Could it be that people don't want others fishing their honey holes? The only place that i have been confronted about trespassing was at a golf course in Bella Vista. And i stayed in the river till the sheriff showed up and asked me what i was doing. I told him that i was fishing and i was about to leave due to it getting dark. After a smile and have a good evening he told the snob in the golf cart that i was ok to fish and he had no right by law of run me off.
  25. I fished Crane this morning with my dad. We walked down the river till we could see the dairy farm. We were fishing and heard a noise coming from the other side of the creek, it was a gentleman with what looked to be tools to repair a fence. He was kind and ask if we had caught any fish and we said a few. At no point did he say that we were trespassing or on his land. He did say if we fish during April to be careful and watch out for turkey hunters. The gentleman could have been just some random guy out in the woods, but who knows. By the way the creek fished good till the sun came out then it slowed down. Did manage to catch a nice 21 inch fish.
