  1. good stuff, I bet Henry has spent a few bucks in there over the years.
  2. I'm having trouble with the names, but thinking in Jensen there was the one right across the street from the nook with a good fish sand., I always liked the Dolphin bar, and there were a couple pretty good ones downtown, one had great breakfast.
  3. I have one of those redfish reward shirts from when I worked for FMRI, it was a hot item.
  4. I'm with you plug. Once you have a friend in someone they stick with you. I am amazed with the honesty seems like no one is ashamed of their past no matter how checkered, live and let live. Plenty of feuding too however sometimes seems like a big sorority house with all the drama, people sure fight a heck of a lot, I have had to tell tourists to stay out of it, they always want to step in which never helps end it.
  5. Nice! Sounds like the walleye are moving up in my area time to go pick a few up along with those early whites.
  6. Your father sounds like a great man, I felt as if I was reading about my grandfather. They really are the greatest generation! I'm happy for you that you had so many great years with your father. My thoughts are with you and your family in this difficult time.
  7. I have always said if it wanted to be here it would, still plenty of boats fishing the white one day and NFoW the next, anchor ropes, etc have undoubtably introduced didymo numerous times to this river, some day it may take hold but I hope not. I still use my felt, but only in Missouri, and I switched for a while, but fell too many times, a ticket is cheaper than a doctor visit. I wear my hard soles in Arkansas. I like to abide by the rules, but my actions in no way endanger the fishery, I'm the last person who wants to see didymo in this river.
  8. Watched the show last night and while is is obviously following some sort of scripted storyline, it gives a pretty accurate depiction of what happens in the rural Ozarks. This is not how everyone lives in the hills, but I could think of a name in my community for each of their characters without much trouble, althought the barefooted guy I can think of died a few months ago. Truthfully I think they could make it much worse if they wanted too, I hear hillbilly jokes all the time I don't really believe this will change anyone's attitude.
  9. Get this snow out of here and a little rise on the river, some warmer days and it should be fun!
  10. Creel and legth limits as well as stocking is management not much is natural anymore, I'll take 11 pound unnatural over 11” unnatural.
  11. Looks awesome, 200 acres is a big rain barrel, looks like a well managed lake to me!
  12. bring it to the NFoW, I give driftboat lessons for beer, fishing is optional.
  13. Or you could smack him with your purse! :-)
  14. At least!
  15. exactly! I'm sure they will make things up and put on for the cameras, but a good hillbilly show would be pretty easy to make. I know some of you live in the rural Ozarks, but for you city slickers that may not be fully aware, stereotypes aren't always that far off. Plenty of Winter's Bone stuff goes on every day down here, there is a reason many people in the hills like to stay isolated, and those reasons would make for good tv, I doubt this will be what the program shows however.
  16. A guided driftboat trip is easily $300 so that knocks the price back to $625 if you wanted a fishing trip anyway, seems like a deal!
  17. Grab a .22 on a warm day and go armadillo hunting, they are hungry and the survivors have been out and about when the ground is soft, I have only seen 2 live ones on my place and now they are just a shell of their formal selves.
  18. I never wear a belt because I can't keep track of them, if you are comfortable around water you will be fine if you fill them, can't speak for those old big waders, but hypothermia is a real concern once you crawl out.
  19. Unfortunately I have had to swim numerous times in cold water with full waders. Just relax the water in your waders isn't any heavier than the water in the river, it will slow you down, but you can float just fine once they are full. I would say panic is the real danger.
  20. I'm afraid going to the SEC was as bad for the basketball program as it was good for the football program. We hear so much about how it helped football recruiting, but most good basketball players don't want to go to the SEC as it has been commonly referred to as the worst, or disappointing, conference in the nation. There is a reason it is tough to be good at both sports, choosing the sec shifted the focus to football, that can be seen in basketball attendance and performance, I'd say the Chiefs have a better chance at a championship than Mizzou does at a final four. I hope I'm wrong, but look at the good basketball schools, most don't care about football and their players are the BMoC with the atmoshere at the arenas being unmatched by any sport. When recruits come to visit they want to see a full house and a raucous crowd, on tv it didn't even look like the place went that crazy when Mizzou took the lead against Ark. at the end.
  21. Very true, no fish here anyway!
  22. I don't think anyone wants to see politicians have any power over MDC decisions whatsoever. It's tough enough for the biologists to get agreement, get the talking heads involved and lord knows what will happen.
  23. They said the net was dislodged prior to the goal, kind of a screwjob, but that's what you get when you go against Tebow's favorite team!
  24. Nice way to start the weekend!
