Phil - I'll take two. Let me know what you need. I'll drive down to get mine. It'd make a nice excuse for some time on the water. John

Will be there as well. This is the first opener that I'm going to be able to make it since starting my adventure in fly fishing. Can't wait. I'm coming down the night before just to make sure I'll be there at first cast. John

Welcome to the board! Looks like the memories are already starting. Where in SEK are you located? I currently live in Erie. John -
Glad to hear I hadn't missed out on the run. Thought I had. Guess I'll be making a trip down that way pretty soon. Thanks for the info Phil. John

It's nice to see the troops having some fun catching fish! I know it's tough over there and a little break sure does help. I'm up for another "swap for the troops" if anyone is interested. John -

I like them all! Maybe we could mix and match them all along the river! Can we add something along the lines of: "Attracted to shuffling like motion."? John

Good Friend Win Am In Central Pro Am
Kansas Fly Fisher replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Glad to hear that your needs were met. God does not how to take care of us. Everyone has been good, we had a family tragedy in the May 10th tornado that hit Picher, Oklahoma, but we are recovering well. Haven't been fishing much since the tornado, but Sue and I are planning a trip to Taneycomo this weekend. Would be nice to see you guys again and do some fishing. Maybe during the C&R opener this November at Roaring River? Take care friend . . . John -

It Time To Start Making Plans..
Kansas Fly Fisher replied to Leonard's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Terry - made a move to a new job a couple of months back. More money and better benefits. I'm still in Fire and EMS just working for new agency. It was a good move and the stress level, as much as can be in this line of work, is much lower. See ya soon . . . John -

If caught soon enough Benadryl will help with spider bites. Of course, the brown recluse bite will need attention from a doctor. The problem with a brown bite is you won't feel the bite so you don't know about it until it starts to cause problems. A black widow bite is VERY painful and you know it when it happens. Glad to hear that the older doc knew what he was talking about. Sounds like he's got you on the road to recovery. Good luck, John

Awesome job Terry! I know what I'm saving my money for! John -
Excellent read! Only wish circumstances would allow me the opportunity to make it back this year. Alas, not so. I can only dream of next year. But a good dream it is. John

I have an uncle that lives on Lake Conway. I'll see if I can get you a fishing report and let you know what's what. From my experience fishing it bream fishing is some of the best around. Use crickets and set back and have fun. It's a man made lake w/ LOTS of trees. Can't speak of the bass and crappie fishing. I know the uncle catches cats off his dock but I've never tried. Bream is way too much fun. John

Camping At Circle J Campground?
Kansas Fly Fisher replied to flyfshn's topic in Bennett Springs State Park
Campground 5 is still first come first serve. Get there Thursday and you may get lucky. I prefer 5 over the rest anyway. John -
Camping At Circle J Campground?
Kansas Fly Fisher replied to flyfshn's topic in Bennett Springs State Park
Stayed there one time a couple of years ago. It's a nice place and the accommodations are okay. If I remember right the roads were not paved and it was built along the side of the hill. The campsites are level with fairly easy access. Overall it was a nice stay and I would not have a problem staying there again. However, my first choice would be the campground #5 at the park. Hope this helps John -

First Time On The Nfow
Kansas Fly Fisher replied to Kansas Fly Fisher's topic in North Fork of the White River
Water was up and murky at Bennett and since I like to site fish there the fishing was a bit tough. I ended up with five total but they were hard to come by. I really didn't see many others catching fish around me so I feel good about my five. Montauk was beautiful. I will need to go back and spend some time there as well. There's a lot of water and I didn't have much time. It's another one I would like to have someone to fish with that knows the stream or have plenty of time to explore. Didn't do well there, but the water was clear and the fish big. John -
Sue and I made our first trip to the NFoW the first of July. The fishing was a bit tough for a first timer since I really didn't have the knowledge of the river I needed to know where the fish tend to stay and what they preferred to hit on. Tried an Elk Hair, a midge, a leech and a bugger and only ended up catching two on the Elk Hair. Even thought the fishing was tough it was a great time. I was wading the stretch of water between Jack's Riffle and campground 4. Then I went and tried the area round campground 8 with no luck. Gave up on the fishing and decided to float the river. Sue had never been in a canoe and thought it looked like fun. We floated from Hammond to the Falls, a 7-mile trip down river. Sue had a blast and is already talking about going back and doing it again. Next time she's thinking of doing it in a kayak! The river was beautiful and since we started late in the day we had it all to ourselves. Saw a couple of people fishing on the way down but that was it. Wildlife was out and putting on a show for us the entire trip. I cannot say enough nice things about the River of Life Farm and Myron. Myron is one of the nicest people I've met. He is willing to help out in anyway possible and the rooms were absolutely beautiful! If you ever find yourself in the area and needing a place to stay or are planning a family trip to the area you have to give them a call. I promise you won't be disappointed! I didn't get to meet Brian and I'm sorry about that. Myron said he was at "his real job." Next time I will definitely plan a trip with him to learn the "lay of the land." We are already planning our next trip down and will stay more than overnight. This is one of those places you can spend your entire vacation at and have a relaxing and enjoyable time. There's plenty to do including swimming, wade fishing, float fishing, canoing, kayaking, hiking and just plan relaxing around the lodge. They have even added a massage therapist! This was the high light of our vacation and my only regret is that we didn't go there first! Probably would have ended up staying there the entire vacation. Instead, we stayed there last after visiting Bennett Spring and Montauk.

The Oaf Get-together Is Here!
Kansas Fly Fisher replied to FishinCricket's topic in Bennett Springs State Park
Things have changed again! Vacation plans to Wisconsin are not going to happen at this time. I WILL be at Bennett sometime around noon depending on how fast I get out of here on Sunday morning. I'll be driving a silver Jeep Liberty with 30 day tags on it. I'll also be wearing my orange OAF hat and fishing along the "island" above the bridge in zone 1. Hope I can get in a couple of cast with you guys before you have to head out. John
