  1. Be safe and have a great trip. Let us know if anything else can be done from this end. John
  2. I'm not thru trying to get things changed but wanted to at least post a heads up that I might not be there. Was hoping to catch Bennett on my way up north, but just may have to settle for Wisconsin by itself. I'll post again if things change. John
  3. Plans have changed! Got to pull a 36 hour shift starting Friday at 8p and going straight thru till Sunday at 8a!!!! BUT - on a happier note the rest of my vacation is intact and the wife and I are going to Wisconsin to see an old family friend. She has said that she has a lined up some good Wisconsin trout fishing for me!!! YIPPPEEEEE John
  4. OUTSTANDING! Congrats to the young gal and her first fish on a fly rod. What better way to spend the father's day than with your best fishing partner. I'm envious. John
  5. Gotta hear "the rest of the story"! LOL As for me; if they leave me alone, I leave them alone. BUT - if they surprise me, they're probably dead after I get the bladder back in check. John
  6. Cadilla: I'll be in there Friday and will do some Friday evening fishing as well. I'm camping also but will have to leave out on Saturday as I have to work on Sunday. Otherwise would love to learn a bit about the river. I'll help ya out as much as I can with the fly fishin, but can't promise much. John
  7. I'll get you some purple woolies. I also have a box of beads that I won't be using anytime soon. I'll get you them as well. John
  8. I'm going to agree with JJ - Readings is a great place and you will get a lot of information and help. Ed and Gaston's are both excellent places as well. I'm just saying I think Readings as a bigger selection of rods and reels. Bob (Gaston's) will spend all the time you need discussing fly's and even show you how to tie a few if needed. A great place as well. John
  9. Just thinking about getting a second pair for myself. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to log on their site and give them a chance. John
  10. Let me know when! John
  11. Nice fish! First Kids day I've missed with my granddaughter in four years. Wish we could have been there instead of where we were. John
  12. Sorry to hear about Jack. He also sent me one of the "care packages" after I spoke with Dano about them Dano was kind enough to pass my email and address along to him. I've been tying them for some time now using his instructions and patterns. I'm truly sorry I didn't get to know him more. John
  13. Some of you may know and some not. My wife and I are both from Picher but currently live in Erie, Kansas. Both of us still have several family members that live in Erie. My mother-in-law, and two sister-in-laws were in the direct path of the tornoda. My oldest sister-in-law did not survive the storm. The next oldest is in serious condition in Columbia, MO with broken bones in both legs and arms, a broken back, a ruptured spleen and an amputated foot. My mother-in-law is in Bartlesville with multiple lacerations to her entire body; but doing well considering. Everyone lost everything. The houses are no longer and all that remains is the foundation. My jeep was parked at my mother-in-laws and currently has a tree on it. My wife, daughter and grandson were at Roaring River fishing when the storm hit. My side of the family made it out safely. Please keep my family close in your prayers during the upcoming days. It's going to be a very long road to recovering for them and everyone else involved. John
  14. Welcome to the Ozarks! Can't find a better place to settle down and enjoy the scenery and fishing. I'm with Terry, if we promise not to track mud accross the yard and fill in the ruts . . . can we huh, can we PLEEEESSEEE! Welcome, I look forward to watching your posts. John
  15. June 28th works for me as well. John
  16. Count me in. The first week of June is out for me (going to Lake Fork and chasing the big bass). Other than that it's a guessing game with the work schedule. John
  17. This is what Joey (my boss) has to say about the Lake: the same way you fish here for bass and the presentation of bait is no different. Yes it is true they have the florida strain bass, so your chances of catching a double digit fish is possible. Several years ago they had a big fish kill that made fishing verry difficult.. The spawn usually occurs around this time of year now would be a good time to head. I always had luck with 1/4 ounce red rattle traps and black and blue lizards. 2 years ago we fished for five days straight 10hrs a day and betwen two of us we cought only six fish. If a tough lake but the potenial is there. the two best coves are little and big mustang. Good luck.
  18. Outstanding! Looks like he is doing very well and I hope to meet him one day. John
  19. Ozark, My boss fishes Lake Fork quite often, at least every chance he gets. I'm back on work on Wednesday and I'll get him on here to answer some of your questions. I know he really likes it and talks about the big bass all the time. John
  20. Great looking bench Terry! I like the cedar ! John
  21. One of the bes scud patterns I've seen. Easy to tie and looks great. I've already made up a bunch and can't wait to hit the water and give them a try. Thanks Fox! John
  22. Great lookin fish! Bet that was a fun time! John

    Tent

Believe it or not, they make an AC for tents! It sets on top of an cooler full of ice and draws the cold air from there. Then blows the air via a small fan across the tent. The literature claims it works very well. Haven't seen one in action or talked with anyone that uses one. Just came across it surfing the net one time. John
  24. I'd better start working on the wife and see if I can convince her I NEED to go on this trip. Maybe since I'm remodeling the house for you she'll feel sorry for me about then and I can go play for a while. John
