Well GreasyB took me out blue gill fishing at Busch Wildlfe and had a blast! This is one of the reasons I started thinking about it.

I can't actually see the end result as efficient as conventional fishing. Someone tell me where I'm wrong PLEASE! Why would I enjoy it more?

I've fished in only one river tourney on the Meramec with cwc87. I have mixed feelings about fishing river tourneys, but it wouldn't stop me from fishing another one. I guess if I thought it was a huge problem I would not do it anymore.

Well, we all know how to fish, we all know about equipment. Whats left for fisherman to talk about. Sometimes you need a strange post or this would be a boring forum. I find myself struggling to make up a good thread subject but someone has to do it right!! it's kind of like the marketing team at Taco Bell..... There are only so many new products you can create with Ground beef, beans and cheese. ( oh yeah, I have a great idea, we'll stuff a taco inside a burrito and fry it!)

You definitely reach the point of diminishing returns with rods anymore. The $400 rods of old can be purchased on sale of $150 or less today, possibly under $100. Yes, if you have the money and you use it often, it might be worth it to you. That last 5-10% of what makes a rod better will cost you out the nose...is it worth it?

I fished on the upper Gasconade a couple of weeks ago to avoid most of the flood water. The fish we caught were shaped like what I would consider to be a northern smallmouth, they were shaped like a football. They had a semi humped back with small to medium sized tails. They were very fat and aggressive. This is in contrast to the normal Gasconade smallmouth I'm used to seeing at or below the SMA by Jerome. The Fish on the lower stretch have typically been long and thin with extra big tails compared to their bodies. You would think 30-40 miles wouldn't make that much of a difference in the gene pool.
