Wow, those are some pigs! great job. Makes me want to launch my boat!
  3. Yea, the tail looks like a Gasconade smallmouth.
  4. Beautiful Fish! What a great day!
  5. Why are reality shows so popular? I think it's partially because nobody actually gets outdoors and does anything anymore. They sit at home on their computers and/or smart phones and text or browse all day long. The only way to somewhat experience the outdoors is to watch someone else doing it. Doers are a lost breed......sad
  6. After I read the post about the new record spotted Bass, which mentioned it was caught on a beautiful "Blue Bird day", I started thinking about the subject of sunlight and catching big fish. When I look back on all my biggest fish, I remember always having to spin the boat around with the trolling motor so I could face the sun and make the picture come out right. It seems I always catch my biggest fish on sunny days, not cloudy days. I remember back in the 90's when I duck hunted quite a bit, we always hoped for a sunny, windy day, which is against conventional wisdom about hunting ducks on a rainy, cloudy day. We would always find a bank on Truman Lake and set up with the sun and wind at our back, that way the circling ducks would always be blinded in one eye. I'm sure the same holds true with fish. The one constant in fishing is the element of surprise being a high percentage way to catch fish. I've got a good friend and excellent fisherman who disagrees with me 100% on the sunlight equals good fishing theory....What are your thoughts? By the way, I've included a clip from one of my favorite movies of all time, where Josey Wales uses the sun to his advantage.
  7. That was really good! You know my roots are from Paragould like I think I mentioned to you before. You may know my cousin Jerry Gilliam, who sells a ton of hay all around your area.
  8. The Chinese never fillet a fish, they will cook a gar or carp, pretty much anything that swims. They just pick at the carcass with their chopsticks and before you know it....perfect skeleton.
  9. Go to TrophyFshR, he has done darn good for me!
  10. Thanks, do they spiral down like a falling tube?
  11. You can easily make an aspirin head with a hammer. The aspirin head shape cuts thru the water easier, which helps if your fishing a dam that's generating hard. What I would like is to have someone upload a couple of pictures of the Zig jig head from different angles so you can see the difference in the Zig jig and the regular aspirin head.
  12. I didn't realized you could chase down selectively pursue and kill individual fish like that......scary stuff! I'm glad you're one of us!
  13. I think the older/wiser you get, you know exactly how big your bubble should be. The bubble just becomes harder to pop though
  14. Some people are reluctant to post in general, no matter what the topic. At some point, some one needs to post something or it would be a pretty boring forum. But when you post something you're exposing yourself to everyone's opinion and/or crappy attitudes and comments. The difference is I really don't get upset by anyone's comments too much. Everyone on this forum knows who the dorks are.
  15. Glad you had a good time! What an awesome day to be out and enjoy. Anytime you catch a big smallmouth you have a great day in my book
  16. Thanks Seth for setting a good example for your peers and doing the right thing.
  17. You the boat we saw?
  18. I have a buddy who lives on 90 acres near Festus. He has 2 labs that he lets roam free. One night he woke up to a big ruckus out in the pasture right behind his house. He flipped on the flood lights that were facing the pasture and saw roughly 15-20 coyotes ripping his dogs up. The 2 labs were sitting with there butts touching each other. He brought his rifle with him and started walking towards them. He got within 30-40 yards before the coyotes would leave, even then he said there was one big alpha male coyote who stood his ground. Those things are tough. His dogs survived but were pretty tore up.
  19. People just have a magical bubble that they can't see past. Whether you're in an urban or rural environment. They need to increase the diameter of their bubbles!
  20. IMO, A group of coyotes, led by the alpha male
  21. I said poachers Drew, not giggers. And yes, any poacher will try to gig all the big fish he can.
