OSU might be ok...I read there is a 4 year statue of limitations on infractions. I don't know why I find that comical coming from the NCAA, but I do. I think LSU could be in bigger trouble if it is still happening.
  2. Huge game tonight for sure...especially after the mess in Costa Rica last Friday. I have to DVR it...so I am attempting to live in a bubble until I can watch it later tonight. That is gonna be hard to do!
  3. Not a raiders fan and nothing against them, but I think pryor may be a good nfl QB. Would love to see chase daniel get a shot at some point in KC just to see what he can do, but doubt it is gonna happen anytime soon. He is undersized like drew breese, but they have similar builds so he could not have found a better guy to learn from than breese. I think he is a solid back up.

I often wonder which is more important in college football recruiting or coaching. I am sure both are important, but a trulely great coach can make up for some (not all) recruiting gap. Mack brown and Lane kiffin are examples of how to do less with with more. Saban has it all, but it would be interesting to see some top coaches coach teams with lesser talent.

it seems like it could be a very wide open year. You figure Alabama or LSU makes a run, but then who? Ohio State (hurt QB), Oregon (new coach), Oklahoma State, or maybe Clemson? What happens if Alabama and LSU both drop a game? Can Georgia sneak in? OU? I have a feeling there will be some BCS madness this year.

Those screens were so frustrating...toledo did have 4 sacks rushing 3 or 4 guys...we could not run the ball well. We got the W, but we have some kinks to iron out. dgb was doubled teamed all day, but he is ideal for the fade route...gotta use hisv size in the red zone...think we will. Franklin looked good...one bad throw. Texss got smoked by BYU...Clemson wins out and they may go to the title game...they were georgia fans today.
  7. If the demand for fish so high and money so tight the logical way to solve that problem is to reduce the daily limit of fish. Do you really need 4 every day? And why would anyone keep a 6 incher...what a waste of fish. (I do realize it would be annoying to catch them all day though)
  8. I now know why the Canadian national team sucks so bad. Had me going for a moment!
  9. I used fluorocarbon for about two years, but I grew to hate it. I have switch back to mono and I am much happier. The only time I use really light tippet is in the trout parks 6x usually. Other than that most of my fishing is done with 4x or 5x and sometimes I use 3x when throwing streamers. I agree with wayne that fluoro does not seem to handle really cold weather well.
  10. They wouldn't survive the meet chuckers and grappling hooks anyway
  11. I fish Montauk and the current a lot and I don't think there many large fish in the trout par. There are some, but mostly they are typical stocker between 10-13 inches some smaller and a few larger. There are always plenty of fish, and IMO it us much better than the current situation at Bennett. The atmosphere is pretty good despite the crowds and the dry fly fishing can be outstanding...
  12. I was reading these and reminds me of another story. The first time I ever wade fished for smallmouth I was fishing a pretty small stream with only a few deep holes...even those were only about waist deep at best. The water was a bit dingy. Near the access site another stream empties into the one I am fishing and creates a bit of gravel bar that extend 3/4 quarters of the way across the stream. the other side of this gravel bar is the "deep" hole followed by shallow water and the bridge I had parked at. There is no way to walk around the hole and banks are too steep to exit. It is dusk and as I am nearing this gravel bar I see a very large brown animal...I know it was not a small bear, but is sure looked like one. As I approached quietly to get a better look I still could not make out what is was, when it sensed something was up. It went right into the pool I had to wade through and disappeared. I waited for a couple minutes, but it never reappeared. A bit freaked out and losing daylight fast I eventually just waded on through with no incident. Unless there was an underground tunnel of some sort that thing was probably still hiding as I walked through. In hindsight it may have been a very large beaver, but at that time I didn't realize how big they could get and it sure didn't look like one ( I have a large resident beaver behind my house that I see and it looked look nothing like what I saw that day). I have fished the stream since then and it still give me the willies a bit. I call it the Yeti hole.
  13. I don't believe Brookies are quite as tolerant as other trout...but it would be super cool to have them somewhere. I'd be happy if they would stock more Brown's in the parks and make it 18 inch 1 fish state wide limit. I am all for organizing a late night concrete removal operation...
  14. I think some days will be warm, some will be mild, and some will be cold. It will rain, snow, and ice a bit. Other than that I am not sure:)

Ha!. As a Mizzou fan I am always paranoid. As Pinkel says "we do what we do". That is scary stuff! In all seriousness the game won't be close.

Yeah....mizzou should kill them...but that is kind of my point...the trap games are the ones no one talks about...toledo and indiania are not trap games IMO toledo has beat good teams and most MU fans keep talking about toledo as a trap game..therefore they should be aware if it. No one mentions ark state that is the game that could sneak up on a 3-0 team thinking about georgia the following week.

I always worry about losing the games that no one talks about. How often do teams actually lose an advertised trap game? In MO the talk is Toledo and Indiana and we need to be on our A game. I think Arkansas State is the trap game on our schedule before conference play. I wonder what the over on the Indiana/ Mizzou game will be? 80?
  18. I was cleaning out my garage this weekend and found a dead scorpion in one of my wading boots. It just made me realize it has been a long time since I have put those bad boys on. It is pretty bad when the resident scorpion dies of old age before you he can sting you. Ah yes, the late night tying/lure making sessions. It is about the only free time I can muster. I should probably just sleep, but it is too tempting. .
  19. Yeah it probably was smaller than 3 inches..just took a guess and looks like they don't normally get that big. My wife keeps telling me years from now, when i tell the story, it will have grown to the size of a lobster. Interesting to hear others encounters. Spoke to my neighbor and he has found several in his basement over the year...must be a good area for them. I didn't realize they glow in the dark if you sign a black light on them. Cool. I will take scorpions over spiders.
  20. Yeah, I was about to step on him when he got me....
  21. Yeah, who would have thought!
  22. Horny Toad is it for me....
  23. So last night I am in my basement...tying a couple flies, (happy my two month old and wife are sleeping) and enjoying college football and a couple beers. I finish my fly and stand up to admire my handiwork. Take one step and boom pain...thought I stepped on a fish hook. Turns out...much to my surprise... to be a 3 inch long scorpion that stung me on the bottom of my foot. So I squash it and start googling Scorpion's and debating if I need to go the hospital. Obviously, I find out they are not really that dangerous....not much worse that a Wasp sting. It hurt for about an hour, but overall was not too bad. It did give me the hebegebee's though. Searched to see if there were anymore present and sprayed the nooks and cracks around the house, but it appears to be a lone ranger escaping the heat and dry conditions. Never thought that would happen in Missouri....
  24. Anyone watch the Vanderbilt/Ole miss game last night? What a freaking entertaining game. Heartbreak for Vandy for sure. I love me some college football
