  1. Can someone explain the difference between a hair jig and let's say a maribou jig? Is it just the materials? You fish them under a float for smallmouth or fish like them like a normal jig? Trailer optional?
  2. I had classes on resume building etc my last year in college. It was a one hour credit class that basically was mandoratory and really silly, but it basically showed you how to get a job and not be an idiot once you graduated. I did ok with the first part I would say your best bet is to attend a job fair and meet with as many employeers as you can face to face. It is easy for a an employer to throw out a resume before ever really looking at it. Not easy to dismiss someone when they are standing right in front of you.
  3. Drove through a herd of them in the smokies a few weeks ago. A huge bull elk was probably 5 feet from our car. He was massive and just calmly strutting down the road like he owned the place...and he did. Pretty cool seeing them up close like that.

Yeah I don't think that enchanced the lambs global brand very much! Should be quite a few good quarterback's in the next draft if the chiefs want to choose one. Matt Barkley, Landry Jones, AJ McCarron to name a few.
  5. I was gonna say meremac springs as well.
  6. yeah a couple of those lakes are kind in accesable with all the vegetations and weeds. Not sure if that is on purpose, I have done best fishing the big lake in the middle and the lake by the skate park. Actually, caught a few gar out of that lake. Mostly though I have done the best in the middle lake. Not a ton of bass, but some pretty darn nice ones and it is usually deserted for the most part.
  7. Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate your birthday. Nice Job!
  8. Creve ceour lake is a tough lake for bass...according to the mdc. Not sure why, but small and limited population semm to be the norm. Fountain lakes off 370 have some seriosly nice bass in them. Fish the big one in the middle...a bit if a walk, but less pressure. you catch a ton, but the ones you do will be pretty nice
  9. Mill is one of my favorites to fish....There are some nice fish there...but they are cagey.
  10. The only thing I can offer is when I throw big bass bugs, the size your talking, at times I wish I had bought a bass bug tapered line for my 7 weight. The heavy flies seem to cast fine, but those big bulky popper, divers, aren't exactly aerodynamic critters.
  11. Yeah, the magic ran out. And I am not surprised....baseball tends to even itself after awhile. It has been an incredible and exciting run the last two years. No need to hang their heads...they got beat by great pitching the last 3 games. Poor defense was the final nail in the coffin. However, I think the future is very bright for the Cardinals. They are deep in pitching with Shelby Miller, Rosenthal, Joe Kelly, Boggs, Carpenter, Wainwright, and Motte. They have more young power arms in the minors. Garcia is a wild card...but he seems to suffer from confidence issues. Westbrook is fine as a #5 for next year. You have Freese, Molina, Craig, and Holliday as a decent core group. i think Matt Carpenter deserves a shot to start. Jon Jay is fine with me in center for another year. Not a great offensive player, but he is very good defensively You have Furcal, and Beltran for one more year as well, but health issues will limit them again. So long term they need to find another young outfielder (oscar Tavares in AA has the potential), and a shortstop. Don't think Kozma is much more than a utility player at the MLB level. So they need to sign Wainwright and look at a shortsop option. Matt Adams may be a first base option if they want to move Craig to right field after Beltran leaves. next year could be a bit of transition year with all the young talent they have in the ninors. 2014 could be a really really good team.
  12. Awesome game on friday...watched the ending of the game on my buddies laptop with my new wife and 150 if our closest friends at our wedding reception. We were all going nuts...something we will never forget!
  13. Craig is a good guy. Have fun
  14. Yeah, keep him on bench all year. Franklin probably starts next year and Mauk backs him up
  15. I have caugth fish that were hooked int the mouth but line became wrapped around the body during the fight...Just one of those things that happens. But mounting a 2.5lb brown...that is a baby for the most part.
  16. This team just keeps making it difificult for themselves. Franklin is hurt and it is affecting his play...no question about it. We still can't snap the ball, or protect the quarterback, and Berkstresser looked just god awful Saturday. The defense actually seems respectable. I'd agree about Mauk...keep him on the bench against Alabama. I am still pumped about the move. I think most are. If you look a the record most thought Mizzou would be 4-2 at this point so 3-3 is not terrible. I think is just the manner in which they have played that has people upset. They could easily be 1-5. They just look nervous to me.
  17. I have rarely used 7x on my line. 6x fluro has almost always worked for me in the trout parks. I use 4x or 5x on the other waters. I use the commercial leaders when I am dry fly fishing, but do what is mentioned above for nymphing and streamer fishing. For bass stuff it is just 5 feet of 8-10lb mono....no real taper involved.
  18. Yeah its really low up in the Park and the Blue Ribbon section. About half as much water as should be this time of year.
  19. Were can one learn this tension drift?
  20. Because fly fishing day in and day out is more effective than spin fishing for trout. You could make an exception for trulely large brown trout, but the average spin or fly fisherman can't catch them anyway. Your premise seems a bit inaccurate to me.
  21. I was down last weekend. The fly had to be on the bottom or it was a struggle. I mostly fish Pheasant Tails, Hare's Ear, Prince nymph's, scuds, Zebra midges, and eggs when nymphing. The river was packed last weekend. Amost as crowded as the trout park. My dry fly selection is one of extremes. I usually fish 22 or smaller dries on the current. Did pretty well on size 22 griffth's gnat...including a 16 1/2 inch brown. I throw lot's of gray and cream midges, blue wing olives size 22 or smaller, Trico 26 or smaller. The exception to the micro fly is my Caddis flies, Stimulator's and the occasional hooper bit. I have got some nice brown's on large caddis patterns. I'd pack some large streamers this time of year as well.
  22. I hate it they ain't talking. I hope so because if we aren't bugglegum is not very flaterring. Yikes.
  23. This is my first year really trageting smallmouth so take this with a grain of salt, but the streams I have been fishing (wadeable in size) seemed prettty devoid of fish my last outing two outings. Granted a fierce cold front may have had something to do with it, but the fish seemed to have disappeared or were holding really really tight to cover. Still didn't see hardly any sunfish or baitfish roaming about either.
  24. I do remember reading somehere that shades of red can appear gray in the water. I would assume pink would follow suit to some extent. I am sticking with bubblegum though it sounds a bit more manly than pink...maybe.
  25. The C/R lakes are good for small bass and some good size Bluegill. 32 has the biggest bass, but It can be hit or miss and it is not much to look at. 31 is great lake...just seems to produce small bass though.
