  1. Natural color's in shades of green and brown, white for bass assasins, black for anything at night, and a bubblegum trick worm if I want to live dangerously. Motor Oil color for 10 inch plastic worms and pond largemouth.
  2. Overlining is fine for fast action rod's when you are casting bigger bugs or streamers. All other applications I prefer a Med to Med-Fast rod with line to match. Another point to consider is fast action rod's, overlining, small flies, and wimpy tippet's generally don't go well together.
  3. I agree with Justin above. Seems like the officials are trying to hard to make the right call and therefore pysching themselves them out. Regardless they are bad...no doubt about it. Anyone else see the hit the Bronco's put on Schaub? He lost part of his ear when his helmet came flying off. Should have been an ejection after that hit.
  4. I'd agree that neither seems to be a strong advocate for sportsman and neither really seems out to get us either. I weigh other factors come election time. I do remember the video of Obama casting a fly rod. It was almost as entertaining as Dan Quayle at a spelling bee.
  5. Looks like an epic trip for sure. Great pics and blog. I have a college frind that lives in Helena, MT. He has told me numerous times that "I couldn't possibley fish all the water near my house in a lifetime." Sounds like excatly the type of problem I wish I had.
  6. I bet that hurt! Wonder if you could make a mold from it.?
  7. I use to fish lake 7 about halfway down the darn was my spot. I used 6 inch shiners and always did really good. I would put a split shot about 12 inches up the line. I think the large minnows would give them something different. Always did good with this style at 34 the first point between the boats and the dock as well as the darn on 35. Caught s 10lb channel cat years ago at 34. There are some 20lb flatheads in 35 as well. A couple years ago someone caught a 40lb channel cat out of 35
  8. I despise chiggers. Had them so bad once as a kid i was covered head to toe and was actuallt taken to the hospital only discover what they were. It was awful....i had sections on my body that literally had bites on top of bites. it is shame 31 is overgrown a bit...they seem to let that lake go a bit toward fall. Pretty good lake for bluegill...lots of smaller bass it seems
  9. After the last two weeks I am not sure what to think about Mizzou. We are not executing on offense very well at all. Defense is wearing down in the 4th quarter We gotta get the field goal kicker straigthened out...he is god awful from the left hash. Winnning with the back up quarter back is always a good thing, but Pinkel wasn't exactly happy with Franklin not playing...that was obvious. Poor snaps are stil haunting us...there is no excuse for that. We need to take some shots downfield...we are not spreading out the spread offense very much at all We seem a bit jumpy and nervous the last two games. Maybe it is the excitement and pressure from changing conferances, but we need to at least act like we have been there before. We need better coaching as well. No more 4th and 11 fake punts. That being said Georgia and ASU are not cupcakes. Bama is gonna beat us by 50. So I don't know what to think...
  10. The team seems to streaky to me. They score of a lot of runs, and then the offense goes silent for a bit. They pitch well and then they pitch awulf. Garcia nees to figure out how to pitch on the road. Beltran has been pretty awful the second half of this year. I think they get in, but only because the Dodger and the Pirates are not really any good. The Phililes are 4 back I think and that might be the most dangerous team....they still have the pitching.
  11. Hard to go wrong at Montauk IMO. Small dry fly's size 22 and smaller should work well. The water is going to be low and crystal clear so midday fishing will be tough. Multiclored Glo balls always catch fish under an indicator. Plenty of hiking/biking trails and you can always take the kids down to Tan Vat and Baptist camp if they want to swim a bit. You can fish while they swim. There is a section at the begginning of the park that would be ideal for kids to fish...you will see it...easy access and slow water a few feet from the parking lot. Would be a perfect kids only area now that I think about it.
  12. Tough loss for Mizzou, they looked tight and nervous and a missed opportunity to score late in the first half on the dropped ball in the endzone on the hail mary pass. The effort was there for sure, but the defense simply wore down in the 4th quarter and we may see alot of that this year. The fake punt on 4th and 11 was brutal...that was a huge turning point and totally unecessary in that situation. Bama is gonna stomp us too
  13. The driver ate it big time....could not have felt good...lucky no one was knocked out and thrown overboard.
  14. Looks like a sweet place to me. I am sure I would take a swim too.
  15. It turned out great. 2.5 inches and only one small spot with runoff that easily repaired. It is still damp today and with more rain in the forecast it shoul ease the water bill a bit. The first half i did two weeks ago looks great. I have two bags of seed left that i will use if there are thin spots in a week a two. I have put down 8 bags so far. Now if i could keep the deer from leaving tracks i would be set. I'll post some pics once it starts coming in.
  16. Watch our for tornado's in eastern MO this afternoon.
  17. I think we need to have an Ozark Anglers Tabasco drinking contest at Taney. Bring your own gallon.
  18. I actually already stacked up the remaining bales between my neighbor's yard and mine so that may help a bit.
  19. If I can get a break in the storm that sound like a good idea. I also seeded the front sides and part of the back two weeks ago. Looks pretty good so far. Put down lot's of seed and straw last night and this morning. Watered a bit to soak the seed in.
  20. That is excatly what I was thinking...
  21. It is pretty level..just a very gentle slope toward a dried up creek in the woods. There is a slope that runs on the side of my house that does run toward the backyard. That has already been seeded and some growth. I think I am gonna put it all down tonight and tomorrow. I figure I won't have to water it for the next week!
  22. Excellent. Would love to see some bear.
  23. That sounds perfect. Thanks!
  24. I have about 3/4 of an acre of land that I am trying to seed this fall. I layed down the first seed and straw a couple of weeks ago and the grass has been growing well. The remaining half in the back yard has been cleared of rock, graded, and is ready to be seeded. I was planning on doing this the next day or so. The rain in the forecast looks good, but I am concerned it might be too much. This has taken me months to remove all the weeds, brush, and rock and the soil is prime to be planted now. If it rains too much on the exposed dirt I know a ton of rock will come back up. I am thinking the straw should keep the seed in place. The amount of I rock I cleared after grading has been unreal. I don't want to have to do that again. So I am in a bit of a pickle. Would you lay down the seed tonight and tomorrow or would you wait? The NWS is saying 2-4 inches of rain over the weekend.
