  1. That doesn't suprise me at all.
  2. I intend to use either all stainless fasteners or most likely use decking screws that are coated
  3. The issue I see with tall sides is your sitting higher up and it makes it harder to paddle.
  4. not many tugboats on table rock I bet. Hopefully everything goes well.
  5. the reason I want 20ft is so 2-3 people can fish in relative comfort. I may beef the transom up enough to run a very small outboard(2-5hp), there are lots of slow places on the lower buffalo.
  6. Have you checked out the plans for the boat from longboat outfitters? I had the link for the plans and lost it. **edit** found the plans. It is a beautiful boat: http://www.duckworksbbs.com/plans/jim/ozarkian/index.htm I intend to make mine 36" at the widest point.
  7. where do you live? It may be worth the drive to keep from having a seam in the middle of my boat. where is your sense of adventure?? There are parts of crooked creek that could easily be class 2 and that is the first place I intend to try out the boat.
  8. I am going to be building a river john after the first of the year out of cypress. I am thinking of making it 36" wide in the middle with it tapering to 32" at each end. I would love to find 20' boards but it looks like I will be stuck with 12'
  9. Cant flit the nfow without beer.
  10. The coolest I have caught is flounder. They look prehistoric with their gnarled teeth
  11. I bought a 7' medium action pro qualifier rod for my jig fishing rod.
  12. The return store in thayer has a bunch of them.
  13. there is a boat ramp where the rivers come together glad you had a good time. Talk about a huge difference in bodies of water!
  14. I use a falcon fto bag and love it. model 212
  15. You cannot beat the scenery on the NFoW, I have floated from hammond to dawt and its all beautiful. If I ever get good at casting my fly rod I am going to start fishing out there more.
  16. If the aluminum boat was set up for jet usage(thick hull), hitting a rock won't hurt it.
  17. I floated it less than a month ago(CC), and while it was low, it was not too low for my tastes
  18. heat of the day?? your out of your mind! prepare to drag, the buffalo is at incredible lows right now. It would be easier to make a two day float on CC right now. I certainly won't say you cannot do it. Pack light and bring waders or tall rubber boots. Water temp right now is 50 degrees. I honestly think the fishing will be good this weekend because highs will be in the mid 60's so water temp will go up.
  19. Every time I float the NFoW I ask everyone I meet where they are from. Almost all of them are from springfield if they aren't locals.
  20. actually the floor and deck dont weigh but a hundred or so.
  21. I am the same. White/norfork rivers. 6lb test p-line. 6.5' ultra lite rod for jigs and very small jerkbaits and a 7' medium action for bigger jerkbaits.
  22. I prefer a 6.5' ultralite for jig fishing.
  23. I like it because it is likely the most informative post he has made to date.
