  1. He is not talking about the main river channel swings. He is talking about the biigger creeks where the creek channel swings in and touches the bank. They will either be on the ends or suspended in the channel. Hope this helps
  2. Thoughts and prayers to the 2 Duck Humters who lost there life yesterday up around osceola
  3. will do
  4. When the water is cold i prefer the cleaner water have not been last few days. They had 2 duck hunters fall in yesterday in the osage up around horseshoe bend they found both dead in the lake this morning. So be careful if you go rum. I am going to try to go this week looks like weather will be good. water temps around 43 yo 45 degres last saturday last time i went let you know how i do when i get out
  5. 18inches to24 inches looks great
  6. Rum if you can go put in at long shoal start jerkbaiting all the pockets around there keep an eye on graph you will see the crappie on the graph they are in the channel.
  7. Brian what are you fishing for crappie or bass??
  8. rum was you crappie fishing or bass where did you go out of ???
  9. Right now is some of the best fishing that i have seen on Truman all year. You can catch crappie all over the lake depending on location abywhere from 8fow int the mid to upper creeks to 25 fow on the lower end 1\8 oz jigs in the upper creeks an 1\4 oz jigs on the lower end bluffs on the main lake or the center of the creeks find the shad balls and you have found the crappie. The bass are shallow on channel swings halfway back int he creeks on a jerkbait. The last few days as it has warmed up the better fish are biting a wiggle wart or koppers crankbait or a 1/2 oz slow rolled spinnerbait the bass arent real deep about 3-7 fow hope this helps. Happy New Year
  10. I wish i could help you with your father. I am sure some of the good people that know on this board will help you out. I would if i could. More importantly enjoy all the time you can with your dad. I lost my father this year and not only was he my dad but my best friend. If you catch some fish it will be a bonus. Good luck but have fun it will always be something you will remember.
  11. Might give shortys hooks in windsor mo a try they are the eagle claw distributor.
  12. Koppers is made by a company also called live target. Well i hope you make it sounds like we are going to have a nice weekend. They should still be biting .I am throwing a 1/2 ounce hildebrandt spinnerbait with a #4 and #5 willow blades nickel and gold in char/white I am also throwing an IMA flit jerkbait. hope that helps look for them on channel swings in the creeks timber does not have to be present to catch them either.
  13. Well rum nice day to be on the water. We caught 7-keepers biggest about 4lbs and 12 shorts most came on the koppers crankbait the others came on the jerkbait no bites on the spinnerbait. Didnt throw it much though. my neighbor threw a eakins jig quite a bit only had 1 short on it. Tomorrow should be better I hope anyways. where are u at downhere?
  14. Was more of a hard drizzle but yes enough to wear your rainsuit. No we did not try the bass but we are going to today we are going to try the lower tebo and lower grand today. We are going to put at Long Shoal. The basss as halfway back on channel banks on either a jerkbait of your choice fish dont care how much you spend on them. and a koppers 6-8 ft deep crankbait. You can still catch a few fish on a spinnerbait and the spinnerbait fish seem to be the better fish. but They are getting fewer and farther between. Better get my warm clothes on.
  15. No i have not went up above bucksaw today we put in at 9:00 am was done at 11:30 took out my neighbor we caught some really nice fish today 11-14 fow and a few as shallow as 6 fow. amazing how hard they hit. The best part never saw another boat. They are really fat and healthy to.
  16. The crappie fishing on Truman right now is as good as i have seen. The lake is up to near full pool again and the crappie are liking it. They are biting in 25 fow on the lower end from long shoal to the dam alomg bluffs" The MDC brush piles in the same depths. Talked to a guy yesterday and he was catching them as shallow as 8 fow and some nice ones. I hane been fishing a 1/4 oz head with a 2 inch nlue and white tube. Takes about 30 minutes to catch a nice limit of 12 to 13 inch crappies. then i have been bass fishing the rest of the day catching alot of bass on crankbaits and jerkbaits. water temps have been starting out at 44 degrees and ending up at 48 to 49. Merry Christmas and good luck
  17. good deal glad you got to spend time with your brother sounds like he did manage a nice hybrid. They can pull your string pretty good the whites are about done the only thing left are crappies and bass now that the water cooled glad you had fun

i will bet there are more boats in duck drowning and ketchum than any where else that time of the year
  21. if the whites arent biting been catching nice limits of crappie on the bluffs 20 feet deep on jigs 1/4 ounce any color of body will work. guided 4 days last week in the wind it was very easy then guided crappie yesterday took about an hour had 45 nice ones
  22. yes they are still biting
  23. I was trying to stay out of this as i dont fish alot of pro-am style tournament for this reason. I did draw champ188 wife on truman several years ago. Very nice lady and a great fisherlady. we ran from bucksaw on truman lake to the mid pomme. At the end of the day donna asked me what do i owe you for gas i told her i had an enjoyable day nothing her response was i know what it takes to operate a boat insisted on paying which she did and i was very appreciative for that. Now as many of the pros in the pro ams know what i am about to say will know what i am talking about> I pretty much fish truman only and lake of the ozarks in the river. i have drawn i gur twice once in a central once in a heartland i fished the same ledge with him both times he said he didnt know why i fished there because he had fished it 10 times after i took him their the first time and never had a bite. so why do you go back if you never have a bite maybe you dont know how to fish it. I no longer fish any type of draw because of this so if you want to fish out of the front go buy you a 65000.00 boat pay 1000.00 a year in insurance another 1500.00 a year for oil 3 batteries a year for150.00 each. a tow vehicle big enough to tow it. plus get half the gas mileage pulling the boat to the lake oh yeah 4 new trailer tires for the boat trailer. and you can let your am sit down in the pass seat with a dd22 tied on and watch him bury the trble hooks in the seat and rip then out. sorry bout the rant but i feel better
  24. tough to say depends on water temps. there are some fish wanting to go to the backs now in the osage. the water temp today in that area was still 83. when it gets closer might be able to hekp you somemore.
  25. they ran a little water this afternoon looks like they are going to run more tomorrow afternoon dont know how long this will last it is my understanding they cant run any thru truman below 704.0
