tippet7 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I agree with the brown rule during the spawn. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Randall Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 man, you're not kidding they're vulnerable. i went down there this fall (2nd trip ever to the lake) and had no idea. i think i ended up foul hooking more browns than i hooked fair though. in addition to the no creeling rule, maybe there should be a barbless and/or no tandem rig rule. i know its a bit off subject, but i was under the impression that trout can't reproduce in taney. is there any truth to that? if so, why? Cute animals taste better.
CaptainT16 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Ya know tippet, I make my living as a professional guitarist, and I could bring a wall of amps down to the river that would be so loud that it would literally peel the skin off your forehead as you were trying to fish. JS Now that I would love to see. That would be absolutely hilarious, well until the fish went swimming away. I would hate to see what the trout would do though if you happen to pull out those amps to the river! tippet7 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 As long as your playing Eric Clapton or some Van Halen...I could probably go for some rockin on the river You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
CaptainT16 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 As much as I like rockin, I will let nature do the rocking for us! Kansas Fly Fisher Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 JS And the 20" something Brown rule I could certainly live with and also promote. There would be nothing wrong with a reg like that. Dano It's got my vote. We can afford to leave the big ones alone for a bit. Let romance work it's wonders and then we'll have even bigger ones in the future! John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
jscheetz Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Some Clapton might be a nice touch - but as much as I love writing and playing music, there is still NO music as great as a bubbling stream, a light wind in the trees, a splashing trout or two - maybe an Elk bugling in the distance, some birds talking, just sitting still and listening to that - - still trying to capture that in a tune. Geeesh - gettin all teary eyed, maybe this is all better left to Oprah. Members KRflyfisher Posted February 17, 2006 Members Posted February 17, 2006 I am all for the stream etiquette class. As a kid I grew up fishing in Bennet Springs, which can be as crowded as any place. Anyway I was fishing on the lip of the dam, which is kind of scary to a kid, when some joker came through with 2 cans of beer in the front of his waders and a cigarette in his lips. I was amazed he never fell in he was so drunk, but even at 5-10 yards away he was just too close. I have never fished the dam since. Some stream etiquette would have helped us both out that day. About the cigar thing. I don't smoke, in fact I'm asthmatic and think that anyone who smokes after reading the warning label has issues, but as long as it's not being blown in my face and the butt isn’t tossed into the river...I think it's a free country. You live your life, I'll live mine. I live in Olathe KS, not far from Lawrence. And unless I'm mistaken, you can't even smoke in your car in that city. That is ridiculous. People need to chill out on some things, and the smoking thing is one of those issues. The line can easily go to far, so we just need to keep it to ethics and common sense courtesy…whatever that is! Now I’m afraid though that I can’t help but play air guitar to Layla every time I hear it (both versions), so to keep me from hooking anyone or falling in a hole during my momentary brush with imaginary stardom, please leave the rockin’ to river. And I whole heartedly support the Brown rule, what needs to happen to get it in place? KR
gonefishin Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I don't agree with the licence thing. I believe people 'Know' how to act right they just dont think they have to. We don't need to have a class to licence people who act right we need to mark people who dont. We need a branding iron to tatoo their forehead with so the rest of know the person we are facing is an rude A$*#le who doesn't act right in public. Maybe even get MDC to not issue licences to anyone who has been branded. What do you think? I do agree the Brown Trout Rule being discussed would be a good thing. I would rather be fishin'. ryan Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Ya know tippet, I make my living as a professional guitarist, and I could bring a wall of amps down to the river that would be so loud that it would literally peel the skin off your forehead as you were trying to fish. But I don't do it - just because that would be subjecting you to something I was doing that you probably wouldn't want during your fishing experience, and to me.... that's just rude. That's the point. But we won't all be courteous and so it goes. It's that whole - "I'll do what I want and when I want and I don't care what anyone says" that seems to me to be the trouble with things, but like I mentioned above - everyone will go their own path. JS just wondering what kind of equipment you have I play guitar too and just thought I would ask besides hunting and fishing playing guitar is my second love
