mclothier1 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Im relatively new here even though Ive been reading and lurking a bit. I consider myself on the bottom rung of the "Novice" ladder especially when it comes to fishing TRL. But the info posted here about patterns, baits, and even a few locations are priceless to someone like me who dont have a clue where to start. I am hiring a guide for the first time this year on vacation and I hope to learn a lot. I am not one of those people that would just cold call a guide out of the blue expecting "inside" info. no way no how. With that being said, Phil posted something about putting an address on here to send money to. My thought is paypal...Im not a rich man, but I would happily kick in a few bucks just for the stuff Ive learned just from reading all the excellent info posted here. You might be surprised at how many people deposit a few bucks, just to say thanks.
Trav Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I forgot to call you Bill. I hope you didnt wait around too long for my call....Hehe "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 18, 2008 Root Admin Posted April 18, 2008 Wasn't serious about the address thing... we may think of another way to recoop some expenses. John Wilson posted something that just asked members to send money and they did! Wow what a concept! But as long as we keep renting rooms, Lilleys' Landing will keep paying the bills. I am getting a few calls about buying ads space. We'll see where it goes.
flyfshn Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Bill, I never called you, but maybe i should.......going fishing at Mark Twain tomorrow with a buddy. Can you tell me where to launch and what I should use? What, you dont fish MT, that is not an acceptable answer.....you are a guide, you should know all! ha ha! I think you should pull their #'s up on your cell phone and call them back at 3am and start rattling off fishing info to them!! Need to find where you posted your #, so I can call you and get Lilley's #. Phil, thanks for picking up the tab! If you ever need assistance, I (we) hope you would ask! Fish On! Bman Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Bill,go ahead and sneeze. When I call ya it will be on your business # to book a trip! The only good line is a tight line
getfished Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Whoa! Bill, Ive' been reading here for a few months and I just can't get enough! Bill you're a braver man than me to post your number out there. I wrote it down, but only for very judicious use. You see I am a late bloomer in my mid fifties and just now returned to competetive fishing as I just now barely have funds to travel to the Ozarks to enjoy it. My outdoor responsibilities are piling up from neglect because I've been spending so much time focused on bass fishing. As to your comment about the route that Rick took a while back with a marked map for a fee and an informative newsletter for a fee I can say from experience that it's all good. I purchased the map from Rick in 07 as I am from Kansas where 15' is considered deep . Not only did this map assist me in catching fish on the Rock it bolstered my confidence in locating similar locations, in addition to providing nominal income for Rick. I would reccommend it to anyone in a similar situation as mine. As I entered the 08 season I set some reasonable tournament goals and I am happy to say that I am on track to accomplish much more. It is through forums like this that I recieve much info to make my basic outline or plan if you will. For that I am very grateful and I hope you can continue to see value in your approach as it has obviously served you well. Sometimes it's rather uncomfortable when people show us that they are human at exactly the precise moment when we really aren't in the frame of mind to reach for something higher. My hat is off to you for your efforts that have really helped me even though we have never met. On a lighter note, I'm sure you have had that passing thought of where bad info intentionally given even though humorous at first eventually comes to roost. This forum has made me a better fisherman. THANKS !! http://www.tacklespecialty.com/
