snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I used it as a kid, that and hotdogs. Not many bait shops in the burbs. Works well at times just like any other bait for cats. Eels love it on the Mississippi River near St. Louis. SIO3
Kayser Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Never caught an eel. Might try it soon with all this high water. Best catfish bait that I've found has to be bluegill. Use live fish for channels, blues and flatheads, or as cutbait (a skin-on, scaled piece of fillet) for channels, blues, and bullheads. Best part is, there is an abundance of bluegill in most waters, and you don't need to buy bait! Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Paola Cat Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 My go to baits for big cat baits are: Leopard frogs for blues and channels. Use them dead hooked down through the bottom of the mouth and bring up one leg and hook it through the thigh. Small green sunfish for flatheads fished live and hooked through the back. PC Cheers. PC
Jason Essary Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 green sunfish are the "best" live bait for flatheads Ive ever found. Love them. 4" all the way to 8". just set two lines full of them with a few other bream. should have some flats by morning Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
