I just went ahead and raised my Half Day rates to $265.00 seems like I'm doing alot more of these, with gas at 3.80 and 4.00 in two weeks so I was told, it is time to raise to help just alittle bit..

I would like to see a bunch of us guides get together and discuss rates as a whole, that would be nice..

I think you guys should just stay home and start a new forum where you just sell your advice and let people use their own gas.

Just kidding.

Maybe require your clients to bring their own gas along with thier rain gear and lunches.

Or the best idea. Sell futures on fishing trips the way gas is driven up and make a little extra dough.

I guess that losing a lure or two is no longer the big expense for a guide.

Rolan,

Should be some Yamaha Marine dealers in the greater K.C. area selling Yamalube. If not a marine/outboard dealer, possibly a powersports dealer selling Yamaha bikes, ATV's and those Yamaha Jet Skis ?

Better watch that sitting around and discussing rates.

At best it is unethical for you guys to set rates.

At worst it is called collusion and is illegal for those in the same market to agree on prices.

If you need to adjust your prices due to expenses you just do it, but there should be no need for a group of guides to get together and discuss what everyone wants to do or "set prices."

bigredbirdfan: I was getting ready to post the same thing. Price fixing is illegal and worse yet it is not hearsay it is right here in black and white for all to see.

I would rather be fishin'.

Yes, I heard Jay Nixon is on his way down to imprison all dozen of us for going from $250 too $265.

We are a consortium that is governed by the same rules and regs. We all have much the same equpment and we all hire each other on a daily basis. Our yearly expenses are very much the same. All our compensation is dictated by the number of clients and the ammount of time they are with us. Everything is equal.

By providing very similar service over the very same time durations, and all else being equal it is in the better interest of the public that we maintain a very similar pricing structure for the same service rendered.

By doing this it protects Mr. and Mrs. Fisherperson from hiring some nimwhit, with no insurance, no guide lic. and that is just doing this on the QT after hammering nails all week, for a quick buck with no expenses.

As federal Captians involved in a consortium, we are all mandated to certain rules, that do not govern those that wish to SCAB.

That's enough on the Guides lets move on to the fishing, and shut this foolishness down.

Bill and Don,

Don't let'em get to ya. Anybody who is serious about all of that baloney is full of it. You guys all know each other and can charge whatever your clients are willing to pay. If anybody wants to talk about price fixing (and gouging by the way) they can talk until they are blue in the face about the gas stations. They hike up their prices on a daily basis as a group at will. The bottom line is... when the expenses of any company go up, they are allowed to raise their prices/rates to keep their margins. You guys do what you have to do and everybody else needs to stay out of your business. Thanks, once again, for everything you guys do.

Pardon me for at least pointing out the law.

I'm sure everyone has the same mortage payment, the same boat payment and the same exact profit margin and

therefore needs to charge the same rates.

From the reports posted here sometimes I would think at least some guides might well be worth more than others.

I will now retreat back to other forums not Table Rock related.
