Trav Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hey Hunter, Think we are catching the same 6 fish over and over?Haha "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Hunter91 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Probably so. The ones I catch beside the one good one a couple years ago are all about the same size.
Members wackinbass Posted March 3, 2009 Members Posted March 3, 2009 Here's what I caught while fishing a black/olive 1/8th oz maribou jig in June of 2008 out of Taneycomo and I firmly agree with Lilley that the fish entered Taney over the table rock dam during the flooding. This fish went 4lb 9oz. FYI....These fish were only on the stringer for the purpose of taking pictures only. All of these fish were released unharmed so that I can catch them again this season. I did; however, get a replica mounth of the biggest one. On this same trip I also caught a 6.96lb 27" walleye on a vertical jigged spoon out of a deep pool with moderate current.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 4, 2009 Root Admin Posted March 4, 2009 Thanks for posting... don't mind the negativity... you'll get it anytime there's fish on a stringer. If you didn't keep them, someone else would have.

If you didn't keep them, someone else would have. This is very true.. All the way around. Good looking fish just make me jealous, and I tend to ask for a shot at em too.. LOL Good looking fish either way, sorry for my negativity.. (smile) cricket.c21.com
brownieman Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I don't mean to be negative...I enjoy nothing better than a fresh mess of fish. Smallies are different though, when I was younger I kept some too. With their numbers waining and due to the exceptionally slow growth rate they have I just can't help to feel there are always some pan fish or stockers, something besides smallies to stink some grease. I'd rather see someone keep a 10 lb. trout than a smallie...especially on Taney where it appears there are not many. At least trout get supplemental stockings to ensure they are plentiful, smallies are just on their own and I feel they need all the help they can get. I still would like to see the almighty mdc put forth some effort towards smallie restoration, they stepped on their weiners when they reintroduced otters in certain areas more than others...looks like to me they would put a little effort into helping the population in areas where it is apparant the otters have done some damage. JMO...but they could use any help they can get. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
bigredbirdfan Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Maybe this is why we don't see the numbers down in the warmer section of the lake. Maybe the MDC should impose regs in the trophy area protecting smallmouth, like say... "catch and release"
