To update this thread, here is the final reply from the MDC Agent.

"Conservation Agents concluded their investigation of the violation report you posted on the internet. The fishermen was interviewed and admitted to fishing at the date, time and location but did not confess to using bait. Without physical evidence such as some of the actual bait, there is not probable cause to issue a citation without a confession from the suspect. The fishermen was very surprised that he was able to be tracked down over the photograph. I believe the effort that you and the agents made to track him down and investigate this report fully will leave a strong impression with him. Thank you for reporting the violation. If you witness further violations they can be reported by calling Operation Game Thief at 1-800-392-1111."

Not a bad resolution, all things considering. Probably changed his shorts over than one. Thanks for the update.

Yes. Next year when he makes his 3 week trip mentioned ealier in this thread, I will be watching! and maybe an agent or two! If I see him doing any illegal activity, I will make it my mission to make sure this dude pays for his violations, using lawful means of course.

Not all is lost. Maybe, for some time to come, he won't be sucking eggs any more!

Its a common problem on the meremec. last week I was fishing and a guy with his two young boys came by in a boat commenting on how well the smallies were hitting. I looked at their rods and saw all had plastic chomper bait hanging on the end. :huh:B)

Politely inform them of the rules, if they are where the springs enter the river point out the signs. If they don't seem to comply, take pics, call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-392-1111. Or the local Sheriff. Inform them that when they take out at Scotts Ford (the float would last another 3-6 hours) the law will have plenty of time to be waiting for them.

Good work by all parties. When these folks realize that modern tech means they are a camera phone msg away from a ticket whenever another angler is within line of sight, that will be like having thousands of more agents on the water. Word will spread, too. So this was a win for the good guys in spite of the lack of a citation.

That's sad. Glad people like you are doing what you are doing. I have been fishing at the Springs about 5 times this year and the floaters are in prime season. A few weeks back on the gravel bar on the right bank where the spring comes in a ton of wasted floaters were hanging out. I have no problems with that, because I used to be one myself. What I did have a problem with was some a-hole hittin water snakes with his paddle thinking he was some sort of tough guy. It was not poisonous, and it was out in the channel and he ran out to hit it.
